Summary: Max Payne ROCKS!
Review: Playing this game was awesome! I stayed up on a weekened from start to finish without sleep until I beat it.

The script is funny. You'll hear a lot of puns making fun out of movies, etc. Max has one of those cool voices of course. (where do they find these dudes for the voice acting? lol)

The gun fights are great! Bullet time takes everything slow motion so you can pull off diving gun strafes, dodge bullets, etc. The gun fights and graphics are realistic. You can blast people through doors, windows, etc. There are a lot of guns to choose from , plus use duel weapons. I love using two Mac-10s on the bad guys. Nothing is better than seeing 300 bullets hitting people, walls, candy machines, etc.

Summary: The game to measure all others against
Review: This game is and has raised the bar for all other games in this genre. The graphics are superb but they don't necessarily make a good game. What makes it stand out is the gameplay, the style, the action, the story.

The movements take a bit to get used to at first but if you have ever played tomb raider then it won't take long. The bullet time is cool and very useful, you need to master it to complete some of the rooms without taking massive hits.

I have played this game over and over and never get tired of it. The whole style is refreshing and a welcome change. Don't hesitate get it now or beg, borrow, steal a copy. Just play it.

Summary: Horribly unstable
Review: Let me start by saying, that I have a Geforce4 TI4600 graphics card, Pentium 2.0, Soundblaster 5.1 Xgamer soundcard, 1 GIG of memory, DirectX8 and a number of other goodies. Yet this game crashes every other time it tries to load a level, I finally got to play the tutorial after setting the game to low detail, the lowest resolution and turned off all the fogging effects. It plays the opening movie of the main game, but crashes when it tries to load the gameplay.

It is certainly not the fault of my system...the tutorial was cool though. Seems like a fun game but unplayable due to impossible software.

Summary: Max Payne: DOn't let the box fool you, its THE BEST.
Review: When you go down to K-Mart or target, you've probally seen the box of Max Payne. "A man with nothing to lose" it says. You casually yawn and toss it aside, looking down for that new game.

To begin, Max Payne is one of the best games out there right now. While some people may mock the story, the storyline is rich and dripping with greatness.

Buckle up, this game is mindblowing. Not only do you get to use Matrix-like bullet time, but it makes you feel like a mob member/cop. You get rid of the bad guys while staying low with the police.
Bottom line: By far a must get. The only thing bad is it's a tad short.
But then again, people who whine about it being short never try the harder game modes, which take the game to a wholenew level.
Not much blood or gore, go buy it for ages 13 and up if you have a son/daughter who likes great shooters.

Summary: Very Good!
Review: Max Payne is very good and I highly reccomend it. Because of bullet time it is funner then a lot of other games. Bullet time slows down everything around you so you can even dodge bullets. The only bad thing is that it is a little short. Over all it is a great game!

Summary: MAx Payne review
Review: Game is action packed and very violent. High system requirements. It's also quite difficult getting thru many levels without resorting to a little cheating now and then. Controls are thankfully simple. Well worth the money.

Summary: Great Single, differetn
Review: Max Payne is an outstanding game for any 3d-shooter lover. It has a new slow motion in real-time to provide a different experience. The computer AI is good and realalistic. The graphics and sound are great along with the intrigate story. But if you are purchasing this game be very aware that it is one of the most graphic games on the market. it contains a lot of mature content from blood to sex. But the gameplay is handsdown one of the best.
One problem is the lack of multiplayer or on-line play which would not be possible because of the slow-motion capability.

Summary: To the MAX!!
Review: I have had this game for a while, but declined to play it because it did not have any on-line gaming available and with the release of games such as RTCW, MOHAA, and C&C:Renegade, i had played those first and done the on-line thing. So I finally loaded this one up and WOW! The beginning cutscene was amazing. Alot of the game storytelling is done in comic book format and you have the ability to either watch it again or fast forward through it.
The graphics are amazing (they recommend 256 meg of ram and a 64m video card, which I had, which means you may not get the full effect with anything less), the sound eefects and music were awesome, and the controls were just like any other FPS game (I shouldn't call this an FPS since it is played in 3rd person, but hey). Also, there are harder levels of play available after you beat one.
I read one review that said the game looked cool and all, but there was know strategy. Strategy??? You mean there is another strategy besides shooting everything in site? This game definitley had strategy to it. One example was if you just went into a room with guns blazing against 3 or 4 guys, you either suffered significant damage or died (which is what happens most of the time). You have to decide what weapon to use, how you want to go in the room, and which guy to take out first becasue some of the bad guys had weapons that do serious damage. Usually when entering a room where I knew bad guys were, I used the "Dodge and Shoot" alot. With the click of button when you are moving, everything slows down and give you the advantage while you are airborn. Very cool to use abd saves you alot of damage. Then there is the "bullet Time" method which lasts about 5 to 8 seconds (as long as your meter is full). As soon as you press the button, you move in slow motion and it give you the advantage of targeting them and avoiding their fired shots. It's very cool seeing buckshot fly past you in slow notion. A definte advantage you need on certain levels, otherwise you spend alot of time reloading because you will be dead. Another cool feature is if you shoot someone in the head or in a certain area (say, near a ledge) and you see the guy go flying in slow motion. Very cool. Also, some of the levels you had to figure out how to get to the next area and it takes a little thinking, but the way is always in front of you. There was also a level where you had to get Max through his dream and that was pretty cool.
The outside scenery (this takes place during the worst storm NY has ever seen) is awesome. The snow falling all around, sirens in the background, wind whipping all around when you step outside, very nicely done. There were only 2 things I didn't like: They cut to a story board a little too often, & 2, the game was a little short. Other than that, this was clearly one of the most awesome games I have ever played. It had me hooked from the moment I started playing it. Too bad it didn't have on-line play available, but heres too hoping that they make a Max Payne 2 with that capability.
Max Payne is nearly the ultimate game, but hey, no game is perfect. If you want a challenge, then this is the game for because this game is hard.
