Review: BELIEVE ME FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH, THIS GAME HAS IT ALL, A FOOTBALL GAME CAN ASK, IT GIVES YOU ALOT OF SELECTIONS IN A GAMEPLAN, MOST OF ALL IT GIVES YOU SIDELINE IN DEPTH, THE ACTUAL CHARACTERS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES, YOU ALL NEED TO GET THIS GAME, ITS ALOT BETTER THAN MADDEN 2003!!

Review: Finally, the people at EA Sports can reward console players with the type of hype PC players have relished over and over. If this game is 2x better than 2003 for the PC, then it is 10x better for PS2 and Xbox.

Summary: Madden 2004
Review: First let me say I love the Madden series and I think the Franchise/owner mode is awesome as long as you don't play the games. If you get this game, make sure you only play online or against other humans, because playing the computer is so frustrating and a disgrace. I don't mind it being difficult to play the computer, I enjoy the challenge. I wouldn't mind if I was getting beat fair and square every game but the computer flat out cheats to win them. I can't even begin to explain all the ways the computer cheats. Case in point are fumbles. The computer uses them to make any game close. This really sucks because you have no control over them as opposed to interceptions which are far too common but at least you can mostly avoid them. No lead is safe, I lost a game when I was up by 11 with 1:40 left due to a bomb and a fumble. This takes all the fun out of the game. What's worse is you waste 45 minutes of your life playing this game only to have it lost in the last couple of minutes. I am a good experienced player but I have totally given up playing the computer because of this frustration. Take my advice and have fun being the GM because if you decide to play you're probably going to break lots of things.

Summary: Fun for Pros and Rookies
Review: First off, I should say that the last Madden I purchased was 2000. The series has come a long way since then. The graphics and animations have much improved--becoming much more lifelike. The sound has gotten better, too. John Madden will always be the master of the goofy comment, but it's part of his charm both in real life and in the game. He, Al Michaels' and Melissa Stark's voiceovers add to the immersion factor of the game. One complaint I do have is the menu music. After awhile it becomes really obnoxious. Of course, you can always turn it off.... A new touch to Madden 2004 is the Playmaker feature. You will need a dual analog gamepad to activate it. Unfortunately, the PC game doesn't fully support many gamepads at this point. It can't be just ANY dual analog gamepad. 10-button, dual analog Logitech, Gravis and Thrustmaster pads are supported, but neither the manual nor the box mention these are the only officially supported brands. Anything else and you're taking your chances on the PC. However, it's worth getting the right kind of gamepad to use the feature. It allows you to more-or-less call instant audibles. On offense, you can switch the direction of a play before the snap. You can use it on defense to change the zone the safety is assigned or cheat the secondary to the run or the long ball. You can always use the more involved audibles on offense or defense, too, which will work just fine if you don't have a compatible gamepad to use Playmaker. You can still call hot routes for your receivers, call for motion and on defense shift your line, linebackers and change coverages. And the franchise mode is really deep. Again, you have control for 30 seasons. You can manage everything from fantasy drafts and contract negotiations to advertising budgets and price setting. It's very easy to get caught up in running the team and forget about actually playing the game of football! The manual, as is unforunately typical, is not very helpful. To really get a good understanding of the various offensive strategies and especially the various defensive schemes and packages, you either have to play a great deal or succumb to picking up a strategy guide. As far as depth, Madden 2004 is definitely for football fans who have some time on their hands. But, rookies will enjoy it too if they turn off some of the more complicated features or ignore them all together. A fun game that is worth picking up, especially if you haven't updated in awhile.

Summary: Jonathan is Right, Andrew is Wrong
Review: I bought this title and took it deep into ownership mode like Jonathan did and I found he is right about all of his complaints and that Andrew is in fact correct about the rule, but Jonathan is correct in the game's incosistent execution of the rule. For Andrew to be right, the game has to get it right everytime and it is short of that goal. In fact, Jonathan may have been too kind in his review. Please read the reviews from "grchecki" and "A gamer" from Pittsburgh, PA, if you really want to know the ugly side about this game.
When it comes to stopping the clock, why do instant replays have to count against your forty second clock? I am aware that you can turn them off, but it is cool to see the replays and tempting to leave them on espically when your team makes a good play. I just don't think that should count against the forty second clock. It just isn't the same accessing the the instant replay feature yourself.
Speaking of Instant Replay, has anyone else noticed that when you attend an NFL game a questionable call is shown on the Jumbo-Tron over and over again no doubt aiding a coaches decision to reveiew the call on the field. Why is it that in Madden Football when you access instant replay you cannot review the play?
The one thing that really burns me about this game is the relocation of franchises. I moved the Indianapolis Colts to Los Angeles and found that Jonathan was right. This flaw makes the relocation of franchises pointless.
This game is less than a month old and already needs a major overhaul. Jonathan's review, "grchecki" review, and "A Gamer" from Pittsburgh, PA, will fill you in on the rest. Avoid Andrew Walsh's review. As far as I'm concerned he wrote two lines about something he was wrong about and then took an opportunity to promote this game while obvioulsy not playing it enough to know what the h!ll he's talking about. Put your money back in your wallet and wait for 2005.

Review: I don't know what these people are talking about, a cheat bug?... If you suck you suck. I play the game on All-Madden mode and win almost all the time. Yeah sometimes you see some stupid plays, but hey, even the Bucs can blow a 21 point lead on Monday night football, at Tampa. If you are going to be a...baby about losing a game then don't play the game or down grade it.... This is the best realistic football game on the market...

Review: i got a big problem, i don't know if i should get madden 2004 on my ps2 or pc. the upside for having it on the pc is the better graphics and the ability to play online but the downside is that i cant play with my ps2 controller and im afraid its hard to play the game on the keyboard... if anyone has experience with past madden games on pc while using a keyboard, please make a post with your recommendation. madden is an incredible game that will forever conquer the sega football series, thats what makes it so great

Review: I have never played a computer game other than solitaire, mindsweeper, etc. The ones that come with windows. But I wanted to see what all the fuss was about and was reading your reviews. You guys take this stuff WAY too seriously. Have any of you ever actually touched a girl? Just wondering.

Summary: WHAT A GREAT GAME!!!
Review: I have no idea what all these people are talking about. THis is by far the greatest footbal, for that matter sports game, ever created. The owner mode, giving you complete control over your franchise, is unlike anything i have ever seen. With so many different aspects this game is by far the greatest Madden ever. Its a must buy for any true sports gamer!!!
