Summary: Great, atmospheric, action-packed entertainment
Review: Clive Barker's Undying is a tremendous game, albeit a terrifying one! In it you play a 'ghostbuster' type of character that investigates a family gone bizarre - that is, a family complete with vampires, demons and the un-dead. A little bit more twisted than your average Jerry Springer dysfunctional family! You investigate all sorts of strange occurrences through a seamless first person 'shooter' interface, and you have a variety of weapons and spells to choose from. The most interesting spell is the 'scrye' spell, in which you are temporarily granted a 'vision' of sorts - if you activate this spell you can see ghosts wandering around, blood writing on the walls, and pictures that somehow spring to life! It's subtle nuances like these that make Undying such an unnerving and exciting game. I loved it from start to finish - it's taxing, terrifying and really entertaining. Five stars!

Summary: Most FANTASTIC and scariest game I have EVER played
Review: I have nothing but good things to say about this game! I am a Clive Barker fanatic, and waited on pins and needles for this to come out. I was not disappointed, in fact, it far exceeded my expectations! Imagine every single book, short story, play and painting to bare the name Barker all rolled into one, and then placed with vivid clarity and backed by haunting music before you. For example, traverse the realms of the Imajica and battle the Cenobites, only bigger and better and down-right meaner. Well worth every single penny and every single second you'll spend with your eyes glued to your monitor. Pump up the music, make sure you have enough ram and a great video and sound and game care, and you will NOT be disappointed!

Thank you Mr. Barker!

Summary: Excellent voyage, excellent game.
Review: Once you start on it you cannot stop. Like a cross between doom, resident evil, and many other fantasy games. But Barker's story keeps it from being just another clone. Great fun and only play it in the dark.

Summary: Great, Scary, and Fun

Summary: Quite addicting.
Review: If you want a serious challenge with a great story and alot of creatures jumping from all dark corners, then this is your game. The boss creatures in the game are very tough, especially the final one. The graphics were solid, the sounds were solid, and the game was solid. What kept this from being a truly awesome game was there was a little too much story telling. Seemed like every time you turned around, you had another cut scene. And most of the weapons weren't all that good and neither was the magic.
But one of the neat features was the Scrye spell. It let you see things that happened in the past. And when you used it while looking at some pictures they looked different. Very cool. You just have to see for yourself.
Overall, this was a solid game that had some creepy music to set you up for quite a few good scares. Gave me goose bumps the whole time I played it. Could have done better with the weapons and the spells, but still worth the money and the time. Good luck.

Summary: Most immersive game I've played
Review: Having played lots of FPS, I can say that this game is GREAT. Truly immersive. I find myself just hanging out and looking at the beautiful environment. The level of detail on the exteriors and interiors is awesome, the monsters truly "Barker-esque" and powered by great AI and the storyline one of the strongest I've seen.
If you're looking for some Halloween chills&thrills, this game's for you!

Summary: NOT BAD FOR THIS PRICE!
Review: If I would of known then what I know now about the game I would have waited. The game play, graphics, music are all really good. What is the best about the game is the story! Here is a suggestion for when playing: Do it in a DARK ROOM! Everytime I went to bed I was scared crazy just walking down my short, dark hall to the bedroom. The atmosphere it presents is truly awesome. How can you resist a Haunted house with creatures flying at you or popping up thru the floor boards? Or even running around in a mausoleum not knowing where to hide? Unfortunately the game dies off at the end and once you've played it you know what to expect. So replayability is kind of out the window. I tried starting another game recently and it still is as scary as ever. But the problem is I know whats going to happen in the storyline. Also the bosses are not too hard to get rid of. Just takes some practice and you got it down everytime you face one. So thats why I mentioned that at this price its not a bad game at all!

Summary: not near as good as it could have been
Review: So when EA was having some problems fleshing out their latest first-person shooter, they decided that it might be a good idea to ask famed horror writer Clive Barker for some assistance. Barker, seemingly always eager to find new ways to scare people, jumped at the chance. So what's the end result like? First, lets talk about the design of the game. It sure looks nice enough. UNDYING is a visually gratifying game. A lot of scary sounds and noises will also be streaming out of your speakers; There's no fault in the audio department either. It's also easy to spot Barker's influence. People who've read some of his novels or seen some of his films will easily recognize Barker's twisted imagination. This is certainly a great kick for fans of his. But in the end UNDYING winds up falling short on the game play side of things; And as always, it's game play above graphics. First off, the developers seems to have forgotten the golden rule of scaring people. For as Alfred Hitchcock once said, the greatest scare is waiting for the murder and not the murder itself. Well, Hitchcock might have said something like that and it sure does ring true. UNDYING starts out spooky enough, but suddenly you're bombarded by fiends from all sides and you quickly find yourself too busy killing monsters to be afraid of them. This problem also tears away the story's credibility. The mansion (most of the game takes place in a huge Victorian manor) is filled with servants and I can't see why any one of the would stay there if the house was packed to the brim with monsters. I also didn't like the weaponry in UNDYING. I like weapons to resemble real life weapons, and one instalment in your arsenal is a golden dragonhead that spews bolts of ice. I mean, what's that? Apparently, Barker talked a lot about lending credibility to the characters in the game; They shouldn't have refrained from adding a bit of credibility to other aspects of the game as well. So the end result, and my conclusion, is that UNDYING is a game that's certainly enjoyable enough, but it's nowhere near where it should be.
