Summary: scary, but buggy as hell.
Review: This is the only game that I have ever played that actually gave me the creeps in the dark. The story is great especially if you are a fan of the clive barker novels, but it was just hard to get aroung the shoddy play. The movement was jerky, the weapons fire a split seecond after you want them to, and it locked up and needed to be re-booted more than once. I would wait until they work out the bugs before buying this one.

Summary: Horror
Review: This is one of the best games out there. Its one of a select few that i have found to be scary, and intriguing at the same time. The plot thickens with every turn. You never know what to expect around the next corner. I highly recommend this games to anyone who loves a good scare, and a good game.

Summary: The bugs are coming! The bugs are coming!
Review: It could have been easily the game of the year. It's downright horrifying and intense. With such masterpiece graphics, sounds and feel it is easy to forgive the lack of replay value. But, BUT, the horrible bugs inroduced to the game, along with a bad-balnced gameplay, just ruined it all. The weapons are lame, the control imprecise. Far too many mouse - excercise jumping exactly from here to there wear down the experience. Then there are the bugs- no doubt the worst monstaers out there. You must not ever drain the spears from the speargun- do so and no weapon will ever shoot again. Ah, and there are plenty more for you there. Try and see for yourself- your dissapointment is assured.

Summary: horror shooter
Review: This game tries to place a horror storyline into a first-person shooter. It works. Half-life gave me a little scare from time-to-time. Undying game me serious scares from time-to-time. You can actually use the right and left mouse buttons simultaneously: I used the Scythe of the Celt weapon and the shield spell as an awesome combination. I finished the game: unless you are in a hurry, you can finish the game with minimum help from a strategy guide. We're living in some exciting times now, as Undying is an example of beautiful and fun games to come. Good hunting.

Summary: Creepy, not revolutionary
Review: This game does get high marks for the creepy level design. However, ultimately, it's just another shoot-em-up game. Like pretty much every first-person shooter, you wander through mazes (though they do a pretty good job making the levels not look like mazes), look for keys, and shoot things. There are also tedious cut scenes and a "journal" to advance the plot, such as it is.

I give it high marks for the overall look and feel, but lower marks for gameplay, and very low marks for a missed opportunity: they could have made a horror game, but instead they just put an otherwise very ordinary action game in a horror setting. It's not the same thing. On average, 3 stars.

Summary: Clive Barker's Undying
Review: Remember when you were a little tike and you thought that there was a big scary monster under the bed? Had to sleep with the lights on? Well, sleep no more as this game will DEFINATELY scare the Kacks of you. Period. Lets get to it. Well, i have never seen such a well placed control system in a game. The few that tried to mod the well wornout system failed miserably (Yes, Trespasser, i AM talking about you)but this pulls it off brilliantly. Next, the 8 (including the Gel'ziabar)weapons. Perfectly adept to the time and place (no plasma rifles and GEP guns here), and they are perfectly complimented by the 9 spells. Next is the goddamn scary atmospere. NO game i have played is as scary as this, honestly, and it's scary even with the CHEATS on! God mode and i'm still s%*ting myself. The game is held down by 2 main points. 1- NO MULTIPLAYER, the worst of the 2 blights. But, like Deus Ex (which is multiplayer now), a game of this caliber doesn't need it. And secondly, the fact that you have to close EVERY app apart from Explorer and Systray for the game to work. But it runs along smoothley on even my toss machine when it does get working. So if you need a scare (i.e the church on Monestrey Hill) and a giggle at the easter eggs (the giant sheep) go buy. Now

Summary: There is only word for this game, "AWESOME."
Review: I purchased this game last night and haven't quit playing yet.

The graphics are perfect. The sounds are perfect. The game is perfect.

However, if you are using a 32mb graphics card, you are missing out. I would suggest spending the money on the 64mb card. It ROCKS.

I play on a pentiumlll, 800mhz with a 64mb graphics card and haven't had any problems with slow loading times or anything.

It's all in your computer babyyyyyy.

THIS GAME ROCKS.

Summary: Very scary and fun to play
Review: I can only think of one other game that scared me and that was the classic Phantasmagoria. The sound effects and foreboding atmosphere of this game make it fun to play. It is more than a shooter, in that it provides a creepy story. Some people do not like the linear play, but this is an adventure game and a horror story all in one, so I welcome the style. I have beaten this game once, but I intend to play again tonight (play this at night with all the lights off).

The reason I gave it only four stars is that initially the sound quality was very choppy or in some places non-existant, even though my sound card (Sound Blaster 128) satisfied all the requirements (it was DirectSound / DirectX 8.0 compatible and tested fine). I bought a newer Sound Blaster Live and it works fine, so your sound may be faulty even if you meet their requirements.

All in all, a great game.

Summary: This will give you bad dreams...
Review: I absolutely love this game. I have played nearly all of the FPS games and the combination of puzzles, investigation, graphics and sounds effects is the best so far (for my tastes anyway.) This is a very spooky game best played in the dark. The only downsides are the long load times and the lacking usability in the controls, but the incredible graphics blow me away every time I play this and I am more than willing to withstand the short waits. This sort of reminds me of a cross between the Myst-like reality graphics with the fun of a FPS. I hope there is a sequel.

Summary: Undying: Fun Dies Quickly
Review: It is disturbing to me that so many respected reviewers are praising a first person shooter without Multiplayer with 9.0+ and 5 star scores. Undying is a fair entertainment product that uses the Unreal Engine. It is not a ground breaking program, nor important piece of gaming history. It is a fair game bacause it accomplishes to create a horrific and spooky atmosphere using sound and inspired level design. It is unimportant due to failure in almost every other department. The single player game can be finished quickly in a few days and replay value is zero, considering the linear scripted story, which is under-developed to say the least.
