Rating: Summary: I LOVE THIS GAME Review: If you are like me, and you like games with great graphics, blood, and a sick and twisted take on a fairy tale, you will LOVE this game. I first played this game and just gasped at the graphics. I run it on 1024x768 and everything else cranked up. I love the enemies. They are such a wonderful addition to the graphics. The weapons are amazing. I love the secondary fire on the Kinfe. If you love stuff by Tim Burton, Go out NOW and buy this. And remember, American McGee's Alice Comes to theaters in 2003!!! And it is directed by Madman Wes Craven! Peace Out!
Rating: Summary: Diabolical! Review: As soon as I seen this game I was hooked. The storyline could not be any better, whats more cool then a really screwed up Alice? Nothing! Alice has to return to wonderland, as if it wasn't scary the first time, she goes back to it and it's not like the firs time round. Ladybugs bomb you, cards come at you with huge pokey swords and you can bounce off colorful mushrooms, swing off vines and get really cool weapons. This game is awesome; I haven't played it all, just the demo but it was enough to know that it was worth my time. It's just a really dark, and funny version on the Alice story! I always wanted to catch that bloody rabbit! As a really cool weapon that I just have to mention is a flamingo crocket mallet. And for a special power up you throw crocket balls at things and it's awesome! This is a game I'd suggest to anyone though the graphics are cool, it's still a little rough around the edges with kinda out of place blocks and stuff, but Alice's dress sways in the wind and that gives you an eeriness to it cause that girl scares me. And of course the wonderful and unforgettable, Chestire cat! If you thought the purple one was freaky (as I did) check this guy out. The voice done for him is perfect and I love listening to him talk. So I'd say, get the demo see if it works all right and then buy the game! I know I am!
Rating: Summary: We're All Mad Here. I'm Mad. You're Mad. Review: This was a great game. It was like a Tim Burton version of Alice in Wonderland. I love how dark it was. The graphics were great, and the story was interesting. I think it also helped to spawn a movie. Overall, this is a great game that I would recommend to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Alice is a challenging game Review: I've played lots of games, being disabled and in much pain I've found that PC games are like a good pain killer they take your mind away from the pain and into the game. Alice is one of those terrific pain killers. Right from the start you are totally immersed in the world of Alice. When I started my system was a little weak with a P-3, 800Mhz and a motherboard that was breaking down and an ancient graphics card (a TNT2). Then as I played we upgraded to a GeForce 2 Pro a new motherboard and a P-3, 1Ghz. I've rarely noticed the differences in gameplay when changing hardware but adding the new processor and AGP card gave this game a new dimention and I decided to start over. Again, I was quickly drawn into the highly advanced interface of the game, the graphics are exceptional, the story is deep and includes a booklet that comes with the game that are the notes of the psychiatrist that is treating Alice. Read the booklet, it's fascinating! Moving from area to area became seamless and tackling even the toughest (Boss level) creatures was not too difficult on the beginner setting. The story and sound effects kept me deeply involved in the game and I would sometimes reload a challenge just to see how it would come out if I tried it differently. The things that happen as you play Alice really draw you into the game, even having her stand still while you look something up can be entertaining, she will use the devices in her hand to amuse herself while you are busy. If you are feeling puzzled hitting the C will bring out the Cheshire Cat who may give you a good hint or perhaps just something Cryptic or confusing. I even learned a few new words that I had to look up in the dictionary because of what the C Cat said. It says there is gore but using the settings can reduce that to a playful minimum and I would not think it too troubling for the average modern 12 year old. At the same time, at the age of 46, there was not one part of the game that I was not both entertained and challenged. I have played flying and space games such as Descent 1, 2 & 3, FreeSpace 1 & 2, RPG's such as Might and Magic 6 though 9, Heroes of Might and Magic 1 through 4 and have dabbled in the first person shooter such as Castle Wolfenstein, Doom, Hexen and Quake and while they can be challenging they can not compare to Alice in the envolment, storyline, vivid graphics, music and effects sounds, even the ability to use objects such as hanging vines and turning pieces of clockwork to your advantage. Alice has taken on a huge bit of the gaming Sphere and successfully covered it. The now incredibly low price will be greatly returned in the enjoyment you'll find in this game.
Rating: Summary: Alice in wonderfulland Review: This is a great game. Its plots will take you back to when you first read the book or saw the movie. It's evolution is great. You move through the game and learn more and more about the twisted little tale that is Wonderland. The only problem i saw was that it has next to no replayability. Everything is the same. There is no character customization, but with how good it is the first time, it is worth the money, easily. Just dont plan to play it for years to come like games like Diablo 2, or Starcraft can be.
Rating: Summary: beautiful gothic immersion Review: It is very rare that I find a game that keeps me interested all the way through, and this game did exactly that. The genius creativity of American McGee is very apparent in thousands of little ways that you'll notice throughout the game. This game doesn't settle for the standard weapons or standard ANYTHING of most other games in the action adventure genre. I also bought the nothing-short-of-brilliant soundtrack, done by Chris Vrenna (a member of my favorite band: nine inch nails). I appreciate twisted art and also tend to enjoy things that play with my sanity ;). Alice was purrrrrrfect for that.
Rating: Summary: One in a million Review: Alice brings us to a whole new level in gaming. It is not like most other games, it contains an amazingly clever storyboard, non-stop action, packed with intensity, creepy warped charters loaded with personality, and the graphics are like nothing that has ever done before. The whole game is a peice of art, and anyone who would think differently is just probebly scared of it or is to dull not to see the complete genius in it.It is hard and is for sure to keep you thinking about it and the intensity of it may be a little much for some people, still if there were one game that would give you more than just a game, this would be it.
Rating: Summary: A disappointment Review: I was not impressed with this game. I found that when you hit the key board to move, it was too quick. I would press it once or twice and it would just spin around. Overall, I did not like this game and suggest that you look for something else.
Rating: Summary: Incredible game!!! Review: I admit I wasn't sure what I was getting when I bought Alice, but it turns out it is one of the best games I have ever played. The graphics are nothing short of spectacular as well as the storyline. This is one solid game. Challenging puzzles throughout make it all the better. I was shocked at the so-called top 500 reviewer's comments. They were way way off base with what this game really is, truly incredible, I am only about a third of the way through, if that much and I am so engrossed with this game. It's a must buy for 3rd/1st person game lovers. One of the most breathtaking original games in a long time.
Rating: Summary: Good game with some detractions. Review: "Alice" is a very intriguing game, with an equally interesting story-line spun-off from Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass". Basically, Alice's parents are killed one night in a house fire, several years after the events recorded in the Lewis Carroll novels have transpired. Alice is the only survivor from this house fire. She goes crazy with guilt as the lone survivor, ends up in an institution, and ultimately back in a Wonderland that is very different from the one she once knew. She must fight her way through all kinds of enemies to a climatic battle with the Red Queen to free herself from the guilt. There are many positives to "Alice". For one, the graphics are pure eye candy, especially if you have a descent video card and processor. The voice acting is superb, as well as the flow of the story. The weapon variation is amazing - some really unique ones are to be found here. As I've already said, the story is superb, with an excellent ending. Now for some detractions. While the violence is not too severe, it is still present. Unfortunately, some parts are down right gross. This brings up some concerns since I believe, personally, that the game could have been just as good without the added gore/violence. Other problems would include the massive system requirements. A Pentium II 400 mhz is *required* (translated: you need at least a P III 600 for it to run adequately.) I would not recommend running this on anything less than that. My computer is a P III 750 mhz with 128 mgs of ram and there were many occasions when the game play became quite slow, so much so that it was difficult to maneuver. All in all, worth a look if you're a Lewis Carroll fan.
