Summary: UT, best fun on the internet
Review: This game has the best variety in game play vs. all the other first person shooters. It is probably the most fun to play over the internet, especially capture the flag. The maps and graphics are outstanding and the weapons variety has no equal compared to any unmodified first person shooter. I must say that Quake 3 is a dissapointment when compared to Unreal Tournament, however, the game play is faster in Q3, but UT is far more fun.

Summary: The maps and intricacy beats everyone!
Review: One thing Unreal has that Quake 3 doesn't is the maps (gaming environments/levels.) I'm continually blown away by their awesome graphics and ingenuity. Gameplay itself is also more complex, with a wider array of weapons and other options.

Some may disagree, but Unreal is more strategic than Q3. Of course, both require immense amounts of skill, Unreal is not as "In-Your-Face-Kill-Kill-Kill." This is especially true in some of the available Unreal mods (free, downloadable sub-games with different rules and goals than the retail version) like Counter Strike. The complexity of the maps and gameplay attributes to this most fundamental difference between the games.

Of course the flip side of this, is that deathmatch and capture-the-flag modes seem slightly more artificial than in Q3, in regards to the player-to-player intimacy of the game.

Usually it comes down to personal preference. People tend to like one or the other. Q3 is my fav, gameplay is just more carefree. But even so, I player Unreal as well. The games just have two different personalities...both are great.

I reccommend to get both (You can never have enough games, especially good ones.) And with any multiplayer game, explore the fan sites, download additional maps and mods, and immerse yourself in the experience.

It's all about fun.

Summary: Unreal Tournament > Quake 3
Review: Quake 3 just can not compare to Unreal Tournament. This game is the king of shooter games. Why? It just all works together. The levels go in so many variations from running through caves, to being in a street alley, to jumping rooftops of skyscrapers. The guns are great, esp with their secondary fire feature. The use of color/detail is very vivid, and not bland/dark like Quake 3. The background music is amazing, and the graphics are smooth and crisp. Not to mention this game has an excellent bot feature, and has more than just deathmatch. We have all played capture the flag, but also domination where your team tries to rack up the most points, and assault where one team attacks the base, one team defends the base. Best game I own now. Out.

Summary: UT vs Q3
Review: I can't even find my q3 disc, i LOVE this game!

Summary: King of FPS DM Games .. for now
Review: While the online debate rages as to Q3 versus UT, I would argue that there is room for both.

That being said, if you only had cash to purchase one of the two heavyweights, I would probably recommend this first. Out of the box it offers a more complete gaming experience over the competition with more styles of gameplay and better bot support.

The Ups: Lots of different things to do with this game. Fun maps. If I had to pick one word for UT it would be: FUN. It has a feel that is very unique, but is quite enjoyable. The bots are pretty amazing as well.

The Downs: Not quite as pretty to look at, even with a super-dee-duper video card, as I expected.

Overall: A simply amazing game, considering how much they put into one little box. Lots of fun on line or off. One of my top regulars.

Summary: ADDICTING!!!
Review: If you have little time, a family life and for that mattter, any type of life, do not buy this game!!! You will quickly become a UT addict spending many hours of your life in front of the monitor, destroying your eyes. Loved ones will begin to hate you, unless you get them a CD also.

This game is the best out there. You will be amazed at how addicted you will become. The graphics are amazing, the realism is incredible.

If you do not have a great video card and tons of RAM, do not buy this game. I recommend at least 128MB with a really good video card, at least 16MB of RAM on it.

I play on a 200 MHz with 128MB RAM and and a 64MB Voodoo card. The performance with that system is pretty dam good. Obviously if you have a lot more of any of those devices, you are in great shape. If you are going to play on the net, I recommend playing on the "Bitchslap server". This is probably where you will find the best players. Hope this helps...

Look for me on the above UT server with the alias "MCSE2NV"

Summary: Best FPS Game on the Market
Review: This review will be short and sweet. If you want to learn about the in depth aspects of this game there are plently of truthful, well written reviews on this same page. The bottom line for this game, BUY IT! I bought this game over 6 months ago and I still play it EVERYDAY. Multiplayer is OUTSTANDING (try to find a good Capture the Flag Server), Single player is Extremely Fun with Great Maps, and as Far as Gameplay for your money goes U can't go wrong for $30.00 for this game.. But it now, or you'll regret it later.

Summary: A very good shooter game!
Review: Buy this game, no matter what the price. This game has all the assets of a good first-person shooter, weapons with different strengths and weakness, fast paced, different modes of play, and YOU CAN ACTUALLY DUCK, JUMP IN ALL DIRECTIONS, AND MOVE SIDEWAYS WITHOUT TURNING, unlike Doom and some other FPS games. Playing online is always fun, and network play is just incredible. Although it has a little more violence than I want it to be, it's still great! I had to give it 4 stars for a couple of small mishaps about the game, nothing major nor irratating, but can bother you at certain times. I have the fastest processor on the market, a 1GHz AMD Athlon with 200 MHz motherboard, a very quick and good 64MB graphics card, and 384 MB of RAM, use a 72X CD-ROM for the CD and have a 1.5 MB DSL connection (T1) that is around 800KBPS, and I still have frame rate problems and lags during online and single multiplayer games. Another minor glitch is that you need a different driver for in order for the gfx card to work at its full potential, not DirectX. The biggest problem in the game is that the maps are easy to memorize and if you play a while, you can know your way around every map and have a big advantage when playing beginners at the game, and the games can last for up to two hours, because everyone knows where the power ups and the shield belt and etc. are. But anyway, this game is fun, no matter how long the game is.

Summary: Who knew shoot-em-ups could be so much fun!
Review: Okay, I'll admit it. I got a little left behind at some point. I never was real into the first-person shooters like Doom or Quake. I just thought they were somewhat mindless, and vastly preferred adventure and RPG type games that had good plots and didn't rely so much on quick fingers and killing people.

Well, I have to say, I've been converted by this game. I probably would never have even tried it had I not been surrounded by guys playing it at work. Didn't want to be left out, so installed it on my system, apologized ahead of time for my pitiful relexes, and jumped right in.

Was I ever surprised! The team play features make this so much more fun, and greatly help someone who is quite new to this genre. I love that you just respawn when you die, it makes it so much less frustrating for a new player to not have to keep starting over from the beginning. As anyone knows, learning HOW to play games often is a big hurdle, and can take away from the enjoyment of a game if it is made difficult enough that experienced players get a lot out of it. Unreal Tournament does a great job of giving you a game that many levels of players can enjoy at the same time. By playing with a team, it can help develop a new player even more, as your team members can take up the slack while you are learning the ropes, and help you out in terms of where to go...it helps so much to have someone to follow when you are trying to return the flag on a big, confusing map!

The single-player game is quite good, and I am now working my way up through that to improve my playing with the rest of the guys. The only one I'd complain about is Assault which really becomes too hard too fast for me to really be successful. But I imagine most players don't have a problem with it, and thankfully the bots are so good in this game, they often can handle the fight even without me.

The maps are gorgeous, and even better, there are lots of other maps out there to get. Other mods are great fun to play with, I particularly like playing with relics. I've become a real master at grabbing the skull and then going in and letting myself get killed (I'm good at getting killed) to take out a whole slew of enemies. Whether it's sitting in the sniper's nest and getting to hear that "GODLIKE" call, running in, grabbing the flag and making it back alive with 4 enemies after you, scoring an ultra kill, or what not, it's all great fun.

I did try internet play just for the heck of it, to see how it did over my yucky internet connection (I get maybe 28 kbps out in the country) and was pleasantly surprised. There were still a number of annoying pauses, but the game was still quite playable and I had the thrill of actually beating a rather good player in a one-on-one Capture the Flag. Consider me hooked!

Summary: Takes the FPS to a new level
Review: If first person shooters are your thing, UT is next level. Great graphics and cool characters. Definitely for MATURE audiences though. Very gory and the language is pretty raw too. There's team play with Capture the Flag and Team Assalts and there's the good old fashioned Deathmatch. On line play is great too. Overall an A+ for this game.
