Summary: Stunning Mystery
Review: It's now been about a year since Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned was released, which means I've had plenty of time to ruminate on it. Like the rest of the gaming world, I waited and waited for GK3, moaning in frustration every time the release date was pushed back. But when it was finally released, I was completely unready for the final product. Sins of the Fathers, the first Gabriel Knight game, was a triumph, an incredible story coupled with what was at the time state of the art graphics. Tim Curry's witty portrayal of Gabriel was weakened only by his absolutely dreadful attempt at a southern accent. The Beast Within was not as impressive to me, having lost Curry, and using then-popular live action animation technology that bloated the game to six unwieldy disks. Now comes GK3. Tim Curry returns to the gaming role he was meant to play. We have a new engine, developed specifically for this release, and an incredible new story, based on the International bestseller "The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail", but with Jane Jensen's inimitable imagination working overtime. Game play is a little strained here. I confess to having to resort to a cheat book once or twice because the puzzles seemed insurmountable or because I knew what to do, but couldn't make Gabe do it when I needed him to. The graphics are terrific, very worthy of the amazing story. I've read a great deal about Rennes-le-Chateau and have been thoroughly caught up in the mystery of it. It's obvious that Jane Jensen and her team were, too. They bring the secret of the tiny French town to life. You don't have to have played the other two games to enjoy this one, but you may find yourself tracking them down just to stay in the company of Gabe and his sidekick, Grace Nakimura. Happy gaming...

Summary: A unique sequel to a wonderful series
Review: The first Gabriel Knight game was about a voodoo cult in New Orleans, the second was about a werewolf murder in Germany, and the third is about vampires. In this episode Gabriel sets out to solve the abduction of a man's child and crack the mystery behind an age old Vampire cult. The pros of the game are the graphics and controls. It's really great to be able to pike the camera at whatever angle you want and examine things. Everything is rendered so the screen is more than just a backdrop that you can't peek behind. Almost everything is something you can examine closer. The puzzles are also logical. They make sence instead of being wild things like ripping the leaves off a plant and combing them with a rubber duckie or some other hair-brained idea. I also loved the animation. For polygon rendered people and buildings they were impressively handled. There were only two things about this game that I have any sort of beef with. Firstly the character of Gabriel seemed to have lost a bit of his tact and charm. In the first game Gabriel could charm the pants off of just about anyone he met and could smooth talk his way just about anywhere he pleased. Although the voice actor was the same man as the first GK game he seems to have forgoten Gabriel's smooth cajun accent for a horribly sounding southern drawl. And also the game didn't seem to like my ATI graphics card, so although I had the game for a couple of months I wasn't able to play it until I upgraded my card to something else. But that aside, I'd still reccomend it to any adventure game fan in a heartbeat!

Summary: A Great Game!
Review: This game was great, the kind you go back and play again and again! Challenging, with mystery and suspense. Once you start, you'll be up until you finish! The characters are excellent, the settings are smooth and seamless. (And *finally* Gabe gets something started with Gracie!) You'll be screaming for GK4 when you finish!

Summary: Great game
Review: I loved this game. I thought it was so funny. You clicked on anything and gabriel had something funny and obnoxious to say. One of my favorites is when you click on Lady howard and Estelle and he says "Now theres a couple of beautous dames, okay I'm feeling generous". I also liked it when he was teasing wilkes about his "worm thumper". I liked the whole game. The characters didn't have as much depth as Gabriel Knight 2, but this game was still above and beyond the call of enjoyment. Another thing I liked was how realistic it was. Everything Gabriel and Grace did made sense. I loved it that they change their clothes every day as well. It annoys me to see computer game characters wearing the same outfit every day. The inventory was also realistic. When you go digging, Gabriel and Grace have to go back to the bike and get the shovel. You put Mosely's yellow sweater in your inventory and gabriel sticks it in his pants and they bulge out. I thought Gabriel and Mosely were so funny together too. They were all good characters and the story line was excellent. The graphics weren't that great, but 3-d is still new and maybe they'll remake the game later. I think they should redo Gabriel Knight 1 as well, they could give the story a lot more depth with the new technology. I love these games, I think that they are among the best games that I have ever played. You could read the story by itself and still be entertained and amused. I thought Gabriel and Grace's relationship struck very close to home in a lot of ways as well. I also like the conflict between some of the characters, it made the story a lot more interesting. I have very few complaints about this game.

Summary: My opinion changed
Review: The first time block seemed sort of boring to me, but then the story began to pick up. The graphics were sort of choppy sometimes but they look a lot better on a full install with a three-d engine. Tim Curry's voice sounded wierd to me at first, especially with the southern accent, but then it began to sound like how Gabriel actually would sound. This game made me laugh too. It was funny to hear Gabriel and Mosely, two geometric little computer men talking like real guys. Gabriel's obnoxiousness started to seem funny to me too, with Grace to balance him out. I liked the tension of their romance, and I found the game to get very exciting from the time that the two scottish men arrived and Gabriel started following them. It was one of the best games I've played, I rank it right up there with the second Gabriel Knight. I hope they make a fourth one.

Summary: MUST BUY
Review: it's one of my favorites. i've played the second one aswell but not the first one. I enjoyed very much and had some trouble with it. Not so easy, but i was quite young at that time. Now i'm ready for something as gabriel knight! I've had it for quite some time now but i had some pc problems which in the end ended up to be cd-rom problems. i couldn't play it properly so i left it on the self in order to take care of it later. i replaced it with a new one but still the problems are there. it must relate to the sound or sth. anyway i play with it but sometimes it just stucks and restarts. So i have to save a lot! After i a strenuous work in restarting my pc 5 times within an hour i'm now on the third day. I'm very anxious to see how it ends! as a story is facinating! will gabriel and grace get together in the end? i'm so interested in finding out! but i'm also interested in solving the great anygma. Vampires, the holy grail, christ and other mysteries come on surface! hope it has a nice ending! i expect that from it and i will be dissapointed if it doesn't!

Summary: I couldn't sleep until I finished it!
Review: I've played all 3 of the GK games. The draw for all 3 games is that the writer takes actual historical events and interweaves them with the plot she's created in the game. I liked the addition of a computer database to the game; I spent several hours browsing through the available references (and probably not all of them!). You can really spend as much time with the references as you want; you don't have to read them all to finish the game, but I found them educational and fun. I also liked the character development of Gabriel and Gracie. I only hope there is a GK4 so we can find out how their relationship evolves. I have to say that GK2 was a bit scarier and had the "werewolf" theme throughout, but after reading all the reference material in the game, the "vampire" theme made sense. I can't wait for the next one---there are no other games like Gabriel Knight!

Summary: What happened?
Review: I bought the GK2 and was blown away.Felt as if I knew the characters and cheered for them.In this I didn't like them at all. Snappy, sarcastic, horrendous voice jobs. I waited on this one but won't on the next. Slow moving, no mystery since the characters are not as developed. Will never buy a game again untill the price is reduced. WHAT Happened?

Summary: A little weak compared to the others
Review: I enjoy the Gabriel Knight series and still play the other two games, even if they're a little outdated. The storyline is excellent, and you really get to know the characters. Unfortunately, that's not the case in the third installment of the series. Some of the characters are as "wooden" as Queen Amalia from the "Stars Wars: The Phantom Menace" movie. You hardly get to know them at all. Plus, the storyline is a bit weaker than the other GK series. I spent a lot of time scratching my head trying to make sense of what happened a minute ago. When I finished the game, I was STILL stratching my head, but this time because of the ending! In addition to that, the graphics are totally unlike that which you would see in a game like this. I also like the King's Quest series, but since they "polygonified" the eight one, my interest has been waning. "Sierra games," as I call any game where you walk around and have multiple icons that you click on different things to get responses (text or oral), SHOULD NOT have graphics like this. I would recommend this game to fans of the series (obviously), but for everyone else, wait for the price to drop before you make the purchase, and while you're waiting, play the first two GKs. I highly recommend those!
