Summary: How it all started
Review: Sid Meier has but has name on some of the best games ever. These two games are now exception. Gettesburg started it all. Antietam took it a step further. In these two games you can change history as you bravely direct your troops. You can make them form a battle line, charge of fall back. Trap enimeny units as you flank them. These are to great games from a great game maker.

Summary: Are you kidding??
Review: Sometimes I wonder if these reviewers have a personal interest.Ok I bought the civil war package. I'm a 50 year old guy who enjoys strategy games and thought it sounded fun. " Grant-ed" the historical parts are cool. But "Lee's" be frank, I had more fun watching paint dry. The optics reminded me of the early Command & Conquer series. Slow, boring, repetitive- almost got hemmeroids waiting for some action! If your a hard core Civil War buff you'll like it, if you like action try Command & Conquer Red Alert 2, and wait for Civil war to catch up to the 21st century!

Summary: I waste hours playing this game
Review: The folks at E.A. outdid themselves when they did these games. Unlike a previous reveiwer, I think the terrain is very realistic. It is quite obvious when you are on an elevation (though it doesn't tell you your elevation), grass, orchard, forest, etc. The commanders' personalities are fairly accurate as far as the soldiers respond to them. Also accurate, are moral and rounting conditions. You CAN designate a specific unit to attack, when to retreat etc.

There are 2 things I found frustrating:

1) When the A.I. retreats for you. They do this during a rout... that is, they are totally demoralized and are running for their lives. NO amount of general-ing you can muster will give you control of your cowardly fleeing troops at that point. Just let them go, visit them often with a general and maybe they will recover.

2) Aside from the "Auto-Retreat" feature there is practically no A.I. I would like to see a regiment or brigade press an attack on its own. There could be a "Press the Attack" command and they would attack until haulted by stiff resistence.

On harderst levels this game is very hard but no so hard that is's no fun. I've been playing Gettysburg for years and still lose regularly.

I especially liked the "what if" scenario with Gen. Thomas (Stonewall) Jackson. All and all, a good action simulation game. (...) get it and you will not be sorry.

Summary: Together With Waterloo,The Best PC Games On Earth.
Review: There are only 3 games I play nowadays,Sid Meiers Civil War games & "Waterloo:Napoleon's Final Battle." They are the best in terms of graphics, challenge, historical accuracy,& just sheer game-playing excitement. And being in real-time format,it's the closest to "bringing you there."

Summary: The best Civil War Game
Review: This game is awesome. The graphics are good. IT is a great strategy game. They have the exact same regiments who fought in the battles. In Gettysburg they have scenarios like,Little Round Top,Picketts Charge,The wheatfield and A LOT MORE! In Antietam you have a choice of firing canister from your artillerry. Both of them are a great value. They are so much better than the Talonsoft battleground series. GET THIS GAME!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A historically accurate overall fun game
Review: This game is the only game I have played where you can have fun with history. The overall game is strategy mixed with combat and you can chose either the rebels or the yankees and change history. This is a must have for Civil War buffs and strategy fans and in 2001 it isn't a outdated game.

Summary: Good Game for Stragity Gamers
Review: This game is very fun if you like stragity games. There are very good graphics and good sound. Also a good plot to go along with it. Sometimes the game gets choppy but not often if you have a fast machine. Overall a very good game!

Summary: Horrible Game - Stick with Age of Empires!
Review: This game stinks. It reaks. My dog looked at me while I was playing it, and he was like, "Hey, why are you wasting your time with that garbage? Play Age, and wait for a decent Civil War RTS." Then he laid a big dog log on the floor to show what he thought of the game. YUCK!!
