Summary: Homeworld its ups and downs
Review: Homeworld combines the latest 3d effects and a great story line. with over 70 ships at your disposial it makes mutiplayer and single player fun. However with the lower grade cpus and moniters this great game can turn annoying with single digit frame rates on the min procceser power level. it takes half a day to complete a single mission! Also for members of Aol mulit player (except for skirmishes) are not possible! In my mind home world will the foundation from the next generation of games and beyond.

Summary: Not a game, an EPIC.
Review: At first, you may think "Wow, cool graphics!". But HOMEWORLD is really more than that. It has a exellent single-player campain, as well as addictive multiplayer. As a 3D RTS(Real-Time Strategy), the controls are near perfect, as are the graphics, sound, and gameplay. Prepare to enter the world of HOMEWORLD...

Note: If you watch the credits, you get to listen to a song by the legendary band YES!

Summary: Jaw-dropping graphics make this game a must-buy!
Review: Once I stopped staring at the screen in awe, I found this game a lot of fun to play. If you're into strategy games, it's great to find one like this where you actually have to think to win the missions. Unless you're a strategy genius, use the strategy guide to complete the missions. It doesn't take any of the fun out of this game. The interface is outstanding, and once you learn how to manipulate the 3-D environment, it is almost second nature navigating and issuing commands to the different ships and groups. I think the highlights to this game are the soundtrack and the outstanding graphics, even though you need a decent 3-D graphics accelerator with lots of memory to get the high resolutions (I have 32MB). Unlike some games, the screen shots above are actually what you see in the game, and the graphics are just as impressive in the real game. Definately 5 out of 5 stars if I end up playing this game all night. :)

Summary: Awesome Game!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: This game is the best strategey game that is on the market. One of the best features about this game is that it puts you in command of a single ship up to an entire armada. YOu can command a scout ship, or the biggest and baddest of all, the HEAVY CRUISER. Since this game was by Sierra, I new I would be getting more than I paid for. The differences beteween the Game of the Year edition and the 3D Realtime edition is almost unnoticable. If you do have this game or buy this game, you definetly need to get the seqeuel to it called Homeworld: Catalysm. The game of Homeworld that I bought came with the strategy guide. If yours doesn't, run out and order or buy it before you start on the single-player missions, it is a must have for organizing your fleet and destroying your enemy.

Summary: This is one of the best EVER!
Review: First off, this game is one of the best ten video games of all time bar none. It runs with Castle Wolfenstein 3D, Command and Conquer, Warcraft, Doom, etc. This game is purely AWESOME. From the beginning credits with the Adagio for Strings by Barber blaring in you speakers, you are hooked. The story line is very good BUT THE GAME PLAY IS AWESOME. The genius that made the user interface for this game makes the person who tried to make a usable one in Star Wars Rebellion look like a kindergartner.

The tutorial is a must to take, but after 10 minutes you got it.

I FULLY RECOMMEND THIS GAME. I would also recommend it for kids above 8-9 years old. It is an excellent constructivist game (where players build, generate, and create -- and HAVE TO THINK) There is some destruction but it there is no gore and actually no pictures of humans or aliens throughout. Just spaceships.

If you did not understand this review...I will put it into three words. PLAY THIS GAME! (It rocks)

Summary: Great 3D but "Science-Wise" A real DOG
Review: The VISUALS in this game are ABSOLUTELY STELLAR!

I must really commend their programmers and artists! If you are looking for graphic and artistic "WOW"... this is the vehicle you should purchase!!!!!!!

If, however, you are also looking for any type of intellectual, or "Scientific" realism....."LOOK ELSE WHERE!

This SIM is so full of scientific HOLES simply dredging through the "Volumous" manual will make you wonder why the company hired a 12 year old to manage the "Science" of the "Universe" they were creating!

If I wasn't being insulted by the insipid explanations of..."How the intelligentia overcame the volumous problems of technological difficulties..."

I was being insulted by the "Means" in which the same "Scientific Intelligencia" overcame the constraints of basic AstroPhysics!

BOTTEM LINE......

If you are 10 years old.....This stuff is KILLER (NO CONTEST)

If you are >10 years of age.....

STAY! AWAY!

You will have to SUSPEND so much intellect that it will eventually cause you to convulse!

Don't say I didn't warn you!

I attempted to suspend logical thought for three levels......

Eventually I could not become that stupid!

This is a sorry tale!

I wish "Really" that it was not so...

but if you can suspend reality...then this is a KILLER GAME!

Summary: Not Fun
Review: I'm surprised whenever I read a game review. The reviews are usually too long and don't spend enough time covering the disadvantages of games. Plus, there's a bias in that many of the folks who write a review are those who seem to have had a positive experience. I played the first six missions of Homeworld. The game is interesting and has potential, but I found the user interface to be terribly awkward and cumbersome. I played the game "Starcraft" and loved it. As for Homeworld, I learned the rules and all, but it didn't seem like much strategy was involved -- just seemed like a matter of building more ships to kill the enemy, and then working the controls to get your ships to go where you want. My advice is to play a demo of this game before forking over the cash. If you like this stuff, then great. If the user interface becomes less cumbersome, then I'll probably buy future versions. That's all.

Review: Once you get into the game play and solve all of the control issues, you will get deeply involed. Hours of fun and the the game design is great!

Summary: Sure, it's the game of 1999
Review: I hav heard this game for a while, especially from some of my friends who are reviewing games also. They recommended me strongly to play this game. Finally before the end of 2000 I bought this game and wanted to find out what was good in it made them so into it.

The first thing impressed me was not the mother ship or the models of the crafts. It's the music and the story. When I moved to the thrid single mission and heard the line "There is nothing left here for us." and you could see the whole planet was gone. What a feeling of this when all your past was gone just like snapping your fingers.

When I moved on, I learned more from the story and like the music a lot. It made me spend a great deal of time to play the single missions with different approach. I even spent the night to play this when I host the thanksgiving party at my place. Ya, I am too into it back then and want to see where it would go.

The ending was also good when I finished the last mission. Especially when the lady of the core of the computer came out thei ship, it made me a great joy and relief, like to be home again.

Then I tried the multiplayer games and played with other people on line. Well, it's a different taste but also great. I learned a lot through the battles.

Highly recommend this real-time game especially you never tried anything like this before.
