Summary: good game
Review: I am not too much of a sim fan but this game is really good. The graphics are beautiful on the higher settings (machine gun shells spill from under your fuselage, vapor trails from wingtips at high altitude, the clouds are amazing, starry night skies etc..) and the many choices of viewpoints are cool as well as very helpful. I am not giving it 5 stars because of the annoyingly LONG and BORING flights to and from the target areas. I know this is a realism thing but it really hurts the gameplay. I have put the game on 8x speed, gone and get something to eat, and come back after five minutes and I'm still not there! Otherwise, this is a must have for all you simmers. Real super fun.

Summary: Fly me a river!
Review: This game has been in my collection for quite some time now. I have recently ordered another copy from amazon after giving my two cents to a colleague and getting him hooked. Mildly put, IL-2 is and should be the definition you get when you look up "flight sim" in your dictionary. IL-2 captures the feeling of WWII aerial combat seen through the eyes of German or Russian pilots in campaigns designed from getting you into the air to getting you to shoot down everything in the air...and then some. Gameplay is solid and the controls, even though a bit overwhelming at first, are surprisingly easy to learn. Graphically, the game is stunning. You'll swear you're flying in WWII alongside your fellow countrymen, curse at enemy AA fire and even wipe your monitor during those hard to see night missions through rain, lightning and fog. The few levels included are extremely large, and seem never ending. You'll fly missions where it will take you 15 or more minutes just to reach your destination. Soaring over towns, rivers and even over a fleet of ships bent on making the water your very own grave, you'll gasp at the scenery and begin to appreciate the game's minor details. The AI is so aggressive at higher levels that you'll be checking your 'six frantically every 2 seconds trying to shake that fighter off your tail. Newcomers need not worry, IL-2 lets you customize the game to your heart's content. You can opt to turn off limited ammunition, damage, takeoffs and landings, and much more in an effort to make anyone's entry into the world of flight sims a painless journey. A beefy computer with a good 3d card is recommended if you want the game to run smoothly and look anything like it does on the back of the box. Investing in a joystick, if you haven't already done so would be a good idea. What are you waiting for? Fire up that engine and meet your doom in the skies.

Summary: Hands Down
Review: This is the best flight sim you could buy(Except for IL-2 Forgotten Battles), I run Win XP with a GeForce 4 video card and have had no problems. I like others just stared in awe at the graphics when I first loaded the game. The amount of detail just cant be found in any other sim. If you are going to get 1 Flight sim this is the one to get. Unless you want 2 then get its sister game IL-2 Forgotten battles and fly even more planes.

Summary: Best WWII simulation game
Review: This is arguably the best WWII flight simulation game I've experienced so far, and it is much better than MicroSoft flight simulation series or any other games you can find. Excellent graphic quality. I highly recommend it.

Summary: Great flight sim, very good game
Review: As a flight sim I think IL-2 is superb. Very realistic flight model, excellent virtual cockpit, great sounds. The only things lacking are the small nuances such as prop pitch settings or fuel mixture adjustment, but few people use those anyway. As a game I would say it's good. There are only a couple campaigns. The briefings are pretty dull, and there is little sense of what is going on in the world or any connection between missions. But the graphics are just awesome, better than any other flight sim by far. Where else can you see individual soldiers jumping out of their lorry and running for their lives as you blast it to bits with your 23mm cannon?

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: IL-2 A well -worth -it gaming experience
Review: IL-2 Sturmovik is the best flight sim out there today, with everything putting all other sims to shame(even the excellent CFS2.)
Pros: great AI
excellent graphics
many planes to fly
and many other pros that makes this game a great buy.
Cons: Very Few, but to be fair, it is a little hard on those of us who can't or won't sit at our computers for an hour just waiting for something to happen. Also, when you fail a mission, you have to fly it it over. Very unrealistic in radio transmissions, as you don't hear yourself transmit, but on multiplayer you can type in messages and transmit them. The worst glitch is that those of us without high-end systems should hold off until their next upgrade. I reccomend 214-512 Megabytes and a Pentium IV woldn't hurt either.

Overall Rating: A five for sure. The graphical glitches don't cause the player to notice other bad parts, they actually remind one of aviation art.

Summary: As good as they get
Review: I've owned all of the better flight simulators, and IL 2 Sturmovik is my favorite! The realism is awesome as is the number of views (of the aircraft, inside and out) The aircraft that were difficult to fly in real life (MEl09 amongst others)are difficult in IL 2. Flying as a rear gunner is an excellent feature. The choice of weather is excellent. I particulary like hiding in the gorgeous clouds and pouncing on the enemy!
There isn't a competitor around that shows the realism of 6 or eight machine guns going off as IL 2 does. If you dial in flack and fly through it, you can hear the flack strike your plane and look out of the canopy and see large, jagged holes in the wings and body. Engine hits cover the front windows with oil. Pilots bailing out look real, as do the parachutes. When I crash, the pilot jumps out of the plane if he's still alive and runs about 30 yards and dives to the ground. How much more realistic can it get? The planes are detailed beautifly and the sound of the ME 190 wide open with the boost kicked in is music to one ears!
