Summary: Wonderful Addition
Review: Brood Wars on it's own merit is a wonderful addition pack. When I got the addition, I was starting to get bored with the StarCraft game. Just the new units make it worth it. And the continued story line is just as good as the original. You'll want to play to find out what happens more then to just wage war.

Summary: A must buy for any RTS fans
Review: The original starcraft revolutionized RTS. This expansion adds 6 units more abilties, lots of other modifications, 3 new campaigns, tons of more maps and add features. I think the best feature about the game is the multiplayer on battle.net.
All 3 races are so different but yet so equal in strength. Just a truly superior mutliplayer game and strategy game in general. You do have to have the original to play the expansion though.

Summary: Regarding the expansion only, a VERY good addition.
Review: First off, I really like the original "Starcraft." I was introduced to the game long after "Brood War" came out, but I have played both "Starcraft" by itself and with the expansion (though by far mostly the latter). I will admit as well that I only play on-line nowadays (single isn't as fun! :D ), so I can't say much about the new campaigns, etc., so that's what my review will be mainly concerned about.

Let me just 1st off say that the new units and upgrades ARE all fair and equal. The Valkyrie's the unit you'll probably hardly EVER use, if not never. I don't think anyone will miss that if it disappeared; Wraiths are cheaper, faster to produce, take less tech, can cloak, and in groups can take out air units quickly 1 by one if you manually target each enemy, which is a lot more efficient compared to the Valkyrie's sloppy splash damage. Other than that, these new things are balanced and make for better gameplay. This expansion DOES make a difference, a significant difference actually, in gameplay. In "Brood War" you'll have more use for detectors with all the new cloaked units. Before you only really had to worry about cloaked Wraiths, Observers spying on you maybe, and once in a blue moon units under an Arbiter. But that just means you'll have to change your strategies a bit.

Those who say that the new units are unfair and they make 1 race stronger than the other, I laugh at you. The races were all EQUALLY balanced (though different) in the original, and are STILL balanced in the expansion. Trust me. The thing is most people on Battle.net suck. I've seen this. I'm not saying I'm the greatest, but I am decent and do know what I'm doing and talking about, as well as the fact that I CAN beat most people on Battle.net (I guess you'll have to take my word on this point). Someone pointed out that Lurkers can cut your men up and they're easy to tech up to. Well, Lurkers can't tech be teched up like Firebats; you can't tech them up THAT easily. And that's why you scout, duh; to see what they're doing. You see them going Lurkers and you're planning on going M&M, just go metal or mix. Just like in the original, everything can be countered with something else. I don't wanna take the time to list them all, but let's just say I've seen these strategies and have done most of them (my Terran needs work...but I am fluent with Zerg and Protoss). So basically those who say that the new units unbalance the races and give 1 or 2 an unfair advantage don't know what they're talking about, and are most likely of the large majority that suck on Battle.net. I wouldn't be surprised. One tell of whether they suck is if they play 1 race mainly, which some reviewers have stated. The good players can play all 3 or maybe only have a small amount of trouble with 1 (like me!). But all the good players will tell you the races are still balanced and not whine how Lurkers are too strong or Dark Templars' aren't worth making or how Medics make Terran men too hard to kill. They just don't know how to play.

"Brood War" is a good addition to multiplayer gaming, and very worth buying, and will significantly change your gameplay. Buy it!

Summary: An Excellent Expansion
Review: The second game in the Starcraft saga, this is an expansion that improves the game dramatically. Aside from the even greater single player mode, this game adds more balance to the three races and fills a lot of voids. With the patch, a replay feature has been added which is something to attest to Blizzard. How many gaming companies would add a replay feature to a game five years after the original came out without rereleasing it?

Summary: Good old Starcraft with new twists!
Review: When the origional starcraft came out, I flocked on over to the computer store to pick me up a copy. When Brood war came out, I flocked over to the computer store to pick me up a copy. I am still not tired with either one of them! they are both excellent games and are well-worth the incredibely low price. Have fun gaming!

Summary: Best RTS I've ever played
Review: As with all RTS games, the best value is multiplayer. Brood war also has a good campaign.

Unlike some other strategy titles (Warcraft II & Age of Empires), the units for each playable group are extremely different in stats and pictures. Amazingly, the races are balanced. You will, however, eventually find that one suits you better.

You can spend years learning the nuances of using the many spellcasters available.

Review: how can I explain it in words? It's just too good for that. You play this game, you are hooked, bottom line. This is the expansion pack but the regular version is just as good. I love this game and you will too if you play it! StarCraft 4 Life!

Review: how do you explain it? it's too good to explain in words. The first time I played this game I fell in love with it. I can't stop. If anyone has ever been addicted to something...well...if you want a new game, and have a lot of free time, play this, you're hooked. Forever. It never lets you go. You may stop playing but you come back and play it. This is the expansion pack, but, you play even the first one. It's as good as this. If I could give this ten stars, I would.

Summary: BEST GAME IN THE UNIVERSE
Review: I love this game. This is my favorite game ever. I spend hours playing this. When You Play Online, the Games Are Unlimited and you can't use cheats. I would pay ($) if I had to, just to get this game. One huge advantage is that you can make your own games. Cool!!! If your looking for a really really really really really really really really really really (...) cool computer game. GET THIS

Summary: --game of the year--
Review: Starcraft the original is one of the best games around the world today. Starcraft has itself won over 100s of awards throughout the world, by making broodwar it just expanded its collection of awards. The makers at Blizzard added new characters which made the game even better to play. With the Battle.net free connection what can you lose!
