Summary: What boring conversations?
Review: Do you enjoy watching movies? Well think of this as a really good movie, except you are making the choices. I am a HUGE adventure gaming fan. Played King's quest and Police Quest when I was a kid. Space Quest and Quest for Glory were great. What makes an adventure game special, is it's story line. This has a great plot. The most important thing is, that it keeps you involved all the time. There aren't too many dull moments. Someone earlier commented, on how there are 30 minute conversations. That's nonsense. First of all, that's not true. Anyway conversations in movies are longer! That's not the point, if they are long or not, the point is, you don't get bored. They are all interesting, though admitedly, part of the heroin's like is like Felicity! Anyway this game is a must have for everyone, YOU MUST PLAY IT! Enjoy this book/movie/game/adventure... all into one. Sierra has lost faith in the genre, it started. Young companies like this, show Sierra why it must return to the Quest. The adventure gaming may be back. This game may go down in history as the catalyst.

Summary: A good game, but a note of caution...
Review: First of all, let me say that this is a fantastic game. The sound is great, the settings and characters are (mostly) appealing to the eye, exciting and fresh, the puzzles are challenging without being frustrating (a fine line, as any seasoned adventure gamer will know)...simply put, it is one of the best adventure games to come out in a long time, my favorite since Grim Fandango, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good time. It is certainly a breath of fresh air for the weakening adventure genre. However, anyone buying this game should be forewarned of a couple things... -The gamer with a short attention span should steer well clear of this one. The game is steeped in numerous LONG conversations, which are not so much conversations as just sitting unmoving, unblinking at your computer for up to 20 or 30 minutes (no joke, I have timed several). While these monologues progress, you must stay at your screen to prod your character to respond to some question the other person has asked you, just to keep their monologue moving, and you really have to pay attention to what they are saying to grasp the game. During these lectures (and I found that they made up roughly half the game), there is hardly ever anything entertaining to look at on the screen and, well...it can get pretty dull. Fortunately, if you fall asleep or if your mind just wanders off in the middle of a deep conversation, you do have access to a conversation log, which keeps a record of all your conversations and can be accessed at any times, as well as a diary mode which gives a summary of the most important conversations. While these two features are most welcome to those of us who do not do very well in lectures, it is too bad that you cannot skip these conversations if you like and skim them over later (while you can skip the conversation, if you choose to do so it will not be added to your log). -The other warning I would give is mostly to parents. Keep in mind that this game is rated mature...and should be treated as such. It is not appropriate for children. Although the game is relatively free of violence (a breath of fresh air), it contains a great deal of adult subject matter. While I was not offended, if you do not want your kid subjected to sexual subject matter or profanity, you should not get this game. All in all, this is a fantastic game. The puzzles are great, the story is rich, deep and involving, and you get quite an adventure bang for your buck.

Summary: Funny and magical
Review: The first thing I noticed about this game was the great graphics. The next thing that I fell in love with were the believable characters including the main Character April Ryan.The game takes place in the future and whats really cool about that is that its a realistic future world that still is familiar to todays society. This game is very fun and keeps you thinking. You will fall in love with it!

Review: I have played all of the major Sierra games .. King's Quest, Space Quest .. and Myst and others etc.. The Longest Journey is fantastic .. great plot, character development. Lots of interesting places to visit, characters to meet. The puzzles fit very well into the game.. I highly recommend this game

Summary: A must for adventure gamers
Review: This tops my list of favorite adventure games (think Myst, et al.)! The story is wonderful and immerses you into the world completely. While some find it frustrating that they "need" some items later on that they missed picking up, every seasoned adventure gamer knows that it is imperative to investigate and save everything they find. Gameplay is long and you definitely get your money's worth with this one. Two thumbs-up!

Summary: A great holiday game.
Review: You know, with all these action movies coming out for Christmas, all lacking any story or point at all, going going to need something to suck you in a lot more. If you want story this game has TONS. Each of the 4 CDs has about ten hours of gameplay. The fantastic graphics are realistic in a magical and much more colorful then most other games recently. Fantastic music and every voice actor gives a great performance. Of course if you a person who hates a long journey... I just mean that there are really long conversations in the game. Adventurists will love this kind of game that you can settle down and play for hours. The story is like an onion, you just keep peeling and peeling and unwrapping a story that has so many turns and twists (but not in that particular order). This is a great game for gamers, but a CLASSIC for adventure purists.

Summary: It's a good game, but...
Review: I purchased The Longest Journey a week and a half ago and I was really impressed by many aspects of the game. The animated sequences are rich, the voice acting is superb, and the story is well done. There are several things that annoyed me greatly about this game and others in the adventure genre. The puzzles that the character, April Ryan, encounters are either too easy or too frustrating based on design elements. Quite often a key element needed to solve something and move on further in the story is so hidden and requires going back and talking to the same person for the eighth time. This can make the game bore quickly at those points. Dialogue though well performed is at times so full of chit-chat and unneccesary details I had to skip past it. And although the game is good to look at and interesting to follow along with for the story elements I can't really say it was fun. However the pluses far outweigh the negatives and I commend its originality.

Summary: Great adventure
Review: This game has gotten universal good reviews from the Adventure community, and it's easy to see why. The story is told in a very effective way; as the game progresses you really start to care for some of the characters in the game and you want to know what happens next. This is professional story telling at its best. The puzzles in the game are mostly great, but sometimes the sollutions are a little obscure. This doesn't really distract from the fun, and is only a minor spoiler. The sound and graphics works very well and the cut-scenes will leave you breathless. The only thing I don't really like about the game is part of the dialogues. While some of it is really interesting, other parts are dire boring. FunCom should have a look at LucasArts adventures to see how dialouge is supposed to be written. Also, while there are a lot of interesting characters in the game, there are a few that might as well could have been left out. All in all I would strongly recommend this adventure for anyone who likes great storytelling. It's without a doubt the second best game I've played this year after Escape From Monkey Island.
