Summary: Sleep......must sleep. Eat......must eat.
Review: This game has sucked up all my available time, and more. I came home from work for another dungeon crawl and wound up taking a 3 hour lunch. Never got into Diablo 1 so most of the comparison complaints are null to me. GOOD THINGS: Simple, addictive gameplay. Lots of kills, easy getting started. Excellent sound, adequate graphics. Cool surprises!

BAD THINGS: Not enough storage for goodies found, lousy save game feature(starts you back at town and repopulates monsters). Multiplayer on Battlenet has terrible lag.

Summary: diablo vs. diablo 2
Review: OK, here is the deal. Last night I beat star craft which was a sweet game. So i have been looking for a new game; my friends told me to get one of the diablo games. So i have been reviewing them seing which would best satisfy me. The reason i am writting this is that what i have heard is the graphics for d2 suck and that also it would require me having a voodoo 3dfx card which i dont have. And for diablo i havent heard of such thing. I will probaly end up buying both of them, but i just wanted to let everybody know that diablo is alot cheaper and also you really dont require a 3dfx card.

Summary: Diablo 2 is Great...But not the greatest.
Review: Really I would like to give this game a 4 1/2 stars but this rating system won't let me. This game is extreamly good but you can't convince me that it's the "best game I ever played". Because that's how everyone feels when thier playing a new game, and then eventually they lose intrest and it becomes an "okay" or a "good" game. So, really you have to judge for how good the gameplay is and how long it takes for you to get bored of it. If you never get bored of it, then it will be a GREAT GAME.

The gameplay is very good, and it took me many many many hours to beat Diablo and get on a high level. I also love the new ladder rankings they had put into the game, adding more competition. But probably the best addition added into this game, is the 'realm'. The Cheats/Hacks really ruined the Diablo experiance for me. I belive cheats are for amatuer people who cant play, so they use it to feel like thier good at the game... Anyway, Diablo 2 is a lot better then the first and I really think it's worth it (only if you have the internet, and when the b.net is working fine). I highly recommend it for people who love action/rpg to buy this game now or eventually. Even if you don't like action/rpg's, buy it anyway.

Summary: You Must Enter the Realm of Santuary Once Again...
Review: Do you remember playing Diablo? was that fun? addictive? True there are lots of "improvements" to that game but when you just get down to the truth, the game is out and its FUN! I bought the Game right after it was released and I finished it in a week. The game is definately rich and you will enjoy it if you played Diablo. In the previous version of Diablo, there werent that many scenic changes, now you go from one town to another. The Game is 4 Acts long.. and each Act in my opinion is about as long as the original game (except last act) . For each act you travel to a different Town. The NPC's are more entertaining by that I mean they give you lots of useful information....the storyline is more rich and the basic mechanics of just playing is simpler.

Major Pros:

- You can play Multiplayer with your single player character - Diablo creature.. very COOL! [THATS ALL I will SAY] - storyline.. on your toes till the END! - Gaining Skills from a specifc Skill tree is much better than finding Spell books - Stackable Items (awesome now I have space to for more useful stuff) - For each Act you meet a challenging Creature. - each plain or "Area" you go to in each act is diverse and different (except for ActIII) - All of the Quests are interesting and fun.. some quests require that you collect items.

Major Cons: - Act III is repetitive and redundant definately not as exciting as Act I and Act II. Act IV.. well could have been better.. - Bugs, many of them.. that doesnt stop me from loving the game here are a few.. I wasnt able to get a new skill on one occurence. I am a level 30 Amazon and I cant get level 24 > skills, At several points in the Game my Experience would change and I would be holding a weapon I cant equip. - No saving in Single Player Game - No Null modem connection [TCP/IP or Battle.net] - I run the game on a PIII 700MHZ 128R 24X CD and the game is sometimes slow, audio is choppy and alot of breaks.

NevertheLess Go Buy and Enjoy!

Summary: Diablo 2: a very fun game
Review: I do not own Diablo 2. But my friend does and we were on it the whole day. I really like the way the Barbarian can have double weapons, and the way the Necromancer can raise the dead. It is my favorite game by far, and I'm working on my parents to let me get it. I think it is worth every penny and I hope the next Blizzard games are as good as this one is.

Summary: hear me, bi-pedal primates of earth!
Review: lo! i stand before you to tell of my exploits! once, not so very long ago, i had a vision. more than a simple thought, no! an epiphany! you see, the dinosaurs - you know, those big lizards? to continue, the dinosaurs are in great peril! for you see, the coming of our Lord and Savior is coming soon; a little thing called the apocalypse, ragnarok, doomsday - you dig me? the dinosaurs, not having heard of the wonder of christianity, are in great peril of burning in hell forever. i, for one, mean to do something about it. so i, being the brilliant mammal i am, built a time machine and have completely spread the dogma of christianity to those extinct thunder lizards. "did they accept the inherent vacuous symbolism and absurd bronze-age superstition", you ask? of course! their minds, walnut sized in some cases, is not their strong point. but so what? they'd still eat you not realizing that you are their intellectual superior.

so in closing:

dinosaurs converted to christianity - good.

diablo 2 - not good.

have a lovely day

Summary: Improved over the original
Review: When I first played Act I, I was mildly impressed, but not terribly.

The graphics weren't that great, and it appeared to be a rehash of Diablo with new character classes and some other doohickies thrown in.

Then, I played some of the other characters, and I played one characer twice.

Whoa!

The game is very subtle, and the character classes are very distinct. The skills are amazing. You can play the same character with many different focuses. It would be possible to play at least two distinct versions of each character, run them through act I and have long hours of entertainment just trying to figure out how to beat the first boss (I've put 2 characters through act I and have 3 more in progress).

But wait! There are *4* acts. Each act is distinct, with unique (and better) graphics, other monsters - each fitting the mode of the level - and things to be careful of.

Then, once you finish all 4 acts, you get to do it all again, with tougher monsters, and cooler items to be got.

Then, you can try it with multi-player. Multi-player is mindblowing. The game scale, and the distinct characters have very real tactical and strategic considerations for interacting. It's very deep and subtle. Or not - if that's not your thing.

It took me about 40 hours to kill Diablo, most of that being in a two player game. And that's only normal level for one character.

In theory there are 5 characters who can pair up with 5 characters - giving 25 different combinations, with different strategies and challenges for beating Diablo. Never mind that each character will interact differently depending on skills. A bone&poison necromancer will play differently from a summoner and bring different things to a multi-player game.

And of course, there are a thousand little subtle things, where the interface was refined and just plain works right. Little things. Like the spread of multiple shots (or teeth). Hold the mouse close, the spread is wide. Hold it far, the spread is narrow. Makes a big difference when you're slugging it out. Target wrong, and the spell is worth less.

All that for the price of a computer game? Sign me up!

I've read reviews where they say the graphics aren't that hot - I run NT, so graphics aren't a big concern for me, I don't get 3D.

And Quake and Unreal have better engines or whatever. Don't play either, and am not interesting in shoot-'em-up.

Diablo II is a strategy game - in certain senses. Enough so to make it interesting and requiring some thought, but with enough mayhem to make it relaxing after a long day.

Summary: Fun Game - To Many Bugs
Review: Allow me to begin by saying that I have everything required except I have a 200 MMX rather than a 233 Megaherts Pentium, which is the minimum required.

I played Diablo I for a long time both on and off line so needless to say I was one of the first to buy the game when it came out at $65.00 bucks.

I enjoy Diablo II very much and I finally killed Diablo last night for the first time. :-)

This is a fun game that still has a lot of the mystery found in the original game. My only complaint is the bugs. For example, every time a huge group of creatures is near - the game lags temporarily while they all load (my video card is a Monster Fusion 16mb). Online gaming lag time is horrible - time to get ADSL or cable connection.

Also, I left the Horadric Cube in Act II on the ground in town with other items only to come back from the jungle and it was gone - fortunately, after I had combined the Horadric Staff! Alas, the computer figured it out in ACT III that it stole my cube and gave it back so I could complete ACT III. I don't like the automap because it is hard to see. Also, the creatures many times get blended in with background especially in the white desert while using it. Diablo had much better graphics because you could see everything better with the automap on.

The good things - a place to stash stuff, good plots, mystery with numerous monsters, more creative items, fun conquering the quests. Oh yeah, the time warps are great.

This is it in a nutshell. Personally, I think if they made these good things changes in Diablo I and kept the graphics similiar - this game would be the greatest. I also wish they would cut down on the number of people to talk to in town - how about one stop shopping.

Good luck everyone!

Summary: Why don't you own this?
Review: Diablo II is easily the best game this year. Every magazine article I read about this has confirmed this. The reviews are well deserved.

If you own Diablo you won't be dissapointed. The depth of this game is such that I already have 7 characters and will probably have more.

Diablo 1 set up Diablo II and Diablo II has set up Diablo III. I already can't wait of Bilzzard to put the next one out. Diablo II was worth the wait, so stop reading this review and buy it.

Summary: Doesn't live up to its hype... But still a good time killer
Review: Diablo2 is actually nothing more than the upgrade pack for the original Diablo. The graphics are still almost the same 640x480 with so-limited colors. The gameplay is still nothing more than clicking and clicking on the enemies, until they're gone.

This game has a very good story and plot.. However, all of wasted on the repettitive gameplay.. no matter what the plot or the quest is, all you have to do is running around and kill everything to obtain some certain item (sometime just kill some boss, and the quest is over). I think... games with the story and plot as good as Diablo2 should be much more interesting if there're more things to do with those plots. (It is, however, still better than the original Diablo, and I hope it would be better in Diablo3).

One thing, the Cinematics are very good, and is one of the best I've ever seen in any computer game. Even now, sometime I still load the game just to watch those cinematics.

Another thing.. this game was way too short and too easy. I finished it within 3-4 days after I start playing it. As a veteran Computer RPGer, who had been playing a lot of RPGs including BioWare's incredible line of RPGs like Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment and a lot of older titles (since the AD&D gold box and Betrayal at Krondor), I feel that this game is far too short and too easy.

Anyway, this game is still fine.. as a time killer. Since Icewind Dale is not yet release in Japan.. I'll enjoy clicking in Diablo2 for a while.
