Summary: Good, but not great. Had a tough act to follow.
Review: This game is the continuation of the (in my opinion) the best RPG of its time. You have little choosing of your path, and little character development, but you WILL spend countless hours playing it. Finding items, killing monsters, taking in the ultimate of evil in the ever growing David and Goliath saga. If you played Diablo 1, this is a 3. If you never played Diablo 1, this is a 7 or 8. Diablo One was a complete triumph, this one, is a good game, but had to live up to Star Wars: Episode One like hype. If you overhype something, it will inevitably be doomed to fail. The bad news, Blizzard wanted to release all language versions at one time to limit bootlegging, thus allowing avid fans to gossip and speculate, ruining the game theoretically. Buy it. Its good. You'll beat it, you'll say you have, you'll move on. Its a good game, just overhyped and underdone. Could have been better, and less like Diablo 1. AWESOME STORY/PLOT LINES! Its worth a pick-up.

Summary: Better than the original!
Review: In the annals of software history never have so few done so much for so many! Beats Half-life by a mile!

Summary: Highly Addictive, Enjoyable Gameplay
Review: Blizzard has outdown themselves this time, Diablo 2 speaks for itself in that it completely surpasses any expectations one might of had of the sequal to the number one game of the year. The gameplay is engrossing and entertaining. The method in which the skill tree is advanced is completly up to the user, this makes for better game play in that its a lot more customizable than the first Diablo or any other roleplaying/action game out there. The new characters also allows for a more user directed experience. My only complaint about this game is that it has completely monopolized my time, especially in regards to my Everquest character. However Battlenet.com is free, while sony's online gaming comes with a price. With all of this in mind I would highly recommend purchasing this game, just don't plan on having a life outside of your computer.

Summary: Not that great
Review: There was a lot of hype over this game's release because it took so long to develop and Diablo was so groundbreaking. Admittedly, Diablo was very engrossing and certainly had me hooked for some time. I saw 5-star reviews here before Diablo 2 was even released, and I think that was a bit premature (and just plain wrong). The fact is that this game IS a sequel to Diablo. There is, when you get down to it, nothing much in terms of innovation when compared to the classic. The two main things that are new are the unique skills for each class, and the fact that you have to complete certain quests to continue in the game. If you ask me, the latter is more restricting than desirable.

Once you have finished the game once, you'll be able to do it again very easily. The only thing that will slow you down is the random map generation. I find that after playing out the five characters and finishing the game a few times, the only thing to look forward to is finding new items. Even then, if you don't have the patch, the secret cow level can get you literally anything you want in that regard.

Such 'great advancements' such as gems and socketable items are massively overstated. You will find that all gems are basically worthless as you get farther into the game. There are much better items to equip than socketed ones, and you'll end up stashing or selling a ton of gems. Similarly, you'll find a lot of unique items that are worthless, due to the fact that you only find them late in the game and they don't have enough value to replace the 'exceptional' items. Granted, these things would be fantastic to have on a starting character, but you won't be finding them as one.

Lastly, if you're a hardcore RPG fan, be advised that this is NOT an RPG. You only control one (and no more than one) character, and there is nothing in terms of strategy. The only RPG elements it has are quests and character stats, which don't qualify it as an RPG. It is more like a cross between action and RPG, with weight on the action side of things.

The verdict: If you haven't played original Diablo, this game will blow you away. If you have, it will still kill a lot of time, but don't expect anything new.

Summary: A Wonderful Game Ruined by the Save Function
Review: I enjoyed the original Diablo greatly. I could not wait for the release of the sequel. I preordered it and waited for it to arrive. The weapons and characters were great. I started my first game and went to save it and was shocked. I could not save unless I began the game again. The save option degraded it to an old Sega Genesis game. The entire point of a computer game, in my opinion, is to save and explore. With the saving format, I lost vauble time, gold, and weapons. If you want to spend your day other places besides your computer DO NOT!!!!!! get Diablo 2.

Summary: absolutely incredible sequel to Diablo
Review: Diablo II is simply one of the most addictive gaming experience you will ever have. Like Diablo, the interface is extremely easy to get used to, so you can concentrate on your adventure without worrying about the controls. Even though the graphics look much like the original, the art work in Diablo is definitely praise-worthy. Each act looks unique conpared to the other ones. The five classes provide you with a wide range of abilities and attributes to develop and use against the evil forces. One major minus though: unlike Diablo, you cannot really save in Diablo 2. When you do save and exit, the monsters regenerate themselves. This forces you to finish the fight once you start it. Other than this inconvenience, Diablo 2 is definitely one of the best action-RPG game ever.

Summary: Diablo II Rocks!
Review: This game is the best one out there, better than the all mighty Craft. My only problem with it is that it is very demanding on your computer, slower machines just can't handle it. But the gaming experience more than makes up for this. If you don't have this game or you don't like it you are a LOOZZER!

Summary: Diablo 2? What is it?
Review: This game may provide some entertainment for the first three days or so, but after that, like the first Diablo, it really gets old fast. What is this game, anyway? It's certainly NOT an RPG by any standard. Is it an action game? Not really. A true action game should require some hand-eye coordination and sensitive timing. It's just click and hack here. Is this a strategy game? No. Strategy requires some variation in tactics, situations, and adjustment in gameplay as you progress. The only strategy here is to lure the monsters back to a door, wait there, and hack them down as they try to come through one by one. Strangely, though, even in spite of its extremely simple-minded play, it is fairly addictive, at least for a short time.

There was a freeware game put out on the net about 10 years ago, created by some Stanford students. It was called Moira Balrog, a fantasy hack/slash game with dungeons drawn out with simple ASCII characters. The object was to kill your way through about 20 dungeon levels, and kill Moira at the end. Each dungeon level was randomly generated every time you played a new game. There was a town where you could buy and sell goods, weapons, armor, and such. There were several hundred items in the game. You would go into the dungeon, hack monsters, get stuff, level, and then teleport back to town where you would sell old stuff and buy new stuff. And you keep working your way down until you hit Moira. Sound familiar?

I have to give Blizzard credit - they really know how to milk this cow for all its worth. This game may be worth buying at $25.00 - $30.00, but it's certainly not worth blowing $50.00+ on.

Summary: D'Oh, did not live up to hipe IMO.
Review: Ugh, I hate it when something like this happens. I get all worked up the week it is slated to come out, then I get it and am let down. The initial problem was getting it to play, which took Blizzard 2 days to get back to me. Then it was beating the game the 4th day I had it. I promtply un-installed after 3 nights of trying to get on bnet with no success. If you want a good RPG then go straight for Vampire!!!
