Summary: Hold off
Review: This was pushed to release before it should have been. Testers were sending in reports on major bugs right up till the last hours before they took the servers down for launch. Give it about 2 months then take a look, it might be fixed by then. Aside from that the price is quite too high in many peoples oppinions. With luck as they fix the errors they will also see this and lower the price to a reasonable level.

Summary: Graphics and Game Play are awesome
Review: As a Beta tester from early Beta 2, I have had my issues with this game, but all in all, this game still rocks. I have never seen a MMORPG with such awesome graphics. In one instance, I arrived on Endor, and met 4 other first timers to the planet. We left in search of Ewoks, and when we found an Ewok village, we sat there and watched as the sun came up, the detail and artestry of the landscape. Its also true what they said, turning all the graphic detail to max, will make the fastest PC/Video card crawl. (P4-3GHz/9700pro@1024x768 = 10fps) However, with modest graphic settings, I can still maintain an avg 30fps and be in complete awe of the graphics. As for the game play and upkeep, they are reasonable, and similiar to other MMORPG's. This game is definitely playable for the average game player (5-7 hr/wk), and still have as much fun as a die hard 60hr/wk player.

Summary: Star Wars Galaxies
Review: This is a game different than all other MMORPGs. Instead of just getting out in the middle of the desert and shooting wamp rats, you can build a rifle for someone do just that. Instead of kicking at a Durni on Corellia, you can learn to dance or play an instrument... you can even start a band and play in an amphitheater. The great thing is, you can shoot things and kick 'em in the face, too.

The point I'm trying to make is this: If you don't like combat, don't like dancing, don't like exploring, and don't like being a medic, there is still something for you to do in Star Wars Galaxies...

Heck, you can even meet Darth Vader... Or Princess Leia.

Oh and by the way.. I know this because I beta tested the game for 3 months.... Im not just making it up.

Summary: Totally Immersion
Review: If you love Starwars you'll love this game. As a Beta tester I can say that this game (even during beta with all the initial bugs) is totally addictive and fun. The support has been outstanding and it's come a long way. Game play is well rounded from combat to crafting. Being a crafter or an entertainer is no less exciting than fighting in the galactic civil war. Unlike other MMOG's, focus is not on critter bashing which I found to be the boring aspect of other online games . I gave it a 4 out of 5 because it does take a high platform machine to run. Even with a P4 2ghz and a Geforce4600 I still run into some jitters.

Summary: Most Anticipated MMORPG Ever on the Verge of Release
Review: As a beta tester of SWG for more than 5 months, I can assure all of you who purchase this game, that it lives up to all the hype. It is the best MMORPG I have ever had the pleasure of playing. It is dynamic, beutifully rendered, exceptionally conceptualized and more and more. Not only will it outsell any other MMORPG ever created, but it will keep going strong for years. SWG has over 500,000 registered fan members. Yes, count them. They're all there. Ive been on the fan boards and just about every thread I read Ive enthusiastic people ready to become part of this epic journey. ---May the Force be with You---

Summary: Beautiful Game, Amazing Scope, Requires Commitment
Review: As a Beta tester in SWG and having played it for about three months, I can say that this is one of the most sweeping online role-playing games to date. Be a commando, an artisan, a musician... its all there. But to advance, you need to spend some serious time perfecting your chosen profession. This comes, for a commando-type character for example, killing things; for an artisan, crafting LOTS of things, surveying for raw materials to do so, etc. You can then advance to more elite professions, like Bounty Hunter, Smuggler, or Creature Handler, (or even Homemaker!) for example.

So there are no fixed "professions" a la Everquest... you can train in an endless combination of different skills to be exactly what you want to be. Since this takes time, it is best to focus on two or three (and eventually one or two) to get very good at a few skills rather than mediocre at lots of them.

Although casual gamers can pop in and out of the game, the richest experience will came to those that spend at least an average of 2 hours per day at the game. Casual gamers will probably get a bit frustrated early on, until they get the experience to really start having fun.

To say it's "Everquest in Space" is a cheap shot... this is truly state of the art and the standard to which these types of games will be compared in the future. Definite WOW factor here. Just stay committed long enough to get good at something and you won't get bored.

Enough Beta testers should be milling around in-game to provide pointers to those that are new to the genre. Give it a try.

Summary: View from Beta Test
Review: I spent about 2 weeks in SWG Beta test, principally learning how to play the scout class. My expertise is limited but my experience was very positive. I expect the game to gain a strong following. My previous MMORPG experience is with Everquest through the end-game environment(65 shaman 52 ranger etc).

There are still some rough edges in the game but I found three aspects very interesting and attractive.

First, there are beautiful spots in these worlds. The mountains of Naboo and the wildflower covered prairies of Cordelia come to mind most immediately. I found it pleasant to just sit (healing) and look at the scenery.

Second, the advancement system is non-linear. My sense is that over the long run this will make the game less of a grind of exp gathering. By mixing and matching skills players have the opportunity to customize their characters to most directly suit their needs and interests rather than opting for a one-size-fits-all class.

Third, the crafting system offers opportunities for activities other than MUD-like hack-and-slash. Useful items are player created from raw materials that can be culled from the environment by many means, from hunting to surveying and sampling. The player based economy will I think end up significantly richer than the drop-intensive system of EQ.

One of the slogans circulating about the game is that the goal is to "live in the Starwars universe." I find this remark telling. There will be many players who are drawn to a game-life of combat. SWG will provide ample opportunities for them. Abundant opportunities. But for others this game provides the opportunity to have virtual vacations, to camp in the mountains, do a little hunting, do a little fishing, admire the view.

Summary: Best Online Game Ever Made
Review: I was a beta tester for this game and now that the non-disclosure agrement is over, I can tell you that this is one of the best games to ever come to the market.

The graphics are way above anything I have seen in Everquest© or Asherons Call©. Advancement throught the Star Wars Universe is easily done. There are hundreds of options to chose from for a career ranging from Bounty Hunter, to Weapon Crafter, to Brawler, to Terra Kasi martial arts. To advance in one field you will need to have friends in another field of the game, or be a multiple field character. Throughout the game there will be raids on random cities by either rebel or imperial forces. Depending what side you chose, you can help with the raid or try and stop them. This gives you a feeling like your making a difference in the Star Wars Universe.

I give this game 5 stars for its graphic appeal, gameplay and immersion into the Star Wars Universe.

Summary: From a beta tester
Review: I've been a beta tester for SWG for about 1 month. I find the game very enjoyable. The development team was sooo great about fixing bugs and have worked incredibly hard to make the game as enjoyable as possible and so have the beta testers. You can choose from different professions and live out your Star Wars fantasy life. You can live off the land as a scout, make goods as an Artisan, or perfect your shooting skills as a Marksman. As a veteran Roleplayer, I've found vast enjoyment in roleplaying with the other members of the galaxy! Go out there and have fun, and don't forget to visit Jabba on Tattooine. He may have a job or two for you!
