Review: If endless running, shooting, battling, running, shooting, battling is not your thing, then I highly recommend you take this journey with April Ryan. Great scenery, not so very complicated puzzles and a nice ending make for lovely adventure.

Review: First, let me say that I'm a 53-year old gamer who doesn't care for ultra violence and gore, and no longer has the reflexes necessary for the "action" games. I've been playing computer games since the original Zork (walk south ... open door)... Keep that in mind as you read on ....I agree with many of the other reviewers that there was a LOT of talking in this game (although you can zap through much of it) and there are times when everything is SO slow (like in that *&$%_*&$ library!). Also, I am completely opposed to the kind of foul language used in the game. No one would have noticed its absence, but its presence was a big minus. However, even given those flaws, this was a compelling, interesting, and entertaining game. The puzzles were, for the most part, logical ... the storyline was excellent ... the characterizations wonderful. I enjoy games where characters interact (rather than exploring alone, a la Myst). And I loved the ending!! I truly didn't want it to stop!! Perfect? No. But very very good!

Summary: Excellent adventure epic
Review: Somewhat repeating what others have written, this game has beautiful graphics, an engaging si-fi/fantasy story, wonderful voice acting and a fairly good balance of dialog to puzzles. TLJ is a very involving interactive story, so if you know that before-hand and enjoy this style of game it comes highly recommended. One caveat that dropped my rating to 4 stars is the wanton vulgarity of one or two characters that was (IMHO) entirely unnecessary and excessive.

Summary: The Greatest Game of All Time
Review: The Longest Journey, I can easily say, is the best adventure game I have ever played. It pains my heart to know that never again will a game as witty, hysterical, intruiging and engaging as The Longest Journey will ever come my way again. It features some of the most gorgeous art I've ever seen, the beautiful landscapes really throw you into the game world. Even though it's 3D graphics are in 3rd person, you feel as if you're seeing everything through Aprils eyes, her constant thoughts really influence you. This game has the deepest and most involving plot I've ever been fotunate enough to see, some things will make you fall out of your chair laughing, and this game is the first at which scenes have actually brought you to tears. The voice acting is among the best, everyone has been cast to perfection, and the out-takes of the game are HILARIOUS. Speaking of hilarious, this game is the most witty, daring and funny of all the games I have ever played, beating the likes of Terry Pratchetts DiscWorld, Simon the Sorceror, the LucasArts games and even Leisure Suit Larry. I can't convey enough the love I have for this game, I've played it over and over and over, but I hope to god that one day there is a sequel and you'll enjoy this game as much as I have.

Summary: Adventure Games Be Saved!
Review: I thought that the adventure game genre had died... then Escape from Monkey Island was released... and it was good, but I was used to the dark adventure like Noctropolis... and when I found out about The Longest Journey when I was visiting the States, it totally blew my mind! I went and bought it right away, and haven't regretted the decision for a second. April is a fun character, although her character model in the FMVs leaves something to be desired - she looks like she got beaten in the face one too many times - but the game is otherwise great. I want more Longest Journey's and less Quake's!

Review: I LOVE adventure games. Got hooked on the genre with MYST. I can only be proud that I bought this one as a used game thru Amazon. Trust me, the puzzles are simple-minded and there is way too much dialog. The plusses are that the game is very stable and does not crash. The plot line is interesting. I did use hints a few times at the end because I just wanted to finish and find out how it came out. I took about two weeks to play the game in and amongst working virtual office and waiting for phone calls at home. But I didn't EVER feel the need to get back to it to find out what happened next. Am going to try Syberia next and hope for the best.

Review: This game starts in a place long long ago in a time there was two worlds instead of one. April the artsic pupil who weaves in and out of her creative mind smack damb into reality. April is the main character in the game. She is an 18 who just left her family to get away from her abusvie father. She resides in Venice Califorina and is living in a border house. She is a painter trying to keep up with her art studies. The game takes you to two worlds, one of magic and one more like our world plain and unmagical. The magical world is Acradia and the other is Starik. April first finds out that she is to travel to the other world through her dreams and she was told by a crystal dragon that she is her daughter and will always be her daughter and that she is to restore chaos to order. The game is very moving, it lets you into the charters thoughts, feelings, and her mind. Everyone will like this game and will spend many hours after game play think about the game.

Summary: The best adventure game ever
Review: I have played all the famous,infamous and ehm,well,some weird cheap productions of adventure games,all beacause I like the genre so much.
And The Longest Journey outclasses them all.The plot,the characters and then the graphics and the enchating music just add up to an amazing gaming experience.
I am waiting for a sequel,and untill I see TLJ 2,I will come back to the game and enjoy...over and over again.

Summary: Good, but TOO MUCH useless dialogue
Review: I really liked this game at first. A lot. Then I realized that EVERY character has WAY too much to say. It becomes a distraction. I ended up sitting back listening more than playing the game. Much of that dialogue was not really needed. Or perhaps changing the camera angle instead of a static shot on two (most of the time) distant characters talking at each other. April (the main character) *ALWAYS* had comments to say and then comments on top of comments... it really got annoying. The graphics, interface and stability of the game were excellent. If the dialogue was reduced to realistic levels (I know FEW people that have to tell me a FULL COMPLETE story every time I talk to them). The latter part of the game seemed rushed. Many plot points that were brought up at the start were never finished (white dragon.. what's the point!!!) My dad tried it too (thought maybe it was just me) *and* my roomate... BOTH thought the same exact thing. I'd get it, but only if you don't mind a game with tons of dialogue that isn't really adding value to the game.
