Summary: Good, very good, but could be better
Review: I've played all the Kyle Star Wars games and loved each one---and Jedi Knight Outcast is no exception. I love this game, from it's great graphics,to is wonderful sound, and the new options on the lightsaber are just great as well (Finally a Jedi is nearly unstoppable---just like they are suppose to be. It's little wonder that people not only respect them, but fear them in ways and this game shows why at times). But there are a few complaints. First---am I the only one that missed the FMV's (Full Motion Videos) of the last game that gave one that feel like this was a written movie? Now I understand that they are difficult, take up alot of room, and would have made the game cost quite a bit more (plus getting the actors is near impossible)still though I do miss them. Next, though I love multi-player options,I belive this game focused too much on multi-player,this is the problem with most FPS's,they either go nearly all multi-player or go nearly all single player and everyone is not satisfied (the multi-player people shout there needs to be more multi-player support,or the single players who don't have good connections to the net and want a story shout why is there so much multi-player support)there is a happy medium but so far no one has managed to find it. Also on the subject of multi-player there are several Force powers that may only be used multi-player that really should have been single player as well. Now one of my biggest gripes,Kyle learns and uses Dark Side powers through out the game without any consequence what so ever. Yes it is fun to unleash lightning from one's hand (and I loved the graphic display for Force Lightning this time just beautiful),and yes it is fun to pick someone up and throw them around like a rag doll (trust me I had fun with this two powers like you can't belive),but they are of the Dark Side. A jedi has to call upon them in anger and rage. In Star Wars there is a very real consequence for calling upon the Dark Side of the Force,it is subtle, and most jedi who start down it's path don't even realize they are being seduced by it. Though in the game Kyle makes use of these powers without any problems that I can see what so ever. I would have liked to have seen something in the game that would mark this, use the Dark Side at your peril should be the case, but I suppose in that if they did then many of the Force powers that Kyle picks up would never be used by anyone and people would shout about that---still though it would be keeping with the "feel" of Star Wars. Regardless of all this I love the game and would recommand it to anyone.

Summary: Return of the Jedi
Review: The Star Wars Universe must be the most computer game friendly arena possible. After watching STAR WARS, who didn't want to fly an x-wing, feel the buzz of a lightsaber and make unlikely alliances with aliens of non-humanoid forms. Now you can. My choice in computer gaming is the first person adventure of which LucasArts has given us a few. First came the cool storyline of DARK FORCES. That was followed up by JEDI KNIGHT: DARK FORCES 2. It boasted an improved game engine and another intricate storyline featuring Kyle Katarn. He returned in the MYSTERIES OF THE SITH extension. Now, he is back in the phenomenal JEDI KNIGHT II: JEDI OUTCAST.

Again using a new gaming engine, this new storyline brings Kyle Katarn to Bespin the Cloud City, the Jedi Academy on Yavin, as well as a tremendous cityscape and the underbelly of a huge spaceship. And wherever Kyle goes... you are there. At times, you even control droids and AT-ST walkers. All is visually stunning and you can control the level of detail from laser shot burns, shadows to rain fizzling on your lightsaber blade.

When THE PHANTOM MENACE hit theatres to mixed to negative reviews, the fast-paced acrobatic saber battles received unanimous praise. Now, that same speed and agility is available on your personal computer as it is masterfully transferred to this game.

The game itself gets more and more difficult as you advance and your force skills grow with it. But, you'll probably save often so not to go all the way back to the beginning. Although, it's pretty cool when Kyle is killed in a dramatic camera pan around. The good news is, no matter how difficult the gaming is, control is very simple, making ease in usability. A great computer game well worth the wait, the force is with OUTCAST.

Summary: Wow!!!
Review: I just finished beating Jedi Outcast a couple days ago and I'm ready to play it again at Jedi Master level! The graphics are great, the storyline kicks [buttox], and your arsenal of weapons and force powers are outstanding! LucasArts/Raven has done an excellent job with the force powers and lightsaber maneuvers, not to mention the flips in the air and the walk-on-the-wall trick. There is so much thought that was put into this game it's incredible. I'm usually the one who buys a game and makes copies for friends but not this time. I told all my friends to buy a copy since it was so awesome. Even if you are not a Star Wars fan, you will definitely enjoy the game and be in awe because of it. Those of you who think the graphics aren't the best doesn't make the game worse. The most important part of a game is the gameplay and the storyline. Max Payne has incredible graphics, but I was bored after a couple days of game play. Games like Deus Ex and the Jedi Knight series, well, I could play them forever.

Summary: Jedi Knight Was a Classic...
Review: When I was in grades 6th through 8th jedi knight and mysterious of sith was my life, especially multiplayer. My buddy that i used to play against burnt me a copy of this and told me to try out the new and improved. And I am. I am glad that he burnt it for me cause there was no way i was gonna pay for this thing. I remember jk and mots and i remember that it wasnt as impossible as this, hell it took me 3 hours to past the second level. I like shooter-er-upers but not when you have 50 stormtroopers on you to AT-St's and you have keep your allies alive or the missions over. Kinda impossible espcially since none of your weapons are able to knock the AT-ST out. Beside that JK was fun cause it had fun levels to it something new and exploering. These levels are similair to MOTS where they are boring and plain and every room has 100 stormtroopers for you to kill so you can go on and fight another 100 in the next room, then backtrack to go find a key that will open one door that you cant even find when you wanna get back. Plus you have to wait 5 levels for a lightsaber whats up with that? JK it only took 3 levels boom you got it on in instant. Graphics are a plus....if u have a computer card and [stuff] like that, well i dont, it runs well but like whenever 100 guards come at ya it slows a ... lot down, which is annoying ... Frankly I was pleased with the graphics in JK and MOTS and didnt think they needed improvement but what can ya do. Buy if ur a big fan but just go get JK or MOTS or even the original Dark Forces.

Summary: JK2, the best game ever made.
Review: This game is by far the best I've ever played. In addition to that, it also has no blood, a big bonus. The lightsaber moves are great, I'm still figuring out new ones! They include flips, rolls, wallwalking, even lightsaber THROWS! The graphics are the best yet, using the most advanced engine available (Quake 3). The force powers are simply amazing (Force choke, push, pull, lightning, absorb, force drain etc.) The AI technology is the best EVER. Single player is not the greatest just because you can't have a lightsaber and force powers right away, and the guns get tedious after a while, but the multiplayer more than makes up for it. Raven really outdid themselves this time. ...

Summary: This might be the best game ever
Review: Of all of the games that I have ever purchased (a lot), JKII might be the best ever. Raven has spent a lot of effort both pre and post release dealing with customer opinion and offering tons of help with customization and hints.
1. The bottom line: The light-saber duels are the best. Forget the other weapons (although they are cool too). My fiance actually went out and purchased another copy just so that we could team match against each other, and she doesn't even really like 1st person shooters! Watching on spectator mode with a dozen jedi dueling makes the wait for Episode II less stressful.
2. Game play is pretty smooth, but the cutscenes should have been actual films, like with Dark Forces II, Jedi Knight.
3. My computer had some problems initially, but I boosted my RAM past 300 megs and it's much better now. Even on better video settings it runs well.
4. Kyle should look more like the Kyle from Dark Forces. He looks a little too 70's.
5. A reation to those that complain about it not working on their computers, GET A NEW MACHINE! A PENTIUM I OR II JUST WON'T CUT IT ANY MORE!!!

Summary: excellent, but...
Review: this game has instantly become a personal favorite. the graphics are good and the game play is even better. initially the game is little more than a first person shooter, however this quickly changes once you re-obtain your force status. throughout the course of the game you learn new force abilities and your old ones increase. for individuals who enjoyed the first two games in this series this is a must buy. however, i have to admit that i found the story line a little ridiculous, but that it is bareable. my only real complaint is the constant need to jump from place to place. this game reminds me of a much improved 3D version of pitfall at times. however, these irritating sections of the game are easily ignored once you have suffered through them. finally, the highlight of the game comes in the higher levels when you can abuse storm troopers with your force powers. tossing a hoard of angry imperials across a room with a casual flick of the wrist is a blast. also, the light saber battles with dark jedi are great. i would highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys the star wars genre (i have to admit i am not a hugh fan) or enjoys a good game.

Summary: Load Time
Review: Nice Game. Good game to pass the time. More involved than the last one. One thing wrong: LOAD TIME! I have never in my life had a game that took this long to load. When I start this game, I can wash and wax my car, only to come back and wait for it to finish loading. It is not like I have an old system.
1.7 GH, 256mb RDRam, Nvidia G-Force 2 GTS, & 48x cdrom.
You have to have the patience of Job to wait on this one. Younger less patient people will throw something or pitch a fit.

Summary: words cannot describe...
Review: An absolutely brilliant game. Although short, it was the most fun I have had at my computer since Deus Ex, no, make that Max Payne. That notwithstanding, this game is an absolute blast, highly polished (something we have grown to expect out of LucasArts) and worked straight out of the box, no bugs or glitches except minor AI pathfinding issues in lightsaber duels (which can be easily overlooked). It is also extremely stable. If you have a decent rig (i.e. 1 GHz procecessor Geforce2/3), turn up the resolution and all the other fancy visuals and prepare to have your jaw drop (thanks to the QIII: Team Arena engine). Multiplay is terrific as well, the AI bots are good, but playing against humans is incomparable. Bottom line is, for even a semi-Star Wars fan, your gaming dollar is well spent.

Summary: Mmmm...A Jedi you wish to be, eh?
Review: Since 1977 when I was first immersed in the world of Star Wars, I have been patiently waiting for a video game that could recreate that world, and Jedi Knight 2 does a splendid job.
The sights and sounds of Star Wars are all there: from the fuzzy warm glow of the lightsaber to the exciting high-piched twang of an Imperial blaster, from the saber duels on the dizzying heights of cloud city to a good old melee in a cantina - I have seen no other game capture that "Star Wars" feel like this one. The trademark opening with receeding text and closing credits that are blue against a starry background are all there and John William's classic score plays beautifully throughout the game, blending flawlessly with the action.
Aside from this, the game is basically a linear first-person shooter, though, I think a solid one with a respectable story line. Gameplay consists of much blasting with a little backtracking and puzzle-solving here and there to break up the monotony. None of the puzzles particularly challenged me and I found most to fit in decently with the storyline, save one stupidly contrived platform room. Granted, since Half-life premiered, many FPS' have looked and played very much alike. Gamers that are hoping Jedi Knight 2 will break new ground in this area will be disappointed.
The AI is acceptable for my tastes, but isn't anything spectacular. Obvious attempts to improve AI, have made the game better in some ways and a bit sillier in others. Allies seem to stick with you and follow you better, but enemies sometimes do seemingly wacky things like the stormtrooper, who, in an attempt to flank me walked backwards past me coming whithin six inches of my face. Instead of pointing his blaster at my head and ridding the emerging empire of one more Jedi, he kept waltzing backwards til he was about 20 feet away then started shooting. I guess he wanted to get a better shot? For those of us who are used to online human enemies, AI still has a long way to go. Of couse, Jedi Knight 2 does have an impressive multiplayer option to keep us happy.
The force effects are loads of fun, though they are earned progressively (and a little to slowly for my tastes) throughout the game. Unless you cheat =). Ahh, few joys in life can compare to encountering 7 stormtroopers on one of the high towers deep inside an Imperial fortress, all blasting away at you - and then using the force to electrocute 2 of them instantly. You then bring out your force push and send 4 of them off the edge, screaming. And what about the remaining one? That officer in black calling you "rebel scum" as he prances around and lobs bolts of energy so impolitely at you? You use the force choke to pick him up while he grabs at his throat, gasping for air, and swing him out over the edge and..."What happened to Sulley? I let him go". Yes, however, having the force (magic) in one hand and a weapon in the other is nothing new (Undying), but it's still fun.
As far as performance goes, the game runs well in 1280x1024x32 with all details maxed for me on my p4 1.9ghz 256ram geforce2 ultra 64mb, though I do get a bit of texture "tearing" when I'm in big open areas and a lot is happening onscreen. I've heard reports of 700 celeron Vodoo 5 machines running the game well, though I doubt that they're setting all sliders at maximum. So far, it's been a very stable game for me.
No, I would not describe Jedi Knight 2 as "groundbreaking", except inasmuch as it puts you in a Star Wars movie like never before. As with all FPS', some hardcore gamers might be disappointed. But after trying it, my wife could not tear me away from it with all her strength. (And she's still mad.) =(
