Summary: This game is awsome!
Review: This game is great...a total immersion....online play against real people using period weapons and tactics. The game evolves continually with the addition of new weapons and money I have ever spent on a game!

Summary: ww 2 o/l current status
Review: I would like to say a few things about this game.. I first purchesed it back in Aug. At that point in time the game had vast amounts of bugs. But they have made tremendous strides in getting most of them fixed.(still a slight sound bug, goes in and out...very rare) The game is still not finished but then again it wont ever be finished as its a on going thing.....they keep adding new weapons, citys, terrrain etc. I give this game 4 stars for the simple fact that there isn't anything like it, and the fun level. I have have never played a sim where my adrenaline starts pumping, sweaty palms the works. Its just alot more satifying knowing you just shot down another person vs a computer. I give it my seal of approval

Summary: Game has gotten A LOT better since release!
Review: I am writing this prior to the great patch, v1.5, which gave the game nearly complete stability, great performance, and TONS of new vehicles. Both the Axis and the Allies have both gained about 20 new units since release, the game NEVER crashes anymore, plus FPS (Frames Per Second) have improved dramaticly. I warn you not to judge this game on any review before October 17, when v1.3 came out, as you will be passing up a great game. You should buy this game, and WHEN you buy, play ALLIED!

Summary: One Star for play - One star for concept.
Review: When this game was released in June, it had issues. We all said "just give it a couple of months, it will work its self out."
Well, it's subscription based now, six months, and the quality is still suffering.
I really, really wanted this to work. The concept of this was so impressive that it alone earns bonus points.
But, sadly, that massive concept was also the downfall of it. Trying to be everything, it manages to be nothing well.

Save those Christmas dollars (and the monthly fee) for something more robust.

This is such an awsome concept, I find it hard to believe some company with stronger coding ability will not attempt a project like this again.

Summary: A bad launch, good progress
Review: This was CRS's first box-game launch; the core staff all worked previously on on-going multiplayer games like WarBirds.

Since release they have not been idle and have worked ardendtly to deal with the release issues and problems. The game has come a long way and shows no sign of stopping.

It is not a game for the feint-hearted or impatient. It's also not quake. One shot can kill in this game.

If you jump in with delusions of grandeur, you're likely to get burned. Unlike other games, you won't hear the bullet before it hits you. Speed of sound is modelled, just like so many other subtleties that can make this game so intense.

But if you can learn to get that shot, if you can learn to outplan the enemy then t is a chance to live out all those black-and-white WWII films you've seen, all those stories you've read, maybe even your chance to play a role in Saving Private Ryan or Band of Brothers.

This game can be so very highly rewarding if you endure but that reward can come at the price of a *lot* of frustration.

Summary: anybody see a pattern here?
Review: If you bothered to read the many reviews of this game you may have noticed that playability and satisfaction are a crap shoot.
no rhyme or reason to it, some folks get great frame rates while others (do not), this seems to be independant of system specs or connection speed, I only had an average of 13-15 fps and I have cablevision (top of the heap on dsl reports) and over 400mb of ram in my p3 633mhz system.
You may also notice overly fervent fanboys assualting anyone who grumbles about their problems (paid booster club?, free membership for flaming naysayers?)
Short of it is CRS lied about the game.

pros.
It is a great idea and very fun to play, if you can run it.
It does take some skill to survive, expect to die for the first month at least.
Team aspect while slim is workable tho cooperation is a bit lacking.

Cons.
Might not work for you.
no supply, no front, a town can fall to 1 infintry unit.
graphics on the ground are buggy (see through mountains, flagging ect.)

support and docs are lame.

too many odd assorted bugs to list.

in closing, its a great idea but it dont work just yet, perhaps some day but not today.

Summary: Long on idea, short on execution
Review: I really, really wanted to like this game. It's easily the best idea I've seen in the last decade. Imagine a game that simulates the entire scope of the Second World War - ground, sea, and air. Very cool.

Sadly, the game itself doesn't measure up to the idea. First, there are staggering hardware requirements that still don't provide smooth enough framerates for air-to-air combat at all times, numerous problems with the network and servers, and a log-in mechanism that requires your browser (eating up even more resources). But worse than all those are the damaged physics models (the tanks feel like they are made of styrofoam) and the fact that real-life tactics don't work while gamey tactics do work.

Having said all that, this game still has promise. I'd keep an eye on it, and if they are still in business in a year or two, it might be worth another look.

Summary: Don't Judge it yet......
Review: Yes, it does have problems. Yes, it may not work perfectly. Yes, you do need a good computer. But keep in mind a few points.

1.) This game has IMMENSE potential but can only live up to that with your input and help. I.E. (play the game).
2.) They have improved alot on it. In terms of fixing a game which is still running, its immprovement is tremendous.
3.) For all those ppl out there who are trying to run the good new games on bad, old machines, WHAT THE HECK WERE YOU EXPECTING!? That these huge multi billion dollar corparations would comform for your benefit so that the piece of (...) you have in the kitchen can run anything and everything!? NO! AND EXCUSE BLITZKRIEG FOR PUSHING THE ENVELOPE A LITTLE!

When all is said and done, Blitzkrieg, along with its add-ons, could possibly create a new genre of computer games. A genre where entire battles are fought out online, while you drink your Diet Coke. Kill a charater playing in China and have enough time left over to meet some friends for dinner. Mabye we should give this game a chance. It might end up beinginng a good idea.
