Summary: Age of Kings with Star Wars Graphics (and bad ones at that)
Review: This game doesn't make much sense in terms of the Star Wars universe. It was clearly made to be as similar to Age of Kings as possible. Yeah, it's pretty cool to select some Tie Fighters and tell them to attack, or to move around an At-At, but I'm sorry, Wookies, Naboo and Gungans are all lame. It suffers from all the same problems as Age Of Kings:

- Really really slow action, where everything takes forever
- Sound is really bad. It sounds sample from someone's VHS copy of Star Wars
- Missions are boring
- Too many units
- So many resources that you spend all your time making drones to chop down trees.

Additionally:
- The graphics are sub-par. The color palletes for things are not right and there's a lot of dithering. It looks really bad.
- Each "race" is essentially exactly the same as the others. All have basically the same units and tech, with minor differences to make it appear that they "balanced" the game.

Do not buy this.

Summary: A lotta fun
Review: Few things are cooler than building 20 AT-AT's and rolling in on some of those Jar Jar Binks things and getting my slaughter on. Of course the process that leads up to all of this is pretty tedious, but in the end, when I'm looking over the charred corpses of the vanquished, and the burned out ruins that was once their home, I feel satisfied. And you will too no matter what race you choose to be. But let's face it; being the empire is the most fun. Sure the movies taught us to cheer for the leftist, crybaby rebellion, but this game allows you to perpetrate all those atrocities that made the Empire so popular among all the fictitious peoples of the galaxy. Watching Darth Vader roll around choking the hell out of people is fun too, even if you don't get to make him do it.
Basically this is AOE, which is no surprise, with SW units. Very little has changed, save for the fact that air units do change things a little. Basically they're useless as they're so easily killed by anti-air units. This strikes me as odd because most the movies revolve around air superiority. You really will have fun with this though, and it's pretty much worth the money you'll spend on it.

Summary: I love it
Review: I just played the SWGB demo.. and I was blown away. This game is so amazing I just couldn't believe it. However there is one small thing I wish it had. AOE2 has it where you can creat your own scenarios and campaigns, I really wish SWGB had this feature, if it did, this game would be perfection!!

Summary: Age of Empires 3???
Review: As an avid Star Wars fan I was extremely excited for the release of this game. I knew it would have some AOE flare based on the screen shots but I underestimated just how much flare it'd have. There's even a paragraph in the manual that addresses AOE players. Avid AOE players may find themselves getting board after the first few games because the play is almost identical but the die-hard Star Wars fan will find hours of endless enjoyment and uninstall AOE forever. Way to go Lucasarts!

Summary: I think that this one is a stinker...
Review: Picture this; I am in a huge hurry to get this off my hard drive as it is a big disappointment! I was looking forward to something new and this is what I get?? Mid ninties graphics and tired RTS gameplay! I can't imagine what they were thinking when they announce they were using an upgraded version of the AoE engine. Some may like this title, at least one can use the editor to design their own scenarios. I am waiting for Empire Earth and already own Battle Realms and will pitch this baby right out the door to get the stench out of my gaming room.

Summary: This game will blow away every RTS game until AOM.
Review: Some people who have not done much thinking on this subject, or on any subject for that manner, have suggested that people cannot rate this game before it comes out. These people are obviously wrong. It is easy to rate a game before it comes out! First of all, you play other games like it (in this case, RTS games) and research them thoroughly. Second, you research this game thoroughly. Thirdly and most importantly, you play the demo. I have done all three. From my extensive experience playing Age of Kings and The Conquerors, I know exactly how an RTS is played, have worked out the balance issues of these games in my head. I know the viable strategies for these games, what works and what does not. Then comes this game; its engine is exactly the same, besides some light improvements. But these improvements are not what make it better. It is the balance issues! Ensemble Studios did a wonderful job balancing Age of Kings, but the balancing on Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds is absolutely sublime. There is now more than one useful strategy in this; the civilizations, though no more unique, have new artsets. There are two choices for units in Tech level 1, for crying out loud! This adds a whole new dimension to the game! In Age of Kings, DRUSHing (Dark Age Rushing) was a good strategy but seldom seen. From what I have seen of the demo, Tech level 1 rushing has become much more common, as has Tech 3 rushing, instead of just boring old Tech 2 attacks. Another thing that helps the game (the minor improvements I mentioned above) are Air Units, Shield Generators, and Power Cores. Air units add one whole new dimension to the game, units that cannot be hit by normal units. Shield Generators add great defensive elements to the game (though the game is still offense-oriented) and are great offensive tools as well. Power Cores make rushing more difficult and the resource carbon more necessary because buildings can't produce units quickly without them. All in all, this game is not only as good as The Conquerors, but better. It will blow every other RTS into the dust, including such disappointments as Empire Earth, until the release of Age of Mythology by the experts at Ensemble Studios. Until then, it is easily the best, partially because of the influence of ES on the project. (As you can see, they are my favorite developers.)

Summary: Awesome Game Both Fun and Challenging For any Star Wars Fan
Review: There is only one thing I have to say about Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds... amazing. As of right now the game is not released (until Nov. 12) but I have played the demo and it looks astounding. If your a star wars fan like me, i'm sure you will love this game. If you are even a fan of command and conquer or star craft games you will truly be happy will a purchase of this game title. I don't doubt for a second that this game, will be a great single and multiplayer experience from when you start and then finish. I don't know about you, but I already pre-ordered a copy of this game. You surely won't want to miss out on your chance to get this awesome title.
