Summary: This game is flawed
Review: I am an avid player and love playing on the computer even though this game is flawed. Every once in a while, when I'm winning against Maven and the game is almost over, about 1,700 points are deducted from my score and shows me I lost. This brings down my average a lot. This game is disappointing if you are used to the older version. It is tricky to move tiles around rack but I finally got used to it. It's cumbersome to look up a word in dictionary. In the older version you were able to check meaning of word just by played without having to type it in. Also I had to shut off the music, it was so bad.

Summary: It has taken over my mind!
Review: I bought and installed Scrabble Complete on my PC with Windows XP OS and had no problems. I enjoyed the game for about a month and then all of a sudden, the computer took over and played for me and I had to quit the game to get it to stop. I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it and same thing happened. I rebooted my PC and still nothing works. I did this twice and it still won't allow me to play. I have seen this comment several times and am anxiously waiting for a resolution.

Summary: Disgrunted Scrabble Player
Review: I bought this game and it has consistently crashed my WindowsME running computer. I have following their inane FAQ and the helpless desk commentary, but to no avail. And, since I've opened the package, I can't return it. With all of the bugs in the program as outlined on their website, you would have thought they would have issued a patch for this game. Even with every aspect of the system up-to-date, and even following all of their tips, my computer freezes to where I have to go for the cold restart. ....

Summary: Scrabble "Complete"
Review: I enjoy playing Scrabble. I was disappointed to learn that Scrabble "Complete" wasn't as complete as Scrabble 2. Everything is virtually the same with the exception, I haven't been able to place "Maven" on the screen and enjoy "it's" animations with Scrabble "Complete". The addition of "Boggle" was a nice gesture. If you have Scrabble 2 you have a more "complete" version, stick with it.long time fan of crossword puzzles, from South Carolina

Summary: Only runs under Admin, Microsoft says thats a security risk!
Review: I have never written a review before on Amazon but I am compelled to write this negative review. If and when you can get this game to play it's great. But here is the problem; IF AND WHEN YOU CAN GET THIS GAME TO PLAY.
You will only ever get this game to play under an Admin account with Windows XP.
So forget about letting your family using this program under a User or Power-User account. Microsoft doesn't recommend ANYONE use XP as an administrator!!
Running under administrator is a security risk and should only be used for very short periods of time if and only if required.
Since windows XP Service Pack 2 the program won't work using the "run as" either. I know XP SP2 installs a firewall, but disabling that doesn't fix the problem either. This problem existed before SP2 but at least "run as" worked then. If you are the only person using your PC and don't mind the high risk of running Windows XP as an administrator (which Microsoft doesn't recommend) then it should work OK for you. I was able to return my software only after demonstrating this problem to the store manager. My gripe against this company is they seem to be marketing a product that is 4 or 5 years behind operating system compatability. Maybe because the original company seems to be gone. It's Atari now, it was Infogames, it was Hasbro Interactive before that. This is very short-sighted by these companies. It's Scrabble for Gods sake!! A great American game!!
I would also pay $50 (as a previous reviewer stated) for a good bug free Scrabble game with operating system compatibility.

Summary: Scrabble Comp. Only Works With Administrator Accounts in XP
Review: I have read many reviews stating the program gives a black screen and you need to do a hard-boot. I have found this to happen if the user has a limited account in XP. I installed and played the game as administrator and it worked fine. My wife tried the game under her "limited" account profile, it froze up after trying to write a registry key. This indicated to me that it may have to do with her user rights. So, I changed her account to administrator and voila, it runs Scrabble no problem. I went back and forth a couple of times to see if any thing changed. Sure enough, everytime I tried to run the game on a limited account, it didn't work. There was another review about the game playing itself using the human's name. This happened right after installation of the program, but went away after I restarted the computer. It appears that you must restart after installing the software, but the instructions don't tell you to do so.

Summary: Agree with DC Brasher (Regarding the competitor)
Review: I loaded Scrabble Complete on both my PC with Windows 98 and my laptop with Windows XP, it didn't work right on either one. It loaded fine on XP but then got stuck on a window that told me to insert the CD which was already in, but I took it out and put it back in and clicked "ok." Nothing happened, I clicked "ok" again, still nothing, I tried clicking on "cancel" and nothing happened, I was stuck, couldn't get out of the screen. I had to re-boot and never did get it working. It never worked on my PC either, couldn't even get to the "ok" or "cancel" screen. After reading DC Brasher's comments, I went to the grocery store and bought some Cheerios (they also come on Cinnamon Toast Crunch) and found a box with the Scrabble CD and grabbed another one that had Monopoly with it. I came home, installed the Scrabble CD and it worked great, I played a game, no problems and then my daughter wanted it and it worked great for her too. I aslo installed it on my PC and the only difference was,that it had to update my driver for me, which it did. There are "mini" Scrabble games to play as well, more than one person can play at a time, etc. etc. This version which is Scrabble V2.0 works great and gets 5 stars, but Scrabble Complete doesn't get any stars from me!

Summary: Almost no improvement over the previous version
Review: I loved Scrabble 2, so I bought Scrabble 3 (also known as Scrabble Complete) as soon as it came out. I was extremely disappointed to find that this version is almost identical to Scrabble 2. If you already have that version, then don't waste your money buying Scrabble 3. If you enjoy Scrabble or other word games and you don't already have Scrabble 2, then I highly recommend this game.

Summary: Scrabble from Seattle
Review: I really hesitated about buyiny this for my new Dell,especially after reading the reviews, but oh heck I took the plunge. Had problems, it just wouldn't work, got a black (blank) screen until I disabled my firewall and privacy service, just a little too much protection . I like Scrabble so much that I don't mind disabling the two when I want to play Scrabble.

Summary: Engaging, educating, fun
Review: I wasn't sure what an electronic version of Scrabble could offer me that I couldn't get sitting around a table with friends. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that not only is the Scrabble game itself very fun and well presented, but the game "extras" are comprehensive instructional tools! The many "mini games" offer opportunities to expand your word knowledge, practice making good plays on the board, improve your anagramming skills, and much more. Each mini-game breaks down a facet of Scrabble into an enjoyable practice session. There's even a very impressive "professor" tool that provides a move-by-move analysis of your past games. It can analyze your moves over successive games and offer specific suggestions for improvement, then guide you through a series of mini-games structured around your growth areas. These features offer more than just playing the game and enjoying it, and if you would like to improve your Scrabble game, or just increase your word knowledge, this is an incredible program! I had no technical problems with the software, and I find that I am playing two Scrabble games a day followed by several mini-game sessions. As a result, my Scabble scores have risen from an average of 200 points a game to 350 points a game in a very short time, and I'm encouraged to keep getting better. The only major complaint I have about the game is the astoundingly shmaltzy background music, but once I turned that off, all was fine! If you're a casual Scrabble player who wants to be a better player, or someone who loves word games, I highly recommend this software! It's thoroughly enjoyable and surprisingly instructional.
