Summary: HUGE IMPROVEMENT OVER 2002
Review: Madden 2003 is quite possibly the best football game out there for the PC right now. It kills the competition with it's features. The best new feature of the game is the "Instant Replay Play Challenge". The computer makes real life AI mistakes and it is up to you to catch them just like the real refs!

Summary: One of the best PC sports titles
Review: Madden 2003 is the latest iteration of the famous Madden franchise available on most gaming platforms. For fans of pro football and PC gamers, Madden 2003 is must buy.

The first word of warning: this game has serious hardware requirements. The graphics are excellent and you'll need a high end PC and powerful graphics card for maximum enjoyment. On the right platform, the graphics are one of the strongest features of this game. The weather, shadow and even footprints add texture and realism. Overall, the game looks much better than the Madden 2002 version.

Serious PC gamers will recognize Madden 2003 as a video game port. The game controls are not modified to take advantage of the PC keyboard, mouse and game pad interface. This is mildly annoying because navigating some of the screens, particularly in franchise mode, is not intuitive. The straight port also does not take advantage of the unique strengths of the PC platform.

Game play is good, but this is more a football video game than a football simulation. With longer quarters, you can amass insane offensive and defensive totals. This can be tweaked by adjusting the game sliders. Player modeling is much more realistic than earlier editions. The players have lost the jerky gait of Madden 2002 and there is more variety in tackles and catches. The game looks very much like real football.

Audio has been a longstanding weak point of the Madden series. Al Michaels is a real improvement in the booth and even Madden manages to avoid the level of repetition that has plagued the series.

The best part of the game (other than online play) is the single player franchise mode. This gives you the chance to play the GM of a team, making trades and haggling with agents. Playing with the salary cap on forces the player to make decisions including cutting aging, expensive players (even future hall of famers).

The amount of depth and custom options make Madden 2003 a very deep game. You can customize uniforms, rosters, play with historic teams or create individual players who look like friends or family members. You just haven't lived until you see your best friend stuffing the run as a 350-pound defensive tackle.

Madden 2003 is not a perfect game, but it's fun and well worth the ... price. Without a doubt, Madden 2004 will be released this year, but Madden 2003 still deserves a place on your hard drive.

Summary: Madden 2003
Review: Madden 2003 is with out a doubt the best arcade football game out there. Madden 2003 has many more features than the Madden's of the past. This year they came out with a mini camp mode, where you compete in many exciting challenges. Also the custom team mode is really cool too. You can create your own team, stadium, and uniforms. You can also play franchise mode where you can scout players from different colleges and have individual workouts with them. You can create a player and send him to the Hall of Fame. Madden 2003 is the #1 Selling Pro Football Franchise. It is a great game.

Summary: Long but fun!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Madden NFL 2003 is one of the best sports games I've ever played.
In this game, you can work through 30 years of career stats and player progress. you can even draft, contract, sighn free agents, creat your players, creat pay rolls and trade players with tips from your scouting staff. All this is great, but too play a good game of foot ball, you should have each period about 8-10 minutes long. Playing the game like this took me about 2 hours to play just one game.I tried to play a with each piriod at 5 minutes long, and it wasn't much bether. I relize that foot ball is a long game and has it's share of wistle blows, but to play in franchise mode for 2 hours per game is just to long. One last thing, the computer controled players on the opposite team are imposible to play with. Their QB's are way to good, their blockers are imposible to get by, and when one of my players chases after one of the other teams runners, you can't chatch him. This game is a lot of fun, but will take awhile to play.

Summary: Football was never this much fun!
Review: Okay Okay! Its not as close to watching Football Live on ESPN, but its the best thing on your PC. The graphics are amazing. Simply amazing. Im playing Madden 2003 on my 1.6Ghz, 256MB Ram GForce4 64MB Nvidia and im in heaven. The players move smoothly without any graphical glitches. However there was one thing I found absurd, which was that the players can walk right through their team mates.

The sound is beautiful. The crowd is life-like and their continious cheering really motivates you to score some touchdowns. There is also some In-Game music. If you think thats not enough, then pop in some or all of your favourite MP3's and "Play with the beat".

You also have "Mini-Camp" which allows you to have practice drills which is really helpful. In Multi-Player mode, you can host tournaments and make online-clubs, which allows you to sell or buy players from others online. A really swell idea!

Well thats about it. Bottom line, Madden 2003 is the, I repeat The best football experience on your PC!

Summary: Great graphics, not much fun
Review: The game is full of wonderful graphics. In fact it is very well done. However, the game play needs some definite work. Playing defense is impossible...expect to be scored on every time. The computer never punts, even if you play the worst teams in the league. I am fine with difficult offensive play, but if you punt one time, you lose.

The fact that you can only play exhibition against the computer is also a negative. Play NFL 2K3...it's much more entertaining.

Summary: Gameplay gets sacked with gamepad
Review: The Game looks almost like watching a real game. It imitates very well real NFL situations- Holding penalties, injuries etc.
I have had several problems with the game & have many more complaints. Firstly, Their minimum requirements do not list a Game pad/Controller but it is not possible to call plays using a mouse. After emailing tech support & reporting 3 other game bugs they had no solutions. Actually EA tech support said that Mouse functionality was a "game-play" issue & directed me to a non-EA website FAQ.
Menu/options system they use is deficient & makes it tough to learn the game.
Another thing that is annoying is the Commentary. After just 1 game you have heard the same commentary over & over.
Also- the Update button. Why have an update button if it can't update. I had to manually locate and install Update patch 6.5.
Overall, I think it is probably a great game if you have a hardware configuration to support it, but thats just not the way it has worked out for me so far.

Summary: OK
Review: the graphics are excellent.(using dell 1ghz 250 ram) the interface is cumbersome-player subs, stats etc. the franchise mode is realisitc with salary cap, trades, free agents.
have not got to use my new nostromo gamepad bc it isnt working.
it seems just from looking that it would not be 'gamepad friendly'-the camera angles(sometimes [they stink]), close up while running reminds me of joe montana football. etc
im doing coach/franchise mode with the lions.first season major changes- brad johnson at qb(trade)(still have harrington) deshaun foster-rb(trade),jamal anderson-rb(free agent) also have terrell buckley(free agent) at cb.
my major gripe is ive played 7 games-(4-3)(5 min quaters takes about40 min)and 5 of them went into ot. the highest score yet by me or comp is 21. no matter how good the team is your playing, its always close. hard to break big runs at least with coach mode- foster broke one for 70 yards and it was called back. his other biggest run is 12 yd. comp has never broke more than 15 yard run on me. it will be impossible to lead(even conference) in rushing playing 5 min quarters.(even if you have priest holmes)
on 3rd and short it always does this side view, and if you run, and its close you might not know if you made it until your playcalling screen comes up. you cant see [much] but this [bad] side view.
in conclusion- no game is perfect, but i wish they had put less into graphics and more into more realistric gameplay and a ergonomic interface. they put too much effort into making it look like tv(camera angles) and not making it fun and realistic-playing. old madden games for genesis(92-96) seemed a lot more fun and playable by gamepad. two and a half stars.
will update if i get my gamepad to work.

Summary: Not again...
Review: The Madden NFL series has always been enjoyable, but it is far from superb. I've got 2000-2002, and they are all cursed with the same glitches. Problems like unrealistic zeroing in on the ball carrier and inacurate playbooks (just to name the two sorest spots) subtract from the game's potential enjoyment. If the EA Sports team has managed to improve on the 'same old' quirks, then this one will be a keeper. If not, I wouldn't waste my money.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good, needs better commentary
Review: This game has been great for me. Especially if you have game controllers. The only flaw is the commentary. After one 15 min. quarter game, you've heard all the commentary atleast twice. Sometimes the commentary doesn't make sense with the play. If you decide to run with your QB because your recievers are tied up with the dfense, the commentary will say things about your Tailback running it. Other than that the game is fantastic. If you stand about 10 ft away from the screen it looks amazingly real. I fell in love with the game the second i bought it and i highly recommend it.
