Review: The Red Alert Expansion pack is pretty cool. you can have Yuri Primes and such which means.... You can take over the whole. You have no use for tanks and infantry anymore, except for escorts, etc

Summary: A Fine Game
Review: Command and Conquer has given the gaming world all that it will ever need in real time strategy. The intense action-packed movies and gameplay keep gamers satisfied for hours, even days, with it's power.

The only downside I have to say about this game is a slight inequality between sides, but really it makes sense in the kind of war we're talking about here. I think that the Command and Conquer game makers are masters at giving the world what it wants- and this is the latest and the best.

Summary: 50% Good
Review: All I have to say is when you order the "pack" make sure they send ALL the serial codes to load the game! Spent the money got the games but received only one serial code for the pack (Red Alert 2). Yuri's revenge required a separate code which was not included, so now I can enjoy half the game and use the Yuri's Revenge disk as a coaster or maybe a colorful mini-frisbee!

Summary: Thoroughly enjoyable
Review: This game was not exactly what I was expecting, but for only $20, I was NOT disappointed. When it was released, I really thought about buying it, I'm glad I waited for the $40 - $50 price tag to come down... normally, I like to be the first one on the block to play one of the ones I have played in the past.

Generals is a variation on the original Command & Conquer series and is not another updated version with a new name and additional units and plays, for the most part, without any sort of a similar "storyline". The RTS aspect is solid, the ai is pretty good, and the player interface is adequate (but took a little getting used to) - it's available at a fair price and worth purchasing. If I had bought this game at the original price I doubt I would have had any further interest in buying any of the the future versions of C&C, but for another $20 I will probably pick up the Zero Hour expansion pack.... something that should probably have been a free update to those that paid the initial price.

The only complaint I would make is the "view" ... it's the type of view that drops to more of a "ground level" perspective like in Empire Earth or Total War:Rome rather than a true zoom/unzoom available in a Age of Empires/ Rise of Nations or even SimCity... Generals was quite enjoyable even though that feature is not my preference.

Other than that, I thought it was fun and challenging and well worth the $20 price tag.

Summary: The Best ever!
Review: Red alert is an extremly frn game. Wether its the soviets or the alies you can be the ruler of all. In the alied campain you are more defensive then offensive. On the other hand, being the soviets you are ofensive. Also on the skirmish mode you can in a way make your own levels with up to eight players. You can also save maps you make and you can save skirmish levels in the middle. Being The alied you can have airplanes which are faster then the soveit's ziplins. In the begining of the skrimish games the soveits are faster at relasing attaks but the allies can teleport and get money faster. but usaly the soveits run out of money early and have to wait. A fun game and i would consider geting it. The game is a bit long to complete both campains

Summary: Awsome!!
Review: This game rocks!! I love Red Alert and Red Alert II, but this game is 20 times better! It's real time strategy about wars that are similar to the wars we are facing across seas. I highly recomend this game, and if u have spare money, get the expansion pack zero:hour, which expands your battle options. But overall, this game is the best game C&C has come up with!!

Summary: A big dissapointment
Review: Buying this game when it came out was a mistake i think to this day. C and C previous titles were ones to marvel at, this one is one to chuck in a garbage can. The missions are somewhat amusing and the terran is ok, but the subject of the game that really mad me, dare i say, cry, was the game's shortness and terrible unit graphics. In Generals, you play in 3 campaigns, terroist, chinesse, and AMERICAN, however, with only ten missions, +or-, you can get through the game, quite quickly. Also, being in 3D, i expected some quality of the game sprites, or on ground units, however, they dissapointed me greatly. With its extreme shortness, lack of modes, and basically, i came to conclude that this game, fell far short of reaching the shrine of C and C games

Summary: Awesome Multiplayer, Cruddy single
Review: When you first pop that cd in and install the game, the first thing the diehard C&C fan will notice is the opening movie that seemingly has nothing to do with a story. Once you get into the game, however, you realize the story has really taken a back seat in this game. This becomes one of the biggest flaws in the game. Thinking back to the previous C&C releases by Westwood Studios, I was always blown away by the good stories and the wonderful cutscenes blending live action and CG animation. They were the glue in the games, the part that made it realistic and immersive. The characters had personality and human traits that made you feel like they were really there. Generals, however, is very lacking in personality. The cutscenes that you looked forward to between missions are gone, only in game graphic videos are used(including some flagrant use of bullet time). While these look pretty cool, they aren't enough to build a story. Instead of having a human brief you on whats happening and what your mission is, you are thrown into new scenarios every mission where a faceless voice barks commands. The bottom line in terms of the story is that Generals is simply uninspired. There is nothing about it that makes you say, "Wow, this is awesome." like the rest of the games in the series, which is a shame, because there is a lot of potential.
Now that I've finished with the poor story aspect, on to the gameplay. This is where the game excels. The first thing i noticed about the game when i started playing, was that it plays a lot more like starcraft or warcraft than it does a C&C game. Instead of having a sidebar with units listed that you can build, you build units at their respective buildings. You also have to construct buildings with a unit, rather than building them on the sidebar and having them magically appear. You also get a lot more control over your units, with more options for control, such as a more defined guard function and attack move options. Mysteriously missing is the deployment options from Red Alert 2. The three sides in the conflicts are all very defined, and have their individual strengths. The US specializes in strong single units and high technology, while the Chinese specialize in brute force and huge numbers of people. The GLA specialize in simple, dirty tactics such as suicide bombing and poison attacks. Each side plays differently and requires unique strategies. The individual units are all very well done too, each one with a very specific use. Gameplay does have problems though, especially dealing with long range units. If a unit is being attacked by another unit that is out of its range, it will just sit still and let itself be killed rather than attack its assailant. This is very frustrating to deal with, especially when you're having to micromanage over a large area, its difficult to babysit each one of your units. Another complaint is that the computer AI is extremely bipolar. During the battles, it is extremely aggressive, and attacks almost constantly from different sides, but as soon as the battle starts to turn, it rolls over and stops entirely. Beyond all the little issues, however, the gameplay is very good, with good variation and addictiveness. The graphics and sound are also superb. Its great to see humvees driving around with headlights on when its night. There is a lot of attention to detail.

C&C fans will definitely want to own this game, but most will probably be disappointed with the lack of inspiration in the story(or lack thereof).

Recommended?: Yes, any RTS fan will want to play this game.

Summary: Most Important PC Game Ever!!
Review: There are so many reasons this game was so good. First of all, its like five years old, so its like a old platinum hit. second, it is still fun, though i havent played it in about a year. Lost my copy, and all my other copies( you can copy the cd to play on LAN and the cd works) and i just said no, its time to move on, but i am still here to make my piece with it. Anyways, this game was the first REAL FUN war game around. Starcraft was ko by then. This game only lags if you have like a million guys on the field, (I mean a million) and then they all die, and it stops lagging, and then you buy another batch to send into the grinder. Its fun when you wall off a tiberium patch, and then send in the infantry! Just walk around and watch the butts be born(technically theyre called visceroids). Then when theres enough, (...)mutate into a huge killing butt--- warning all butts are violent and extremely dangerous.

Summary: Undoubtedly one of the greatest games of all time.
Review: When this came out (all those years) little did I think I'd still be playing (quite regularly) come September 2004. Forget the single player game - it's good, but should merely serve as an introduction to the units, controls etc. before you take your skills online.

Multiplayer is where this game comes into it's own. Admittedly it can be a bit intimidating for newbies, and you WILL be beaten to a pulp initially by the more experienced players, but the nature of the game will keep you coming back. "What did I do wrong?", "Maybe I should rush his base, or send a few engineers across before he builds a flak cannon." etc. - the depth and strategy are practically limitless.

On the downside I'd say there are a lot of idiots on the servers, but just like the real-world there are a lot of friendly folks on there too. Also there are some cheap tricks (cheats) some people use to rack-up tournament points, but you can generally spot the idiots pretty quickly and ignore them in the future.

To summarise I'd say RA2 is like chess on steroids and everyone should try the multiplayer game at least once.
