Summary: Empire Earth
Review: I totally disagree with the comment given by a previous customer here. I had bought the game and was having some trouble trying to run it. But I called the Sierra Technical Support guys to get help they were nothing but great to me on the phone. The game rocks!! I was never into this kind of RTS games but my friend showed it to me when I went to his house. I went straight to the store so that we could play online against each other. I was a bit sad that I had some trouble trying to get it going but like I mentioned when I called the Sierra guys they were so helpful and making sure that I had the correct settings to play the game. I actually did ask if it was a problematic game but they mentioned as long as you have the correct requirements and the settings people have had no problem. If you like these kind a games you should get it cause like I said it rocks!! It has everything.

Summary: A Far Better Game than Civilization 3
Review: Even though I prefer turn-based games to real-time ones, I thouroughly enjoy this game. I've had absolutely no technical problems with it, nor have I run across anything I could call a bug. This is a well-designed, well-programmed, very good game. After several weeks, the only thing I've found that I'd like improved is the ability to have groups of units explore together. As it is, you can manually move a grouped set of units to another location (though they ignore any speed differences), but you can't click the Explore button on that group and have them go en-mass around the screen. Instead, they individually go off on their own. A minor quibble.

Summary: This is a difficult, rewarding action/strategy history sim
Review: I must admit the opening sequence won me over, to wit: "Few men have the ability to decide the lives of others" or something similar was what held my initial joy. Watching the video scenes that ranged from a shaman in a stone age culture to a world war captain fighting with lasers and pulse machine guns intrigued me.

This game is simply astounding!

The gameplay is amazing... it is the kind of game you have to get a full glass of icewater and maybe a snack and sit down and crack your knuckles then begin a TOTAL conquer of an enemy. As a superior (online anyway) veteran of AOE and AOK I must admit I was challenged beyond belief but not too much to make it not fun.

I need not go into minor details of gameplay...this is an RTS game BUT it has some important differences. Everything I hated about Age of Empires has been fixed:

1) The resources dont run out after like 800 gold...you get 30,000 for each mine. This means you spend more time on war strategy (which becomes important in 14 ages) once you secure (and usually fight for) resources later.

2) Normally in AOE you can choose a strategy you like (i.e. rushing to imperial and creating 50 paladins) and win. In this game there are so many counters to certain units you must learn and use them. It is more realistic this way.

3) Watching the little World War I units run around and make waste of your enemy. It is so awesome to have an "Age of Empires" style game that has machine gun units, snipers, bombers, fighters, tanks, Anti-aircraft (stationary and mobile), and many others.

4) Let 's not forget the enormous fun of prehistoric age...Normally we all enjoy "starting fresh" in AOE with the stone age. Well! In this game the stone age is an achievement. We start in PREHISTORIC age!!! You can fight with guys that chunk rocks and guys with clubs and branches (literally this is it until you get 1,122 food for stone age and it is AWESOME fun)

5) Let's not forget the little details most of which I cannot possibly remember. It's the little gameplay details that are so improved that I love. The zooming, the "explore" function (even citizens or "scout canine patrols" can explore the unexplored and fight what they find. To illustrate, remember those online AOE games where you have destroyed him but he wont quit? Send 12 or 13 soldiers on "explore" mode to seek him out. Just wait until you purchase it, the explore mode is a stunning achievement for RTS.

6) Remember, You can start out at any age, or choose any sets of ages for game (i.e. only Renaissance to WWII or any combo).

I can't say enough good things about this game. I probably love it because of my history background but I don't know if I could not love it under any circumstances.

BUY IT NOW...cmon...its enormous..you normally buy crappy games with little to 'em, get something engaging now!

Buy it and play for 2 or 3 weeks like I have and then you will be right here like me, writing my first amazon review. The only reason I come out of internet anonymity to write this review is because I love this game that much. Think seriously about getting it...I mean it.

Summary: GREATEST RTS GAME AVAILABLE
Review: Age of Empires was great...but this is ten times better. First of all...for history buffs, this game has all of the accuacies as they did in antiquity. You can efficiently recreate battles in the scenario builder. Overall...a great game.

Review: The next installment may possibly become what Destiny could have been. Maybe with a little help from Firaxis.

Summary: Installation Woes Continue
Review: After having seen the advertisements, read the articles, and played the demo it seemed that my purchase of this game was going to be flawless. Once I had it home, I installed the game and low and behold I find I can't play half of the game due to graphics issues. Having placed several calls into Sierra Technical Support, their technicians told me "We hate receiving calls about Empire Earth since the game was released too early and the platform issues have yet to be ironed out." So... I've been able to play some parts of the game, but due to technical issues it seems that I have to wait for more testing before I can actually play the campaigns. I'm not the only one with these problems either, based on the message boards.

I give the game 3 stars since from what I've seen the graphics, sounds, and interaction look very nicely done. I just hope they get those patches out sooner than later so I can enjoy the rest of the game.

Summary: Not for the faint at heart!
Review: I have really enjoyed this game a lot. I was skeptical after I played the demo but the demo does not do the game justice. The game is similar to AOE II:AOK but the graphics and gameplay are better. One unique thing is that each mine (stone, iron, and gold) has ~300,000 of each in it so you do not have to find new mines or constantly replace them like in AOK. The ability to expand through 14 different epochs is great and gives a lot of choices to the player. For example, I have played all 14, limited it to just a few and even played just one. The choices are endless. Another unique idea is that you select your civilization AFTER the game starts so you do not know who you are playing. This adds a level of excitement to the game not found in previous RTS games. Overall it is a wonderful game.
The one problem, that I sure will be fixed in a patch at some point, is that your units will stop if the unit they are directed to attack is killed. This is very annoying b/c all the sudden you have units stopping in the middle of nowhere! This does annoy you but if you group your units it can be easily by-passed.
To conclude this game is great for many hours of fun play. Be warned, the games are long 4-5 hours and take a lot of strategy. This is not for the "faint at heart" RTS gamer. Overall, it combines the best of AOE II: AOK and Cossacks to make one incredible game.

Summary: Own this Game
Review: If there is a game to own this holiday season, this is the one to have. There has seem to have been a lack of good quality games recently, but this has thrown itself into the lead. The game is similar to AOE except it goes way past the one era game. This is a combo of Civilization into a RTS. If you like RTS games, then you'll love this one.
