Summary: Has the promise of being a gfreat game !
Review: I bought this game having only read about it once or twice on websites and having found it released at my local gaming store I bought it. I installed it (3 discs) and spent 30 minutes or so patching it. Once I got into the game I chose my server (Werner) and then had to make a future changing desicion, Which race should I choose. The mighty Terran Republic, The Futuristic Vanu Sovreignity or the freedom fighters, the New Congolmerate. I chose the Terran Republic and arrived in our race's sanctuary, or our safehaven if you will. With the choice of instan action I could have propelled myself straight into a warzone but it would be too risky. The basic premise for Planetside takes ideas from MMORPG's (Massively Multiplayer Online Roleplaying Games), When you begin you are a lowly Battle Rank 1 and have 4 certification points to spend on access to weapons, vehicles, armour, or support gear (such as used by medics, engineers or hackers). As you rise in Battle Rank's you earn more certification points, so the higher your battle rank the more you can specialise in. The main objective is to capture bases on each of the ten continents of Auraxis, each base capture will reward you with experience, which you build up to up your battle rank. The battle never really ends, with the developers adding new content every few weeks and patching it so it can become a superb game. It requires patience and teamwork to become a successful Planetside player, but if you posess these skills you will find yourself worthy of this game. The reason I only gave this amazing game a 4 star rating is that the graphics engine it uses, is not as powerful as, say Star Wars Galaixes and that requires a less heavy graphics card, the second reason is that with every patch that the developers install serverside and clientside the mroe problems they generate for the players. These problems often involve sound problems, crashes to desktop, exploits in the game etc. However as a MMOFPS, possibly the first of its kind it is an amazing game. To walk around as an invisible character and shoot the opponent in the back from point blank range whilst a battle ensues around you, is indeed breathtaking.

Summary: Okay but takes time
Review: If you have time this is the game for you. You have to get new battle levels which take forever to get and the FPS isnt that great either. ALSO YOU HAVE TO PAY MONEY A MONTH AND THAT STINKS

Summary: Buy Tribes2 and have more fun
Review: SOE released Planetside a couple months before it was ready for prime time. The game has a lot of unrealized potential and will probably continue to be just that.

There are a number of bugs in the game that make play frustrating. Doors will stick, vehicles that can't be mounted, holes in the map that will drop you character out of play, etc.

The character levelling and gained items are initially incentive, but how spectacular is it to receive cr3 and be able to scribble on the map? Or how about peaking at cr5 or br20 and everything you do gains you nothing?

If you happen to make enemies in the game and have them reporting you to the customer service representatives, you will be harassed and threatened, but not given any detail or information regarding your supposed transgressions. So try not to make anyone mad. If you run an outfit, you will be held responsible for the actions of every person in that group with the same lack of information.

If you enjoyed playing diablo over and over again this game might be interesting. Otherwise spend your entertainment dollar on something else.

Summary: Great Game Needs Some Work
Review: Overall this game is really fun. Sony Online needs to work out some of the lag issues that the game has, they also need to create a character transfer service so players can move their main character to a less crowded server. But like I said the game is really fun.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: One month, a world of difference.
Review: I posted a less then stellar review in the first week of release. I've changed my view.

Bottom line is SOE has cleaned up it's act. Customer service is up (a little), but still remains their weak point. That said.

New content, bug hunting, and user feedback are all being taken very seriously. The lag issues were hit with a large hammer and many of the technical issues I had are now gone. Within one month they have taken a hurting product and made it what it should have been at release.

What does this mean to you. Well, now is a good time to get into the game. It has an excellent community, challenging play in a huge world. Where battles rage with hundreds of players on a side fighting and dying. In a given second of an intense battle, the number of players killed equals all the players on the entire server for other FPS multiplayer games. This game shines when you are moving overhead in a ground attack aircraft over an armored column of a dozen friendly tanks with three times that number of infantry running along with them to support your side in a huge battle you can see just over the horizon.
The scope of it jus takes your breath away. you will always remember the first time you save the day for everyone, and nightly you pull off a miracle that somehow you came out alive and your opponents didn't.

If you like First Person Shooters, Q3, URT, HL/CS, etc. This game is the next step in team play games.

Summary: PlanetSide: Probably the most spectacular game of its kind
Review: Planetside is one of those games that you cannot get enough of! I recently purchased it here, Amazon.com, and I cannot wait until it arrives. The anticipation is killing me. I read up on this game before I bought it and its really cool. Bolt Driver for sniping(my specialty)and heavy asssault weapons for the MAX units. What more could you ask for?! But there are always flaws, such as the complicated certification and implant system. I was so confused at this but as I read more and more it became clear to me. Go out and buy it, I think its worth all the money spent.

Summary: SO Much Fun.........Then boring as hell
Review: I have owned this game for 2 months now and I thought when I got it, it was the most fun ever. Then after doing the same thing over and over and over the game goes downhill.

Pros:
-Lots of different things to specialize in.
-If you mess up your character you can fix it
-Vehicles are fun to use
-Great PVP

Cons:
-Lots of downtime waiting for things to happen ie. Waiting for the capture of a base... takes 14 min for each base capture.
-You NEED 512 Ram and a decent processor
-Vehicle controls are hard to use
-Very Repetitive... Get Group..take base..take base...take base..take base..take base..take base or Get group..die..die..die..die..
-Not a lot of awesome battles
-Races are not evenly matched Vanu are extremely at a disadvantage

If you're looking for quick fun then buy this game, but as a long term game.. This isn't going to get far.

Summary: Great Game
Review: alright, short and sweet. here we go. this game is amazing, although i have a 56k modem, and had to pay for a good ammount of equipment for my puter, this game is worth 50 bucks. there is only one downside to the game, however. (when ya get it you'll know what i mea). at times, i feel, that after a base cap, that it is insognificant (spell?) due to the fact that after about an hour of gameplay, nothing has happened to that base or it was taken by somebody else. but what ever. great game for rpg and fps fans.

Summary: Goodness
Review: The main flaws with htis game are beleived to be lag , stability, and constant downtime. Thisi sn ot entilrey true. I used to have a lot of lag, then i pruchased loads of ram, and brought it from undrer the reccomended level to over. Now, on my pentium 4, radeon 9700, and High ram computer. I have no lag. That isn't saying much, but still.

The servers only went down alot in the beta. now they are almost always up.

The game itself is geat, it may take a while to find action, even using the instant action feature, but they said they are going to fix that. when you find action, things get awesome. bullets flying in every direction. you could either go as a driver/pilot/MAX (heavvy armour)/grunt/or, my favorite, stealhters. So there are many ways to play.

Good fun, but, as has been mentioned before, this game may not be for 12 years olds who expect to be able to blast everything out of their way single-handedly. This is for team-players only.

Summary: Damn Fine Game
Review: I read a lot of reviews bashing Planetside and I haev to say that swayed my opinion not to buy it. However, my roomate bought it and I saw him playing and it piqued my interest, so he gave me the free 7 day trial that comes with the game. I have been playing for the past 6 days and I am absolutly hooked now. I don't experience this lag everyone is speaking of even when me and my roomate are playing at teh same time off of a cable modem. Some things aren't the best, but they are improving the game rapidly through updates. Also, to know that there is battle of hundred on hundred and you don't have to worry about a full server or a server going down or any other nonsense equated with every other MP FPS, it's well worth the $$.
