Summary: Nova boooooo
Review: I have all of Nova games- Compared to Ubi Soft this game is a joke. While everyone else out there is moving forward with
game engines like the Unreal gaming engine, Nova does not spend
much money at all to make a more pleasurable gaming experience.
Black Hawk Down has unrealistic scale, accuracy is [bad], an if
you get more than five people in a multiplayer game forget about
automatic weapons, they will lagg the game into oblivion!

Summary: Black Hawk Down: A few minor difficulties
Review: I played the demo, it was great. Then I bought the game, at first it wasn't so great. I installed and the game crashed saying something about "sysdump.txt" when I tried to play. Finally the next day I got it working. I reinstalled it and restarted my computer. Note:Cheats only seem to work on the not updated version, but multiplayer does not, so it's a trade off. The game can be slow and jerky at times and at beginnings of missions, so wait a few moments before moving around a lot or else the game will run [badly] and you'll get machine-gunned because you can't aim right. The weapons are cool and represent real ones used today, so that's not bad. Sometimes I wish that you can drive AND shoot when you're in a humvee and helicopter like in RED FACTION or RENEGADE, but oh well, at least you can shoot.

Summary: Finally...
Review: Novalogic gets its act together with something that can at least approach Counter-Strike. The original DF games suffered from horrible graphics and the DFLW games while much improved still looked kind of lame even though they were quite fun in multiplayer.
The game overall is fine in single player and has the usual limitations such as extremely stupid enemies, but you buy this game for MULTIPLAYER. Fighting real humans over the internet is where its at. Weapon physics are better and no longer can you do things like pick off people from a kilometer away using an Squad Automatic Weapon. Maps are quite a bit better and it will be interesting to see what future maps users come up with.

As for the political aspects of it and the nay-sayers, well shutup you morons. The USA hasn't won every war its fought, and thats the reality. If we suppressed everything relating to battles lost there would be no vietnam games, no war of 1812 games, no somalia games, no civil war games (americans lost the civil war, don't tell me 618,000 battle deaths fighting amongst ourselves is some sort of a victory, just a failure of common sense among our leadership).
Politics aside, its a good game. BTW get a powerful computer system for this one, and a powerful video card. I have a very expensive workstation card and what do you know....the game plays great! Don't expect your old TNT2 card and a Duron 900 to be sufficient.

Review: Loved it. It is one of the best games I have ever played.

Summary: "Nobody has to be a hero...just sometimes, it happens"
Review: By now, many Americans know about that fateful operation in Mogadishu, Somalia, to capture the gang warlord Mohammad Farrah Aidid and the effects of bad timing and decisions. Alas, that's what history is all about, right? From Operation Market Garden in WWII, to the Fall of Saigon in Vietnam, Operation Restore Hope fits it's place right in history books as a "failure". But in the eyes of Mark Bowden (author of "Black Hawk Down"), Ridley Scott (director of "BHD") and many of the troops in Somalia, the operation WASN'T a failure, but actually a mild set-back. To think that many more troops would have died that day is not fathomable. You have to admit that 18 casualties is a lot less than 30 or so.

Anyways, I verying off course. The people of Novalogic games, best known for their first-person shooter game series, "Delta Force", decided to "honor" those brave soldiers by releasing the game "Delta Force: Black Hawk Down". While it escapes my mind how they got the rights to use that title, DF:BHD actually has no relation to the book, nor the movie, but rather the actual events that took place, even before Restore Hope took place. Your first mission starts off as a 50. cal. gunner in a Hummvee, protecting a UN Red-Cross convoy that broke down while trying to transport food to the Somalians, whom during this time, are starving from the drought. Violence ensuthes and you are forced to fire back (although, as I recall from the film, the soldiers were given orders to NOT fire upon Somali Militia, even if they were shooting civilians, but I guess it's okay in this case because they're shooting UN forces, right, RIGHT???) Several more missions include a takedown of a weapon shipment, destroying a bridge to prevent Somali convoys to enter, helping the Pakistani troops and convoy to safety, taking out Aidid's radio station on the beach (the level screams of Omaha Beach in "Medal of Honor: Allied Assault"), rescuing of UN offcials from an overrun Embassy in Mogadishu, and several night missions. It's interesting because all of the levels actually happened (well, on a certain extent, being that IT'S A VIDEO GAME!). Finally, you get to the fateful day of October 3rd, 1993, were you promptly place yourself onto a Little-Bird helicopter and the words "Irene!" screech out (that was the launch code) and you're off. Novalogic left no mistake hiding, cause everything looks awesome from the helicopter view. Once in the city, chaos errupts. Several casualties are taken, but finally, Super-Six One, the first Black Hawk helicopter, is shot down by an RPG. Thus, the REAL action of the game starts. Several levels almost mimic the movie itself, while you're in several different views. Immmediately after the copper is shot down (which the phrase "Black Hawk Down!" is shouted a little too much), you take the convoy of Humvees and roar through the streets of Mogadishu, with every little sneaky Somali with an AK-47, or and RPG rocket launcher is aiming at YOU. Cheerfully though, you depend a lot on your comrades to help you get to safety, and it's vice versa for them. You must operate as a team and, like the motto goes, "Leave no man behind".

DF:BHD is pure mind-and-eye candy for the everyday gamer who's sick of "Halo" or "Unreal Tournement". The only problem with the game is that you don't get to actually see the Hawk being shot down. It shows the chopper getting hit in the tail, and smokes starts to come out, but then it cuts to your stats of the level. And when the second Hawk is shot down, it's only mentioned in briefing. Other than that, the game is great. It also features a documentary-style cut scenes that explain the reason for the operation, along with actual footage of the battle in Somalia. Also, the intructional booklet that comes with the game includes a trubute to the 18 soldiers that lost their life that day and a salute to America's bravest. And once you've finished the game, there's a special bonus level which you go in Special Ops 3 years later and go on a mission is assassinate Mohammad Farrah Aidid during a skirmish in Mogadishu and make it look like it was an accident. Go out, buy this game and be a hero. 'Nuff said.

Summary: good single player game, horrible muliti-player game
Review: Black Hawk Down is in between fair and good, so i cant lable it with a single word. It sure has its problems but overall its a good SINGLE player game. The missions are alot more interseting and harder than the previous Delta Force games and the maps are also aot more fun to play on. But the one thing that brings this game to shame is its multi player games. Even if you have a cable modem or DSL you will still run into problems during the games. For example, your in the middle of a game and all of a sudden your back to the log in menu. Your pings start to go bad after a while. Novalogic needs to fix this problem if it wants to go any further with its multi-player video gaming because I'm sure not satisfied with Black Hawk Downs multi player game. SO A WARNING - DO NOT BUY THIS GAME IF YOU WANT TO PLAY IT ON THE INTERNET USING THE MULTI-PLAYER MODE IT IS NO GOOD!

Summary: This is a good, solid game
Review: Although I generally read the reviews on games I am going to buy, I usually never write a review. However, after reading some of these reviews, I can't keep quiet. First of all, I hate to burst some of your bubbles, but every computer gamer will tell you that some games have very specific requirements that need to be fulfilled. If your graphics card isn't one of them, then you should have read the box. Second, if your system is to old, buy a new one, it is not the games fault.
BHD is a solid game. Visually it is excellent. It is somewhat difficult, but no more then most FPS's (who wants a game you breeze through?). The effects definitley make you feel like you are in combat and certainly add to this games appeal.
As far as negatives, your teammates are somewhat useless, and the AI could use some work. I have also come across some minor graphical errors as well, but every game usually has a few as well. Overall, this is quality game, worthy of any person who likes FPS's and has a system that meets the requirments.

Summary: A lot of hype for the bottom line
Review: If you've read the book or seen the movie, then you'd probably expect DF-BHD to be just as exciting and mindblowing. Not so.
Here are what in my opinion are the downs of the game.
#1 - You HAVE to follow the waypoints. Otherwise the mission is aborted. This gives you no freedom to roam around, explore or ambush the enemy.
#2 - A few of the levels are designed poorly and are no fun to play (take the land mine level for example)
#3 - You have limited saves per each level. Saves range from 3-6 and if you run out of saves, you're out of luck.
#4 - The amount of levels is few and you finish the game before you even know it. I finished it in 2 days.
#4 - Last but not least, the game is totally scripted. Everything happens in the same place at the same time. For example, if an enemy blows up a convoy with an RPG, the mission is over. You can then go back to your save game and expect to have the same enemy in the same place shooting at your convoy at the same time it did before.
Bottom line, DF-BHD is a fair/good game, but for me it did not totally live up to my expectations.

Summary: Best Delta Force Game Yet
Review: I was initially hesitant to buy DF:BHD after playing DF:TFD, but I did anyway, and I'm happy to say it was one of the best gaming choices I have made in a long time.

Graphically, BHD stands well above the rest of the DF games. While not quite on the level with some of the modern FPS games, the graphics engine is still able to convey a very realiatic experience. The terrain and structures made me feel very much like I was actually in Somalia. Soundwise, nothing new, but thats not a bad thing; to tell you the truth, I don't think it needed anything more, it was excellent.

Gameplay was amazing. There are some very difficult parts, but nowhere was I ever so frustrated that I didn't want to reload the mission and try again. Firable weapons on Hummers and Blackhawks is a definite plus. Missions are very well thought out, with the different parts of individual missions flowing almost seamlessly into one another. Gameplay is much more methodical than most other games, making the pace a bit slower, but much more intense. You never know if around the next corner you will come face to face with a 50 cal machine gun or a harmless peasent. Make sure to check your fire.

Multiplayer is the big winner here though. With 7 (I think) different MP game types, anyone is sure to find what they like. MP has 4 different player classes, and over 15 usable weapons, not including emplaced weaponry. Never before have I had so much adrenaline rushing thought my body then after a 30 minute round defending a series of targets against another team. Good mix of close/urban and long range/country side combat. The maps are huge, even the urban combat ones. With both cramped alleyways and broad avenues, MP truly brings urban combat to life like I've never seen it before.

Buy this game, you will not be disappointed!

Summary: blackhawk disappointment
Review: This game has caused me nothing but problems. I was looking forward to this and then let down in a big way. This game will not work on all graphic cards. I called the Novalogic help line and they could not help me. I will never buy another Novalogic game again. Fellow gamers out there, stick with Ubi inc. games they are far the best and put Novalogic to shame.
