Summary: If you want 3rd Edition DnD, buy Neverwinter Nights
Review: This game was not what they hyped it to be. It was supposed to use rules from the 3rd Edition pen and paper game which it does to an extent but the characters are not only made pretty much for you (whoopee you get to change the name) but you can only have like a total of 4 saved at one time. I was so disappointed in this game that I stopped playing before completing the first dungeon. If you are a Dungeons and Dragons fan, don't waste your money on it.

Summary: Back to development
Review: Let this be a lesson to all game companies: Take your time and develop the game fully. Rushing it out the door to take advantage of the hype results in a bug ridden game that ends up in the budget bin faster than the speed of light. Do not buy this unless you are prepared to be frustrated and send it back.

Summary: It's OK. Fun, but also annoying, repetitive, and bumpy.
Review: I like RPGs. I like D&D. This game, however, was not as good as I would like it to be. Sure, it's D&D, and it is fun for a little while, but aside from that, it has repetitive music, screwish gameplay, and just horrid graphics (at least for the people and enemies). I recommend you play this game before you buy, unless you are a hardcore D&D RPGer, or just someone with lots of money.

Summary: Great Game!
Review: I purchased this game a couple of weeks ago and am almost finished with it. The jerky movements that the other review/s have described is due to not having enough RAM(random access memory) to support the gameplay because, I installed it on my little brother's PC which has very little RAM and he has complained about the same thing. This was easily rectified though I simply installed more RAM on his PC and he now has 256 megs or RAM and the game runs smooth on his cpu. I on the other hand have a great computer with 1 gig of RAM and a really good video card so it has ran smooth for me since installation. However, the game is limited in its originality and the "hack-n-slash" style gets to be repeticious. All in all I would say it is a great game to own. I would recommend that you not purchase this if you want games only like baldur's gate, dungeon seige, and the like. The battle system does take some adjustment but is very easy to learn.

Summary: This gane really sucks
Review: What a letdown!
I love all of the old SSI D&D games, but this is terrible
I thought I might look up this game's review since my party is stuck!
I should have read all of the bad reviews before I bought this

Special Note, Ubisoft produced or created(or whatever) this game, and another piece of dung called Battle Realms(just as buggy, no patches)
I think Ubisoft just churms out games before they are ready

Summary: Am I missing something?
Review: Ok first I will say I am playing it on a very good computer so that may be part of the problem others are having. For me the game installed perfectly with no need to download patches. So far I have not encountered a single bug. In game the graphics are very good much better then most other titles. I am not very far into the game but I have noticed there is very little party interaction, but I do like the combat system. It is very different from the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale system so it may take players a few days to get used to. This is not a great game but it is by no means terrible and so far I have enjoyed the time in game.

Summary: Stagnant Pool of Meaningless RPing - save your gold pieces!!
Review: Ok....You have already seen the reviews and, hopefully by now your not impressed - because I most certainly was not.
Pool of Radiance is basically a flop of a game made by those with little or no knowledge of the 'Hows, Whys and Whats' of good RPing, I have played all the BG titles, the ID titles and a myriad of other good RPG's and this comes nowhere close to even imitation.

The various differences to the game, no character kits, no character depth, limted special abilities, monotonous hack n slash, tedious repeated enemies, and basically no real storyline at all, make Pool of Radiance an exciting tangle of bad programming and mounting frustration.

Some people ask 'How could this game have turned out so bad whilst the Baldurs Gate titles are soaring? Aren't they both made by the same people??' The answer is 'NO' although thats what they want you to think; 'Baldurs Gate', 'Icewind Dale', 'Planescape Torment' and the upcoming 'NeverWinter Nights' are all made by Bioware through TSR.TSR are the previous owners to the Dungeons and Dragons line but still create the PC games (and they do it well). It is the 'Dungeons and Dragons' label that people are fooled by. Both companies have the rights to that label but you need to look on the side of the box to basically see who had a hand in your games creation.
Wizards of the Coast are the ones who produced Pool of Radiance so, if you have a problem with POR (which I do) make sure to know who to tell- Let us not knock those who are doing a good job with the Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale titles, and direct it to the source :)

My advice, continue to be excited by the Bioware releases and save your gold from the Wizards of the Coast.

Summary: Not That Bad...
Review: I bought this game based on the need for a new RPG, of which category I am hopelessly addicted. I didn't listen to the reviews simply because everyone's tastes are different. While I admit that whenever you have to have 4 patches you have a serious problem, that can be overcome. Simply install the patches, and you have a game with great graphics, and a high level of detail. Now that the price has come down, it's not a bad RPG at all. WHERE IN THE WORLD IS BARD'S TALE 4?

Summary: Wake me when it's my turn
Review: Boring, boring, boring. The graphics are very pretty, but how many times can watch the same monsters doing the same thing(walking towards you). When you encounter a large group of monsters, all you get to do is watch the same animation over and over and over, then it's your turn for a second, then the brutal cycle begins again. Some people have appreciated this games translation of the pen and paper game, I am not one of those people. In the pen and paper game, I never remember having to sit through so many almost meaningless moves. Any DM with a brain makes the creatures moves that don't involve an attack simultaeously or at least you don't have to wait and watch the same tired animation. Being an impatient RPGer, I like to cheat my through a couple of times to see what all a game has to offer. This got boring fast. Not many interesting items to find even though the monsters and rewards are tailored to the ability of your characters. I couldn't stay awake long enough to get through with high-level characters. Trying to stay within the rules was even worse. The non-linear layout allows you to explore areas in the order you want, but this gets low-level chars into trouble fast. How are you supposed to know which 'dungeon' to go to first so you party can live long enough to see level 2? Too often you start a supposedly easy dungeon, get to the middle of the first floor, and find a monster powerful enough to squash your party like bugs. I don't mind a challenge in an RPG, but dam, how about a chance to get going? Want an RPG with a story, decent graphics, interesting NPCs, and a chance to able to gain levels? Buy something with 'Baldur's Gate' in the title.

Summary: If your expecting a good AD&D game think agian
Review: Game play is too slow way too slow. Very frustrating game. You go nowhere fast. Now i hear you can't uninstall it with out [messing] up your PC. I was exicted to see a game that takes place in Myth Drannor, but there's nothing to do except kill skeletons or orcs. Save your money and buy any of the Baldur's Gate games.
