Summary: A very rich game; just wish it were harder
Review: As a veteran of puzzle-oriented games, I find they fall into two categories generally: heavy on plot, or heavy on intellectual puzzle-solving. "Journey" is of the former type. I love the fact that there IS a very well-developed plot and there ARE very well-developed characters, but the solutions to puzzles are dropped in your lap most of the time, between the protagonist's conversations and her journal. A couple of times they weren't obvious, and then they were nearly impossible to come up with.

That being said, my husband and I are having a wonderful time playing this game. As a woman, I can say that having a female protagonist for a change is a great thing, although I do wish some of the women would be in NON skin-tight clothes occaisionally, but I'm not about to tell the gaming industry who their primary audience is. The graphics are lovely, except that for some reason, the well-rendered characters with fairly realistic movement are completely incapable of interacting realistic with any of the objects. We don't know what's up with that.

My only other small nitpick is the language. For myself, I find it very entertaining/refreshing, but I was thinking that having a toggle would be nice. I would have loved to share this game with my preteen cousins, because the story-telling way of leading you through the puzzles would be very good for younger players. However, if I gave this to them, my uncle would never speak to me again, I'm sure.

I would *definitely* recommend this game, particularly if you want something that tells a story and whose puzzles aren't in the same league as, say, the MYST family.

Summary: The first thing you should know
Review: Technical support is not available. Funcom has gone on to other things, you won't be able to get a reply from them, and you won't be able to join the forum at their website. According to rumor on the web, they have reassigned all their support people to other games.

Much of the plot is revealed in live-action movies, and these would almost always crash back to the desktop. I've finished the game, but still haven't been able to see several of the movies, so I missed some major plot points. If you have problems like this, you are completely on your own.

It's a fun game, and only missed the 5th star because of the tech support. That's a shame, because this would have been one of the classic, "must play" games in this genre.

The game carries a "Mature" (+17) rating, due to some "strong" language your 12-year-old probably hears every day. I'd be more concerned that understanding much of the interaction does require a grown-up point of view.

An unusual feature is gameplay through a viewpoint character, art student April Ryan. This is very different from the anonymous "you" exploring in first-person the worlds of Myst, Riven and most other games in this genre. Instead, you tell April what to do, and she mostly does it. I liked this interface a lot, and April quickly became one of my favorite characters.

Summary: I loved this game
Review: While I had some glitches with my Windows 2000 OS, this game was one of the richest, most interesting games I've ever played. I loved the story-line, and the graphics were as good as I've seen, without being so heavy handed that the logic & play suffered. April Ryan is a much more complex character than other role-playing women I've seen, and the story really does move along. The challenges are just that-- challenging-- but they are also DO-able. You don't get stuck not being able to figure something out and quitting in frustration. Things tend to click along at a fairly quick pace sometimes, and sometimes they are harder and require some real thought.

I would only hope that they would do another adventure for April...

Summary: AWSOME
Review: I never played an adventure game before this one and I just have to to say, I LOVE THIS GAME! You really get to know the characters and the world they live in to a HUGE extent. I found the dialouge to be very funny at times. This is the only game that has ever made me cry with joy.

Summary: best adventure game ive ever played
Review: I started playing adventure games with my mom back around the age of five or so, but lately I havnt been able to find any worth playing. Suddenly, I came across TLJ and my faith in the industry was completly reawakened. The storyline is captavating and envolving, the world is intriguing and addicting. Its not exactly fast pace, and you have to listen to ALOT of dialog, but that was ok for me. It was like reading a really good book, with graphical rendition. I couldnt put it down. All in all, it was the best game I have played in along time of any genre. Considering how well it set itself up for a sequel, I hope we get one soon.

Summary: Very Good Game
Review: This is a wonderful game. The story is well written and the puzzles the right degree of difficulty that challenges without putting you off the game. The graphics are quite good and so are the sounds. However, I didn't like the ending, it was a little disappointing and that's the main reason I did not give 5 stars. It's not the ending is unexpected, it just seems that the story built up to something different and when you get to the end, you feel that the writers needed something fast, so they came up with this.

All in all, it's definitely worth playing.

Summary: Wonderful game, although it leaves you hanging
Review: I can not begin to describe how wonderful this game is. I spent hours delving into the character of April Ryan, not to mention captivated by the mystery of Stark & Arcadia. This is a game filled with breathtaking scenery and heartbraking moments.

Their is an enormous of dialogue, but it serves to tell you the story of the two worlds, and enhances the game play if you can sit through it all.

The only thing that keeps me from giving it four stars however is the frustration I was left with at the end. After hours upon hours of game play the writers left you with so many unaswered questions. A sequel to fill in these details and hopefully the rest of April and Crow's adventures (which are hinted at later on) will definately boost this game up to 4.5 stars! (the excessive explicit language and extensive dialogue will unfortunately keep it at 4.5).

(There is a lot of adult language in this game, thus I do not recommend it for children, or for younger teens).

Summary: Long but Good
Review: I have played a lot of adventure games but this by far was the best! It has a futuristic setting and its based on the two worlds of Stark(our world) and Arcadia(and the magical world). The scenery is awesome and although the actual characters in the game aren't really the best there could be the graphics are good. Every aspect and every view of the storyline is detailed, they leave nothing out. Its also very funny at times and very serious also. In short its Great! By the end of the game you'll find yourself believing that somewhere out there is the world of Arcadia. Oh and I'm quoting GAMESPOT- "It's not that it leaves you unsatisfied it's that it leaves you wanting more." That is so true I can't wait for the rumored sequel.

Summary: Nice for a change
Review: Keeping this short...

What I enjoyed most about this game was that it was a challenging, beautifully done adventure game where the main character is a FEMALE. It was a refreshing change to see a girl as protagonist and able to play as her.
