Summary: Horrible, insignificant
Review: You thought this would be better than everquest, playing a wookie on different planets, tons of nerding for sure. Unfortunately it is nothing BUT everquest. Sure it is addicting but the design is fundamentally weak and the graphics are brilliant but only because it is funded well.

It's pretty much mmorpg back to the basics, don't get this game whatever you do

Summary: really pretty sad
Review: I was really hopeful about this game (because Ralph is the best) but less than a week after starting I find myself bored.

Too much time is spent running across huge empty cities, or across huge empty landscapes. The crafting is boring. The economy is broken. The combat is horrible.

There are way too many "annoyances that verge on insult"

Like the bank box window that opens really tiny behind the character's inventory window, every single time.

Like when the game crashes or gets bugged, and you have to restart, you are forced to wait through each of the splash screens with no way to bypass this self congratulatory delay by _all_ the companies involved.

There's a lot of good work and thought in this game, you can see it, but it's ruined by things like an awkward interface and bulky window frames that waste half your screen space.

Frankly, i would eagerly sacrifice the really annoying 3d rotation of every item in my inventory, in exchange for just a few more frames per second :( Yes, there's lag in the nearly empty cities. I guess it's all the fidgety NPCs.

Summary: This game rocks all other MMOPRG
Review: This game rocks. It sets a new standard for all other MMORPG games that will be released. The gameplay is great, the community of players is friendly and helpful (most of the time) and the new XP system that they are using is enginous. I would recomend this game to anyone that wants a great game to play, and it is a steal at [a low price] a month for server charges and the such. You get the best service you could find, great explinations, me updates and downloads, and get to experince the thrill of playing in the most known Science Fiction realm in existance, the Star Wars Galaxies.

Summary: Sony should give me my money back!
Review: I wonder what we are buying the executives at Sony and Lucas. You shell out [item price] and then they ask for [more every] month just to play the game. After "experiencing" the Star Wars world, I took my copy to a used game shop and got $4 back. The price isn't the only thing wrong with it either. The interface would take a PhD to learn. With all of the pop ups and clumsy radial menus that they throw at you it's a wonder that you can do anything at all. I'm going to go play Donkey Kong on my Atari, "Live long and prosper!"

Summary: Not even worth 1 star!
Review: This game was a good sight to see to the MMOG community! It had the power to expand the popularity of the MMORPG's and give a name to the industry. Despite the game's popularity, it has too many flaws to make it fun. The graphics are outdated compared to other games, the game is laggy even on broadband (dial up is a horror), the game demands you to press 20 buttons over and over again in a battle (making fighting a chore and confusing, often leaving you dead), the game is unoriginal, the cities are supposed to be player built but there are too few players and getting anything is hard, the game is unfinished (an expansion to finish it is due out in months). My recommendation is to wait, there are much better online games coming out, like Final Fantasy XI and Everquest 2.

Summary: Perfection in MMORPG Design
Review: Here it is- it took an extra generation of MMORPGs to get here, but the experience of the SOE development team is here in full force- and it shows.
As a 10+ years award-winning developer myself, I have a strong knowledge of project design and implementation... The user interface, skills trees, and feedback systems are outstanding. No other game, even single player, provides as smooth of a playing service.
If you have the desire to "play a story", or live in a different world, where you work as a humble farmer or tailor... this is it. Can you be a Jedi? Technically. Can you fight? Sure! Can you get all sorts of great loot from killing things? Well, no- that's not really the point. If you're looking for a game to go kill things, and get stuff, and repeat... well, this isn't it.
This is a game where after you've just restocked your gun factory with enough minerals for that last factory crate of components you need to finish for the custom order you received in your in-game mail, you drop by the cantina and watch a dancer while listening to the band play. Then you wander off to the nearby woods and do some hunting, to gather some hides to put on sale on the global bazaar. After this, you return to your three story house and invite some friends over to sit on the couch and swap battle tales of your last trip fighting the Imperials on Yavin IV.
This is a game of stories, and is simply jaw-dropping in its elegance. They call EverQuest "EverCrack" for its addictiveness...but there is a new drug on the market, and it is called Star Wars Galaxies.
Do not be fooled by those less knowing who claim the game to be unplayable or full of game-stopping bugs. The game is fully playable, and works better than any MMORPG has to date- but is 20 to 30 times more deep and complex... and rewarding.
See you in that Galaxy long, long ago and far, far away...

Summary: Laudable interface, graphics, and stability--but boring
Review: Galaxies is not worth buying at this time.

The problem with the game is not the bugs. It's not the graphics. It's not the interface. It's that there is not enough to do. There's a limited amount of professions available, and to keep yourself interested, you have to be a hybrid of professions. Being an entertainer just isn't fun. Being a marksman or a brawler isn't either. It seems that you have to be a combination of a classes to stay entertained, and then it becomes a hassle trying to earn money or find people who can train you so that you can spend even more time hunting repetitive enemies, dancing in a catina, or scrounging for resources.

I can't immerse myself in this game. Some people can. Some people are entertained just by chatting in the catina or chilling out with friends while picking off some enemies. I wasn't. There is no direction in this game. While some people might enjoy this, there still is no feeling of a goal, no feeling of accomplishment in anything that you do. You can join the imperial or rebel forces and do missions for them, but that feels isolated and insignificant. The whole world feels lifeless at the moment.

In other online RPGs, there's always something to strive for, even if it's just leveling up to get that next item or skill. In Galaxies, there is no leveling, and there's nothing else that can compete with that feeling of accomplishment (however slight) that is present in combat oriented RPGs.

Simply put, this game is not fun. (For me, obviously). Give it a try if you want, just be cautious and know what you're 50 dollars is getting you.

Summary: Has Force Potential
Review: I bought this game when it first came out. I have played it for a month, and it saddens me to say that I am a little dissappointed.

The game has no content. It is more of a glorified chatroom than anything else. The missions are boring and tedious, and the rewards are not worth the time/effort.

This game is highly expandable, so hopefully these issues will be resolved. This game was a great idea, but I feel it is far from a complete game. The developers should not have released it in such a raw and incomplete state.

Also 15 dollars a month is an outrageous price to pay.

Summary: Wait a few months ...
Review: The bottom line here: I've been playing this game for just over three weeks here, and it's the buggiest piece of computer software I've used in probably ten years. It's fun when it works. But almost every system in the game is, somehow, broken. Missions don't work (in several ways). XP awards don't work (once again, in several ways). Badges, a feature mentioned in the manual, don't seem to exist. Items disappear from inventory and from bank accounts. Player corpses disappear. Monsters and players suffer frequent rubberbanding. Framerates in the cities can be horrendously low (think 1 frame per several seconds). Frequent crashes to desktop. Frequent "Connection to SWG Lost" messages. And it's actually getting _more_ difficult to connect to the game in the first place.

*sigh*

Don't make the mistake I did and pay to beta-test this game. Wait a few months. When they've had time to finish it, I think it'll be great. Until then, it's just frustrating, frustrating, frustrating.

Summary: The Greatest MMORPG Ever
Review: I Believe this is the Best MMORPG Ever. I have played it since it's release and have had very few problems with it.I run it on what is now considered a "low-end" system and have been very surprised at its performance. Yes there are a few bugs, but that's inevitable with any software produced these days. SOE and Lucasarts are fast in patching these bugs, and are responsive to the needs of their customers.I only gave it 4 stars because of the bugs, otherwise it would be 5. I am looking forward to the Space Expansion on pins and needles.
