Summary: Better than I expected
Review: That's not a typo, the name of this game is actually Soldner. This first person shooter claims to have 2 million miles of terrain to explore.

The character creation is rather nice. There are amazing combinations of helmet, clothing, design, etc. to truly make a character that reflects your attitude. The chance of finding someone else just like you in the game is slim.

Game graphics are rather decent. There are various terrains, rain, snow, fog. There are buildings, forests, meadows. In addition, the terrain is deformable. You can shoot out the glass windows, blow up the buildings, knock down the trees. The buildings send up clouds of smoke as they fall.

On the downside, though, the graphics engine is very flaky. You can be driving along a road and POOF it'll vanish beneath your feet, only to reappear later on. It might temporarily turn at a 90 degree angle and then revert to its normal orientation.

Sound is reasonably good, with stirring battle music and sounds of gunshots and tanks seeming relatively realistic. There isn't much ambient sound to truly immerse you, though.

Single player is quest based, moving from task to task. You can take over tanks, jeeps and other vehicles along your road to glory.

In multiplayer, you're on a server with up to 32 people. Unfortunately the servers - including the patch server - seem to be randomly sick, making it hard to even try out the online gaming.

While this is a great concept, it doesn't seem to be quite fully implemented. The long load times, flaky graphics, and server issues keep adding 'speed bumps' in your enjoyment, which might ultimately cause you to just go play another game that works properly.

Summary: redefining bad games
Review: This game is really really bad. There is no way of telling if whos on your team and who isn't. When you shoot a tank with another tank a crater forms underneigth the tank that swallows the tank. The graphics are poor at best, with even worse animations. The physics are mediocre, with tanks catching huge air from jumping craters. The sound effects are okay, but when you crash vechicals into buildings it sounds as if a bomb just went off. Though the worst thing about this game is that it was lagging on single player on my 3GHz pentium 4, 1 GB Ram, ATI 9800 pro 256. Your way better off buying a good game like something from the battlefield series.

Summary: I LOVE THIS!
Review: Unlike most games, you don't walk into a one mile map loaded with maniacs and 10 different vehicles, you get MORE! The destruction system is great, except it has flaws when you get into a non timelimit server. Tanks cause craters, and you even get a realistic feel when making them. Cars range from sedans and SUVs to HEMTT mobile respawn vehicles. All of the vehicles react different. On most maps, Daytime/nightime features can aid or hinder your attack. As in, Bring out your AH-64s at day, then whip out night planes for some serious bombing. I have one problem, though. The sniper kit will really ruin parts of the base, but it's no problem. Get an M1A1 Abrams and shell everything! Planes have MiGs to secret Raptors, Night planes to transport planes (lag mobiles). Each building is accessible, and I found an awesome map. FIRST STRIKE. It has a four minute fly over a long strip of ice, then a two minute cruise over pure ice cold water, which comes to an island an and easy- to - destroy base. It is fun sneaking throught buildings, preserving everything (so noone thinks your are trying anything sneaky) and them rigging the base. You can hog fences, dive through winodows (which make a lot of noise, espionage people) and even climbing ladders to tops of buildings. It even has a lock-on stinger system for knocking te enemys' fresh new Commanche to peices. It is an awesome game and I reccomend it. I could talk about it forever. You will like it when you sneak past 16 people, a guard tower, a few unpatient people buying choppers, and going RIGHT by them all. I did. And, I made the base a bit smaller. Just buy it.

Summary: The usual fourleaf clover.
Review: Unlike the majority of people who spent their time writeing long negative reviews about this, there is one thing they have forgot to mention.

The play expirience in this game is so much different from any other FPS/3rdPS out there. The fact that the levels are huge makes it uniquely great because... listen to this... you can actually do COVERT things. Much unlike UT20XX and BF and CoD. This game you actually have the ability to move stealthy all the way to your objective and let yourself be seen only at the last crucial moment... I've played lots of squard based games... for close quaters and major battle fields, and nothing can match the feeling playing this game creates.

On the other hand. Sure the graphics arent hugely magnificent... SO they didn't team up with Nvidia to create some crazy expensive driver... or do what others do gank one from a more popular game. All this did was give them slightly less texture quality for major addition to game customization... and yes you can blow buildings up, and destroy chunks of the landscape with explosives, and sorry if every spec of dirt is flinging towards your face, but most explosions all you see is smoke.

For what seems like a new company they have really created a good game, and battle enviroment.

As for bugs... its a new game... no matter what the game type is or who its by if its NEW it has bugs that have to be worked out AFTER its release... hence the patching

5 Stars for hilariously fun(yes my friends and I have so much fun we die laughing) events ingame either a giant airstrike on a enemy base, or a covert sniper team and a few rockets to destroy major targets this game is a different extremely nice break from the average shooter.

Summary: Another Counterstrike? Or Even Better?
Review: Well, after playing two of the games I've found out each game has it's own uniqness. Counterstrike was game of the year for many years, but has lost its popularity due to the amount of hackers. Soldner is coming out (...) Will this game dominate the shooter genre scene? or will it become a burn? I feel this game will get far, only because the amount of intensity that is involved. Tons of guns, and Tanks, with helis, and Vtol aircraft, taunts , and many more. If you all haven't played the demo get it now..You won't be disappointed...

Summary: A good game with some problems
Review: When I first downloaded the beta version of Soldner:Secret Wars I went into the game like a blind mouse. I soon figured out that this was no ordinary 3rd person shooter, it was a massivley customizable war experiense. This game was like an RPG for modern combat. I aslo relized that the most inexperienced gamer could not just join in and start owning every one they saw, instead of a game where you just pick a gun, you use fake money and "purchase" weapons, the better the weapon the larger amount of money. In order to buy better guns you have to play and earn the money. The Unit Customization System(UCS) allows for thousands of different choices, it will be awhile until similar players start showing up. The buildings in soldner can have holes blown in them( by tanks, rockets, grenades, etc.)The only down falls I found with soldner, in the beta demo, is that not all of servers for online play are reliable, the loading process is very long and has nothing to entertain the player, amd the last problem i have seen is that while in first person your gun seems to disappear, and that the hans dont seem to adjust to the gun(i.e. if you have an M4 with a 203 grenade launcher on the bottom the hand seems to be going right through the 203 launcher and holding the barrel. If the full version fixes the different problems found on the beta demo then this game will get a full five stars by my standards.
