Summary: Great game but "Monkey Island Arcives" is a better deal
Review: Wow, when i played this game 3 years ago I was amazed. The game's plot had a great follow up the 2nd one's(witch I thought was going to be very hard to do). But it also allowed new monkey island users kind of join in at the middle of the monkey island saga. You didn't need to play the first 2 games to understand the charictors or the plot (but it does help). Speaking of plot "Lucas Arts" shure hit this nail on the head. This game kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time, and it took me 6 days of intensive playing to actully finish the game. Plus as an added bouns Lucas arts added another level of playing that had new puzzles in it called "Mega Monkey" witch allowed experenced players to play the game again and not be board with the old ones(a real asset to the game). But the thing monkey island fans noticed most about the game was the excelent voice overs, Guybrush (the main charicter)had an great voice assigned to him just like fans had imagned his voice to be in the first two games(witch had no voices only text). The 2d animation stile allowed great semi abstract backgrounds to be drawn without taking up too much memory on the computer, It also allowed the game to be longer, have more charicters and a great point-and-click control interface. Really a must have for ANY gamer, but there is a better way to get it than this jewl case. If you do a search for monkey island on amazon.com you will find something called "The Monkey Island Arcives" witch includes games 1, 2 and 3(this game is # 3) for only $5 more than this game. It is a great pack for any future(or present)Monkey Island Fan.

Summary: Everything you'd ever want in a computer game
Review: Wow. As I look back, I can't believe that until recently, I hadn't played Monkey Island. How could I have survived?Well, survival is aside the point here. Curse of Monkey Island is the third game in the legendary Monkey Island series, thought by many (myself included) to be the best adventure games ever. I've got to hand it to LucasArts - they've done it again. The plot once more follows the adventures of pirate wannabe Guybrush Threepwood and his girlfriend, Elaine Marley (who just happens to be the governor of the entire Tri-Island area). LeChuck returns to claim Elaine for himself, but Guybrush amazingly manages to blow up his ship and give Elaine an engagement ring. However, this ring just happens to be cursed with a voodoo curse which turns the wearer into solid gold. Tough luck? Very. After Elaine is transfigured, pirates led by Captain LeChimp (yes, LeChimp) steal Elaine so that Guybrush must rescue her. Monkey Island 3 features, once more, that trademark Monkey Island humor. The interface is much cleaner and easier to use and the visuals are excellent. The one complaint that I have is the amount of dialogue included this time around; however, the hilarity of most of this humor more than makes up for it. Do you hate humor, brilliance, quality, and fun? If so, then don't bother buying this game. However, if you don't, be prepared for a wild ride.

Review: yeah, it's another monkey island game. yes it is hilarious. yes guybrush is back. no, he didn't grow a beard yet. no, he's not planning on it. seriously, this tongue-in-cheek adventure has some of the most refreshing humour around it. to all fans of original two games, or to whoever gotten on teh train late with MI4, it's a GREAT game to buy. Those who decided to open up their gaming career with DOOM and QUAKE might call it 'boring' or 'unimaginative' but this classic QUEST-style game (if anyone rememebrs good old SPACE QUEST series this is THE game for you!) really does appeal to us old farts (18, been playing space quest since i was 4!) who are used to hearty laughs and pretty obscure puzzles. But nevertheless, new people might be attracted to this, although the game is proably next to impossible if you never had any hands-on experience with quest-like puzzles, but as i said... you might get in!

Review: You can't beat Monkey Island, and The Curse of Monkey Island is the best game in the series (so far). Guybrush Threepwood, the loveable pirate-wannabe who fears porcelain, is the protagonist of this bizarre story about adventure, romance and monkeys. The game plays like your standard LucasArts adventure--you control Guybrush by clicking with the mouse where you want him to walk. You interact with people and objects via an intuitive menu that allows you to choose between touching, picking up, talking, looking at, smelling and a few other actions. The game is easy to play, and it is very, very fun. Maybe I am a little biased. I've always been a huge fan of adventure games, the reason being that they are fun. Most computer games nowadays, be they of the action, strategy or role-playing genres, are not really fun; they're just addictive. The software companies aren't concerned with making you happy, they just want to hook you on their products so they can sell you the sequels. LucasArts, at least the guys who make the Monkey Island games, are different. They make good games. What makes Curse of Monkey Island so good? Well, basically, it's funny. That's what keeps you playing--you want to see what crazy thing will happen next. It's like an interactive comedy. The story is hilarious, as are the characters' voices. One especially funny character is Murray, the talking skull whom Guybrush meets very early in the game. Throughout the game, I found myself constantly looking forward to the next encounter with Murray. The story is the big selling point, but basically everything about Monkey Island 3 (this game) is great. The graphics, although not much by today's everything-must-be-3D standards, are pleasant to look at and appropriately comical in and of themselves. The audio is terrific, especially the voice acting. Even the opening sequence is very well done. Overall, this game is worth your money, guaranteed.
