Summary: Horrible, I would not recommend it to anyone....
Review: As the newest expansion pack came out, SOL (shadows of lucin or Sh!t outa luck), Verant inc forgot 1 thing. They forgot to put it through QA. If you have an "older" computer... forget EQ. Not only do the people who spent hundreds of dollars upgrading their computers to play EverQuest, but also the people with high end machines are all having much difficulties logging into the game. And if you are lucky enough to enter "Their World" after a 10+ hour patch which seems to happen on a daily basis, most likely you will lock up within 30 mins into the game.

If you survive all that a new set of problems occur. Frame rate issues are at the top of the list and lag issues come in a close 2nd. Most of the new spells in game do not work. The graphics and textures are bugged. To zone from place to place takes 5 or more mins. To log out of the game takes about 15 mins or you can reset your machine. Simply put, you need a computer that can handle world war 3 to play EQ without any problems.

Verant inc is trying a new product stratagy. They make YOU pay to beta test the game. Cool huh?

If you dont believe me then goto their own public tech support message boards. (...) Sad sad game. I do not recommend you getting stucked into their world....

If you still end up buying the game, good luck. May the EQ gods grant you the power to never need Customer Service. (...)

Summary: There are other MMORPGs out there... (...)
Review: I have been playing these types of games for about two years now. It started with Everquest. Everquest was slow moving, boring but soooooooo addictive....

Now I'm playing Lineage. It takes everything Everquest did makes it 100x better and also throws in some great new ideas. Lineage has this thing called bloodpledges which are groups of warriors led by a prince or princess. These bloodpledges are always trying to capture castles that other bloodpledges control and its a great thing to do after you get to a high level unlike in Everquest when you stand around waiting for teh next expansion pack when you get to a high enough level.

Speaking of expansion packs Lineage releases a new episode every month(its now on epiode 9) and a new continent 4 times a year. It's like getting 4 free expansion packs a year!!! And trust me these continents are HUGE! (...)

Summary: Newbie feeling not so new anymore
Review: Everquest makes you feel right at home. If your little half-elf is tired of fighting by himself, the best thing to do is make friends with other players who are at the same level as you are or with a little bit more experience. Fight together with them as a group or see if you can get an invite to a guild. That was the best thing that happened to me on Everquest. Before that time, I felt lost in the game and was not sure what was going on all of the time. Being a member of a guild has brought a new educated light to my characters and made me a better player. Now this newbie is not so new anymore.
In addition to this, I would like to add that Everquest is good for long weekends inside when it is snowing or raining outside. Some might even say it is better than the perfect day at the beach. Besides, they DO have beaches in Norrath...

Summary: Why is this now the only way to get Scars of Velious?
Review: This game is awesome and very addicting, but I wish they had NOT stopped producing the two expansions included in this set, because now all their current players who had not yet gone out and purchased Scars of Velious are required to pay twice as much to get it. It is suddenly out of print. This is stupid!!

Summary: One part inovation, four parts blunder... Neverquest!!!
Review: I have played this game for a period of time, and my review of this package is not good. Actually, it is down right awful. When the package was first released it had promise. Please note, I said 'had'. Playing solo in the world is not possible without hooks, crooks, gouges, and the like. The premiss of the game is to kill, PERIOD!! You can do anything really interesting without killing. Meaning, if you want to make a character that is an armorsmith, you would have to go out into the world and kill untill to made enough exp to level and then take enough time and spend enough Gold pieces to make an item that is for a character 5-15 levels below you, THEN the item can be sold back to a vendor at a 10%-50% loss (What a plus!). Not only that, but the best items in the game can't be made, they are found on the bodies of the huge creatures I mentioned earlier.

Verant's idea with this game is to keep you online as long as possible. Long medding times, ubber creatures that can't be killed by small groups, lack of a real economy, broken quests, ect., ect., ect. In some places the world itself is broken (I actually ended in a room with a cat's face on all the walls *this was not a part of the player world*). If you like MMORPG's, STAY AWAY FROM THIS ONE!!! Look at Dark Ages of Camelot.

If short, this WAS a good game that went HORRIBLY WRONG!!!

Thanks Verant!!! Next time just give us a paper cut, and pour Gasoline in it... then light it.

Summary: I have seen the future-and it works!!
Review: The size and scope of this game is just amazing. It is not perfect but it is, in my opinion, the first successful massive on line role playing game out there. It is so BIG, ambitious and varied that it is almost impossible to see everything and do it all. This is also a social experience:I have made friends from many different countries and cultures. Working in a group of six-an American(me!), 2 Germans, a Swede, a Chinaman and some guy who didn't even speak enough English to let his team mates know where he was from-is a LOT of fun. I think the future of gaming belongs to concepts like EQ-perhaps the next generation will bridge the gaps of language, nation, region and culture via this new medium of communication.

Summary: Thumbs Down
Review: I bought this game 1 month ago because I got sick of Diablo II. Finding out it has the same faults as Diablo. The makers are changing things constantly (usually for the worse)& the value per time played is just too low. These makers need to realize there is a line in escapist fun between realism & ultra-realism. If a game is "too realistic", i.e. dying really screws you up (EQ), uber-equipment is next to impossible to find even after playing for 2 years (DII), then where is the "escape" element? People play these games because the time & effort to receive pleasure from the work involved is so low compared to trw. After playing for 1 month I realize the fun received has not been worth the effort. 40+ hours of camping & corpse recovery = level 8 druid wood elf. And reading the other reviews here I see it is only going to get worse. I just got Age of Empires the Conquerers & I am playing awesome entire camaigns in less time it takes in EQ to make 1 level. And I find the company's treatment of customer feedback just plain offensive. Well I have just ordered Silent Hunter II & my vibes are its going to have a high play value also so I am canceling my EQ account. Companies that rebuke their customers should be boycotted. I only hope these companies learn their lesson for Star Wars Galaxies and World of Warcraft. I and a lot of people will not be playing these MMORPGs anymore until these shortcomings are addressed.

Summary: The Best Of The Best
Review: This game is the best. The Graphics are mind blowing and the play is great. Ever Quest is one of the most succesful Role Playing games ever. The new expansions are great. The trilogy has all of the expansions. When you play, you are in a whole different world. This game is very addicting.

Summary: Best computer game I have ever played.
Review: Since I started playing EverQuest the other games I have have gone back into their boxes. You don't play this game just against computer generated AI characters, you play in cooperation with other living people.

Unlike other online game platforms I have tried, like GameSpy for example, EverQuest is filled with players who are actually polite and helpfull when asked for assistance. Imagine that!

Verant has worked hard to build an enjoyable game platform, that promotes player harmony and cooperation. They should be commended.

Buy this game... (Not responsible for you wife hating me as a result of this review!)
