Summary: Almost... almost a good game
Review: This is a good game and it could have been a five star only if it didn't have a few problems with it... I'll keep this short and simple. When there is two enemies securing the area and you shoot one of them in the head, the other enemy which is two feet away is just standing there like nothing happened. Another example is when enemies just appear out of nowhere instead of calling for back up, they would just appear on the screen. Although the environments are almost alike it's still an adventurous game. The weapons are realistic and sound real too... I would say go and buy it but not strongfully recommend it as one of the best games out there. I like it, just a few problems but it's still fun. It's a good game...

Summary: Almost , but not quite a great game
Review: I have only played the demo and while it is challenging I am not sure if I like the interface or not. I mean I prefer to press the up button to climb up a ladder not wait for a little picture of the guy climbing to appear and clicking on it to carry out the depicted action. My biggest problem was that it wouldn't let me use my arrows on the keyboard to turn right or left. I am not used to using the mouse as I have always used my keyboard to control the character. But I hope they'll have a patch to fix that soon, it looks like a truly good game. I did find cheats online for IGI, but they wouldn't work when I tried to implement them.

Summary: This game will ... you off
Review: Ive played 1st person shooters since wolfenstein. Ive seen em all, and none of em have ... me off more than this game. The graphics are ok, the wepons are alright, but the AI, and the enemy respawning is just plain stupid. You can clear a little shack, then set off an alarm, and all of a sudden, men will start running out of the shack you just cleared like 10 seconds ago. I like the part about being able to shoot through walls and stuff, thats alright, but the repeated graphics really .... Outsides, and insides of every building are identical!...

Summary: Save your cash...
Review: This game is one of the worst shooter games I've played within the last 10 years.

I cannot stress enough on how bad this thing is. Others have covered the details on why it's so schitty. The AI is very dumb. You can execute someone and the person in the next room just keeps on smoking like they never heard a thing.

The bad guys respawn endlessly, but your ammo does not. It may take you 30 minutes or more to get to a certain point, only to be killed by some cheap hip shot from 1/2 a mile away. Have fun starting all over again.

Save your cash and buy Ghost Recon or Call of Duty.

Summary: Did they play test it ?
Review: The basic idea behind the game sounds fun. You're an SAS officer, sent off on a number of missions to save the world. It's a standard FPS shooter, made a bit more exiting by the 3D landscape engine which allows the action to take place across large outdoor environments.

The emphasis is on "real-world" fighting - where taking a couple of shots will kill you, and so you spend most of the time creeping around hoping not to be discovered.

There are plenty of gadgets to play with too. The Satelite camera allows you to view the action around you from above, and zoom in on activity in outdoor areas. When you use the camera, the map is shown full-screen and the action caries on around you in "real-time". If you're not careful you can get killed while looking at the map.

This "real-world" emphasis can be great (try games like SWAT3), but the game designers need to finely balance "reality" with "fun". Unfortunately this is where Project IGI shoots itself in the foot (as it were).

I couldnt even get past the first level on "normal" difficulty. I'm not that bad at games (I've completed Half-life, Star Trek Elite Force etc.), but try as I might I couldnt get through the first mission. I'd get 5 minutes into the level and get shot by a sniper - there's no save game feature, so you have to go back to the start of the level. A boring 5 minutes spent working through the part of the level I'd already completed, shoot the sniper... and then got shot by someone else. Guess what ? Another 5 minutes going back over the exact same level again!

After I'd played through the same part of the same level 10 times I just got bored and went to play something more fun instead.

As far as the rest of the game goes, other than the outdoor maps, there is very little special about the graphics - they're pretty much Quake2 engine standard (sub Half-Life). All that running around, climbing ladders etc. is pretty passe these days (how old is Tomb Raider ?), and there is really nothing new that this game does.

I originally bought the game because PCGamer UK gave it a good review. As it stands, without a save game feature, I wouldnt recommend it to anyone. If Eidos get around to patching the game (there's no sign of it yet), and adding the ability to save your progress within a mission I might start playing it again. As it stands, I'll stick with SWAT3 Elite Edition... "The element is behind you!" or Counterstrike.

Pro: 1. The satelite camera is quite cool. 2. Outdoor environments make a change from usual FPS.

Con 1. You cant save your game. 2. Too easy on "easy". 3. Impossible on any difficulty setting above "easy" (partly because there is no save game option). 4. No multiplayer. 5. Dodgy voice acting.

Summary: If at first you don't succeed, try try again....
Review: Ok, I can't spell good, so try to figure out any misspellings. Project IGI to me is just another Delta Force or Rainbow Six game. It's fun to play for maybe 45 minutes at a time maximum. According to the game, stealth is a must, but so far I have found no matter what, you end up with a blood bath on your hands. The gameplay is smooth though, and when you have AI teammates, they aren't total idiots (although they cause you to replay missions over and over). The no ingame save feature doesn't bother me too much, since I only play games when I have time to play a whole mission. The boring part is when you just can't seem to end a mission without dying, so you have to go through all the same stuff in the beginning, which tends to make me play a little more sloppy for some reason. The other thing it lacks is letting you chose your equipment at beginning of missions. Other than that, its worth the buy. Ppl who like Delta Force and Rainbow Six should love this game.

Summary: An Unexpected Classic
Review: Besides Half-Life IGI may be the best first person shooter on the PC. The enviroments in the game are amazing and endless. The graphics are spectacular! You can fend off enemies with stealth tactics and a great aresenal of weapons. This game is very challenging and will take a while to finish making it even more fun. Definitley consider getting this game no matter how bad the other reviews are.

Summary: One of the best realistic shooters around!
Review: If you bought Soldier of Fortune, then you really will love this game. It is one of the most comprehensive and realistic shooters I ever bought and I am happy with it. I bought it at Best Buy not really knowing what I was getting, but when I got it home and installed it and played the first half of the first mission, I knew this game would be my favorite for the PC. Perfect Dark for Nintendo 64 was a great shooter, and the Delta Force trilogy were my favorites, the third one being my favorite of the three because of realistic content and awesome graphics. But hands down, if you are into stealth, and are not afraid to keep dying on one mission until you have finally figured out the whole mission and can pass it with maybe an ounce of blood left in your veins, then you will certainly want this game. Who wants cruddy graphics like Soldier of Fortune where the players look like the Blockheads in Gumby shows?? Come on, this shooter has got to be hands down one of the best, if not the best. Deus Ex is good and the graphics are really awesome, but you will have hours of fun playing Project IGI. If you buy it, you won't be disappointed, unless you like games you can pass with cheat codes! This game as of yet, has no cheat codes, which makes it all the more challenging. I am barely on the 6 level I believe and still cannot pass it. That is what makes it all the more challenging. Go buy this game, you will not be disappointed. Unless, like I said, you are into wimpy EASY shooters that ANYONE can pass!
