Summary: The Best Console Game Ever Comes To The PC with drawbacks
Review: It was really hard for me to say this about my favorite console game of all time. I bought the original the day it came out and it is still one of my favorites. I had to get rid of my Playstation, and having this game WITH the VR Missions was terrific. If you already own both of the original games, there is no reason why you should buy this. Contrary to some of the screen shots posted on the web (and Amazon) skin textures were not replaced, just PSX originals blurred over with your PC accelerator. The high-res modes give it a cleaner feel, but polygons still run into each other way too often. The main question is if you do not have the game at all, which version you should buy. The main, HUGE advantage of the PC version is the VR missions included on a second disc. Although many people put it down for lacking the great story line of the main mission, the gameplay is very good and challenging, and with 300+ missions, there was a lot more that the game companies could do. Therefore, Metal Gear is taken up a step, with puzzle and mystery modes, playing as the ninja, and killing 50-foot genome soldiers. VR Missions is on the PSX also, but available seperately, so this will increase your costs if you buy it on the PSX. However, buying the original on the Playstation has great aspects also. For example, many scenes were scripted to use Playstation technology such as the rumble packs and the memory card, which the PC programmers found convenient to cut out completely from the re-release. Also, the gore has been tuned down in certain areas- Metal Gear Solid on the PSX was rated Mature for 3 main scenes which were excessively violent, two in the middle, and one towards the end. The PC port has taken the blood out, which you can look at in either a positive or a negative way; for me, it made it look unrealistic and completely destroyed the drama and intensity that MGS has been made famous for. BOTTOM LINE: If you already have the game, don't get it. If you're money-conscious, the 2 for 1 deal on the PC and updated resolutions is the way to go. However, if you are willing to spend the money for the 2 individual games on the PSX (come to think of it, the prices have dramatically dropped since its release, so it should not be that much more expensive) buy them, because you get everything you get on the PC, plus much, much more.

Summary: (for the Playstation)one of the best of action/stealth games
Review: Metal Gear Solid is a great game. It's one of the best in its genre. The Metal Gear people have always been cutting edge. The graphics are great. The story behind the game is phenomenal, and this game is a long and involved one. You couldn't ask for better game play, and the game isn't easy, but neither is it too difficult. Great for the middle of the road player like myself. I look forward to picking up Metal Gear Solid 2 because of how great this game is. I highly recommend this game for anyone who likes action games, stealth games, role playing games, and anything else along the line.

Summary: Absolutely one of the best games ever made
Review: Metal Gear Solid is indubitably one of the best game in the world, regardless of the platform. On PlayStation, it only suffered grainy graphics that were always shades of blue-gray. However, the game still played excellent, which is an obvious testament that it is well-balanced.

Although the story is hackneyed (the same old "nuclear weapon being controlled by your archnemesis that happens to be your brother and could destabilize the entire world if it isn't stopped within twenty-four hours), it is presented like a top-notch movie. The voice acting is by far some of the best I have ever had the privelige of hearing. The many cutscenes move the twisting plot along, always keeping you on your toes to find out what happens at the end, and what REALLY is going on. The entire story is presented through a sort of gritty James Bond-way that is extremely mature, without an ounce of amateurish jokes in any shape or form.

Control is also a stroke of genius. Presented through a smooth third-person view, it is extremely flexible and allows you to do such moves as drag bodies, break necks, shoot while moving, etc. Forget the wild and confusing camera angles of Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Solid is one of the few games that did it right.

The only bad attribute of this game is that it is far too short, but that is my only complaint. You could conceivably run through the game in three hours. However, there are such things as the Stealth Suit that will you keep you coming back for more. BUY THIS GAME! I guarantee you will not regret it. The fact that the system requirements are relatively low in this day and age allows no excuse as to why anybody should be without this work of art.

Summary: KILLER GAME BY KONAMI !!!
Review: Metal Gear Solid was the best RPG I have ever played! It was very realistic in such way the the gards go on alert when the see you or here you splashing in the pudles. They can even track your footsteps in the snow! To any of you who have played the PSX version of it you are probably fimilare with the cool secrets, like the bandana or the stealth suit, wich you can not get in this game. It is a different verion called Metal Gear Solid Integral. It has the same story plot but with a couple new features. If you start the game on Very Easy you automaticly get a Silenced MP5 with unlimited ammo, and if you press X twice quikly you can move and shoot in 1st person veiw mode. I honestly don't think it should of been rated Muture. It is violent but not much blood at all. Sort of like Golden Eye for 64. There is a little swering but it is not very bad (words like hell or damn but no worse). I don't know what the cridics consider sexual content. There is just a little bit of flirting witch you can skip right through by pressing shift. If you like this game and you want more Fox Hound action, get Metal Gear Solid for game boy Color or if you have PS2 get Mtal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. They are even coming out with Metal Gear X for PS2, Game Cube, and Xbox. It comtains Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid, and Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.
