Summary: The Best RTS Game ever
Review: With its low requirements and amazingly quick pace Starcraft (and Bw) are IMO the best computer games ever. With Starcraft, you have three races of equal abilities and power but are completely different.

Bw adds to the mix with 6 new units, (Valkyries, Medics [Terran], Devourer's and Lurker's [Zerg], as well as Dark Archon's and Corsair's [Protoss]). On top of that, the Protoss can now access Dark Templar's (though their stats aren't really worth the price and tech) and both Zerg and Terran have new upgrades. BW also includes three new tilesets and three new critters (YAY!)

The races are still even, regardless of what you may have read in some other reviews. Also, all the new units are useful, IMO, except the Dark Archon and Templar (but I'm not a very avid Toss player). Medics make fields of marines and firebats that much more of an annoyance, whereas lurkers will cut infantry down in seconds. Corsairs are quick to fire and good against smaller groups (and their disruption web is awesome when playing a terran tanker), whereas the Valkyrie is amazing for, say tons of Mutas. And the devourers spores help slow down the enemy fire.

With the new upgrades Guardians become less a threat than they previously were to Terrans, and Ultralisk's are muuuch more useful.

The only thing that wasn't improved was the campaign. The story was close to the last, and you could tell who the traitor was and who would die etc. The cutscenes aren't even that great either. And by the end you're left with so few characters, that you find yourself not caring anymore, and wanting Kerrigan to destroy all of them. But the never tiring multiplayer saves the game. And even though there weren't too many new good 8player maps, we still have hunters!

Other than that though, awesome game, and I sure can't wait until Blizzard releases news about Starcraft 2! (If they do:D)

Summary: Great expansion hours more fun.
Review: The Brood war expansion pack is fantastic. You've only been playing half the game if your playing Starcraft without it. The story line continues from the original Starcraft with extra missions and new troop types. Unlike other game expansion packs Brood War actually feels like it should be part of the original rather than just being bolted onto it. If you love being Terran then buy Brood war just for the Medic, which heals (repairs) Marines and other troops. Medics are best used in pairs (so they can heal each other) Few opponents can stand up under the onslaught of two medics and a full group of marines, together they will do a lot of damage. If you love Protos buy Brood war for the Dark Templars who are not only permanently cloaked but can meld with another (Like Templars) to create Dark Archons who in turn have the MIND CONTROL ability to steal units from your opponent. Unfortunately if you're a Zerg player (like myself ;0), the Zerg don't do as well on the new troops. The Devourer is a new Air to Air attack flyer. It's a little expensive in both minerals and time (evolves from a Mutalisk) compared to its damage. The Lurker, which evolves from a Hydralisk is the only unit that can attack whilst burrowed. Since no unit can move while it is burrowed the Lurker becomes just a glorified sunken colony. It's well worth buying this expansion pack

Summary: Best Game Ever
Review: Starcraft is definetly the best game ever to come out for PC, Broodwar made starcraft even more popular by adding a few units to the game. One thing I like about this game it never gets boring, takes a while to learn to play but is the most addictive game on the market. I don't think that this game will ever die down. However I do think that Blizzard should come out with another expansion to Broodwar, its been like 4 years already, all they need to do is add a few units and its going to be a best seller for like 4 months straight. Anyway if you never played this game you don't know ehat you are missing.

Summary: Decent but unexciting expansion pack
Review: StarCraft was an epic real-time strategy game that combined good gameplay with a good storyline, all enhanced by good music and decent graphics. Set in a distant part of the galaxy, the game features humans (or terrans) fighting a civil war while caught in the crossfire of a battle between two other alien races: the psychic, contemplative protoss and the swarming, insect-like zerg. As in any other real time strategy game, the player controls various military units (foot soldiers, tanks (or their equivalent), aircraft, etc) and builds up a supply base while achieving a set military objective. Gameplay is continuous, so commands must be given while action occurs in the game.

This expansion pack continues the storyline of StarCraft, but it adds little to the gameplay. A few new types of units with limited abilities are added, but the units have limited capabilites (such as slow, weak air-to-air attacks or heal unit capabilities) that do not really add to the excitement. New scenery is added, but the scenery is not that exciting. The movies in the story mode are interesting, but the plot overall is not as exciting as in the original StarCraft.

For fans of the original StarCraft, this is a must-have expansion pack. For the casual game player (who must already own StarCraft to play this game), this expansion pack does not offer much more than what can already be found in StarCraft.

Summary: Great expansion of a great game
Review: The expansion pack Brood War pushes the already great Starcraft game even further. A few new units have been added to the old spectacle. The Terrans have got a Medic, a helpful addition because their soldiers aren't particularly strong, and they also have the new Valkyrie plane, a quick assault plane. The Zerg have the Lurker, a nasty thing that can hide underground (like nearly all Zerg units) and releases its sharp spines as soon as the enemy comes too close. This unit is an excellent way to protect the Zerg bases, so that these become even more hard-to-capture strongholds. There's also the flying Devourer, a huge monster that makes the Zerg much stronger in the air than they were before (those Scourges aren't that strong, after all). But it is the Protoss who have received the most interesting additions: the great Dark Templar units that were available sometimes in the missions of the original, have now become standard units. This fast stealth attacker (he can only be seen by detector units) balances the lack of strong small infantry with the Protoss. And: just like with the familiar High Templars, two Dark Templars can fuse to a Dark Archon, a great unit that can mind-control enemies (probably, the Yuri units in Red Alert 2 have borrowed this idea). This can be an immensely powerful addition to the battle, though, as with so much in Starcraft, you have to use these units carefully. They cost a lot, after all! There are also new campaigns, with again some of the well-known great animation movies and a new, great story (And believe it or not, Sarah Kerrigan returns once again!). I find the campaigns generally harder than those in the original, but that's only good news. This add-on just has everything of the original, and then even better. Not to be missed!

Summary: The Greatest Game of All Time
Review: Starcraft: Brood War is hands-down the greatest Real-Time-Strategy game of ALL TIME. It's considered a SPORT in korea, getting live broadcasts on tv stations daily. I have played this game for 5 years, and I'm still as interested in it now as I was 5 years ago. For a game that has been out since 1998, there are still more people playing this game than most new titles today. In my opinion, Starcraft: Brood War ranks as #1 game of all time.

Summary: Fun Game
Review: This game is one of the best games i've played. The gameplay is fun just like the orginal Starcraft. I especially like the multi-player mode on battle.net. Whenever i play, I usually play on battle.net. The one thing i don't like about this game is how much stronger the new units are. I especially hate the Zerg Lurkers. They rip your men apart. They really hurt the Terran Marines. The Protoss Dark Templars are cloaked so you can't see them, and on top of that, they're encredibly strong. Then, Blizzard decided to give the Terran horrible units. I don't find Valkyries very helpful. Then the medics aren't very useful for a lot of people because i don't know anyone that uses marines, firebats, or ghosts. But all in all, i would recommend this game to everyone because the storyline is awesome and unexpected things happen, too.
