Summary: Difficult but fun!
Review: This game may be hard for "first time" players. However, once you get past all training missions and perhaps the first two missions everything else is easy. You also have to be very devoted to the game because if you lose once and give up it will be hard to start playing again. If you have experiance with the first Commandos this game will be fun with many interesting and creative enemies and tactics to complete the 10 missions and 9 maps. So don't give up and you're in for lots of fun!

Summary: Hard Yet Fun
Review: If you buy/rent this game and try the first mission you will think it is quite difficult. Commanods 2 is an action game but has a special quality to it. It requires gamers to use their brains. Yes that organ in your head that is mostly inactive with most action games. If you are having trouble (like I used to with this game) take this advice.
1. Think for any logical way to accomplish a task without being seen or heard.
2. Don't think of a logical way to accomplish a task and shoot every enemy around. (Not a good idea on certain missions)
3. Don't think your in Half Life or Rouge Spear and can do someting totaly moronic like running out and... well... getting yourself killed.
Remember this game is hard but can be really fun if you know what you're doing.

Summary: The best strategy game of this year!!
Review: If you know the previous versions of Commandos, you know that these games are fun and difficult. Also this game has these qualities, but now, also the graphics are beautiful.
The aim of the missions is about the same as in the previous commandos games: completing objectives and killing as much Germans as you can. This is fun!
All the missions are difficult, but you have more possibilities now: your men can exchange items and all your men can swim and drive cars to give a few of the many examples. This makes the game more realistic than its predecessors.
If you liked the previous games I would highly recommend this one. I can tell you it results in hours of fun!!

Summary: The Best Team Stratagey game of the Year!
Review: Commandos 2 is a great WW2 combat/stratagy game where you can control up to 5 out of 9 playable characters, a sniper, Green Beret, demolitions expert, spy, diver, driver, seductress, dog, and many others. If you like stupid games this isn't for you. I'm a devoted gamer and the Target: Burma mission took me 8 hours. This game is all strategy. The graphics are amazing. A definite MUST BUY,especially for the holidays.

Summary: Classic in the making
Review: I remember the time when I tried my first World War 2 game. It was captivating, challenging and it had atmosphere despite the crude graphics and sound back in the old days when PC's were using terms like CGA and EGA to describe game video support and the built-in speaker generated monotones to simulate the sound of footsteps.

That game was the original Castle Wolfenstein.

I've since been looking for that same adrenaline pump that game gave me. Even the recently released "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" (RTCW) wouldn't be able to do what Commandos 2: Men of Courage does.

RTCW will always been targetted towards the action genre. It may summon the support of past Castle Wolfenstein fanatics but it could potentially be more of a marketing ploy to yet introduce another FPS game out of the hundreds and thousands out there (counting mods). I do not speak from experience but I've seen more than my fair share of games based on this engine and that engine (the Quake engine being fairly popular).

From my experience, Commandos 2 is closer in gameplay to the original Castle Wolfenstein than anything I've ever looked at.

If you have been an avid game player for as long as I have, then you will know why Castle Wolfenstein was a classic. You can also rest assured that I wouldn't compare anything else to a classic (even though it doesn't even have the words of the original title attached to it) unless it was worthy.

Commandos 2 is worthy. Click on the buy button now. You won't regret it.

Congratulations to the Eidos and Pyro teams on an excellent job. I look forward to anything else they might bring out in the Commandos series.

Summary: Fun Fun Fun!!!
Review: What a great game....one of the best RTS I have ever played! The story is great, graphics are awesome, and the AI is challenging. It takes a while to learn everything available, but it is way worth the effort. Plan on spending some serious time with this game....ADDICTION FACTOR: HUUUUUUUGE!

Summary: A huge improvement over the first
Review: Okay, I must admit that I started to take this game back once I first popped it in. I found the new controls and systems too difficult to understand right out of the box. I was an avid Commandos player and I thought for sure I could manage the next version. However, it took me several attempts at the training missions and numerous trips to the instruction manual to figure things out. But, now that I have everything down pat, I love this game. The new features that allow you to go inside of buildings, post people on guard, the new characters, the ability to rotate the view (a must use feature), and the upgraded graphics make this a great game. EIDOS really did things right by putting out a sequel to a great game that took what we liked about the first one and made it better!

Summary: Welcome to World War II
Review: Did you like the old Lee Marvin flick The Dirty Dozen? How would you like to BE IN THE DIRTY DOZEN? Sweating it out hiding in a dark corner of a shipyard trying to figure out how to distract the Nazi guard long enough to get on board a ship -- maybe if you left a pack of cigarettes at the other end of the alley he'd leave his post long enough for you to get in. Maybe next you'll have to throw a knife into a Japanese soldier's back before he hits the alarm. Use a sniper rifle to pick off guards so you can reach your target. Blow up bridges, steal intelligence, commando-crawl across telephone wires and sneak up on unsuspecting soldiers dressed as the enemy to accomplish your goals.

We're talking about gut-wrenching, dear Lord I hope they don't catch us tension, your mind working like a rat in a maze trying to accomplish the goals set out in about a dozen mission scenarios, each completely open-ended. Kill or incapacitate. Be sneaky or make some noise. It's all up to you, but everyone's got to come back alive. You've got a number of characters, including a sniper, a dog (!), a thief with a pet rat, a femme fatale, and others. The equipment? Tripwires, bear-traps, sleeping pills, the usual assortment of arms, and more. The squad-based tactics in the Commandos series is only improved by this latest iteration, and are like nothing else anywhere in computer games.

I knock a star off for a bit of instability in the game -- some crashes, but if you're smart you save often anyway. If you like WWII and/or tactical strategy games ala Rainbow Six, this is truly your cup of tea.
