Rating: Summary: Playable on a P-III 600 with 64MB of RAM and a TNT? PLEEZE!! Review: Overall, UT2k3 is a good cool game but isn't as good as the original. And isn't the fps on the market to grace either. I downloaded an installed the demo, the engine was great, and produced beatiful 3-D graphics and 3-D sound(if you have a HW T & L enabled card such as the original GeForce or Radeon or better) quality, but overall wans't sure what do think about it. The demo offered TOO LITTLE overall. So I decided to purchase the actaul game and patch it up to version 2199. Now I have three computers, one is low-end, one is mid-range, and the other is below low-end The Below Low-End is: Windows 98 1rst edition Intel Pentium III-600MHZ clock-speed 64MB of SDRAM NVIDIA RIVA TNT 16mb Onboard audio DirectX8.1b Two 18gb hds 56k modem and moreThe Second low-end one is: Windows 2000 Pro Intel Pentium III-800MHZ, overclockable to 1.0ghz clock-speed max two sticks of 128MB of PC133 SDR SDRAM Sound Blaster Live! Value 1024v digital sound card NVIDIA GeForce 256 32mb DirectX8.1 Two 30GB HDS ISDN And more That is my low end system. Here is my mid-range computer: Windows XP Home Edition Intel Pentium 4-1.6GHZ clock speed. 2.0GHZ clock speed max. 256 MB of PC2700 DDR SDRAM NVIDIA GeForce 4 ti4200 64mb Sound Blaster Audigy(white box) DirectX9 Two 80GB HDS ADSL Yahoo SBC 10.0 MBPS internet connection And more On my below low end system, the game wasn't playable. Even at the lowest settings, it was too slow, too frequently crashed and page swapp cached to the hd, and didn't look right, even with the latest drivers. And was NOT playable online-got too much lagg, poor ping, and too much pl. I don't know how the game is playable on a machine like that like it SAYS in the readme.txt Bunch of liers at digital extremes/epic games. It ran on my low end system, and was playable. Playable, but not great or good. The game looked great though, and i recieved the proper frame rates. I got some occasional page cache swapping. It ran at a playable frame rate, some times crashed. It was some what playable online. Didn't get any PL tho. It was OK. On my mid-range system, it ran fine. It ran quite smooth, looked even better, rareley cache dto the hd, and almost never crashed. Didn't get any lagg or pl when playing online. Even at a 1024x768 resolution at high details, the game runs basically fine on my mid-range system. Anyway, the game features new characters, redone old ones, new weapons, redone old ones, new and redone old arenas, completeley new smooth network code(at times even on a 56kmodem), one new game type(bombing run), and four new game types overall. New commands in the voice menu. ETC. Overall UT2003 is decent for a normal gamer, needs to improve for a SP gamer, and is great for a hardcore-mp gamer. Just come prepared with a mid-range system or higher to enjoy the game itself. Recieving the deserving proper frame rates and visuals at high resolutions and smooth and playable frame rates with high polygon counts and vast 3-D details and environments and a variety of options and new features and smooth network code is what presents UT2k3 as an absoluteley splendid shooter on the market. Trust me, the game will appreciate you as much as you will appreciate it if you have a mid-ranged system or higher. It's worth the price*.
Rating: Summary: Great game, but lacking in some areas Review: Unreal Tournament 2003 is a fast-paced FPS and is loosely a sequel to the original that belonds to the 'Break things and kill people' genre. All in all, it's a good game, but I was disappointed about a few things. For one, 'Assault' has been removed. Assault was my favorite game mode. Why they took it out, I don't know, but I hope it's put back in some form. A few of my old favorite weapons are gone. I was very disappointed that- of all things- the Defenders were removed! Even as a starting weapon, double Defenders were decent sidearms. Running around with akimbo pistols was just so cool, and the new Assault Rifle loses some of that 'coolness' factor. After all, breaking stuff and killing people- and looking cool while doing it- is one of the big factors of these games, right? I also miss the old sniper rifle. I can't get the hang of the lightning gun... maybe I just really, really stink. :) The old sniper was a lot easier to get used to, I think. Plus, it's a lot easier to snipe when your position isn't given away by a huge freakin' beam of electricity. :D (Yeah yeah, pros and cons to a weapon, I know.) Let's just say it's less newbie-friendly- this is a good thing or a bad thing, depending on how you look at it. To cap off the negative points, Bombing Run- while a breath of fresh air to the category- is not quite...polished. I'm not sure what is really wrong with it- it's a creative idea, but not as well executed as it could be. Now to stop ranting. :) It's a beautiful game thats been improved in many ways, but remains true to the original with the Unreal Tournament flair. UT2k3 is just as addicting as the original. Everyone keeps complaining about the announcer, but I don't see the problem- I leave him on. So if you enjoy fast-paced action pitting a bunch of players against each other to see who can rack up the highest body count, (exhale-inhale) I would say UT2k3 is a staple in any serious gamer's collection. There are a lot of differing opinions about it- I'd say just check it out for yourself, it might be your 'thing' and it might not.
Rating: Summary: Crap with nice graphics Review: The graphics were good, but the rest is [bad]. It took about a half hour till I was bored with this. Here is what happens: 1. spawn 2. run around like a chicken without a head 3. shoot at anything that moves ( including teammates ) 4. pick up some guns 5. shoot at anything that moves ( including teammates ) 6. run around like a chicken without a head 7. shoot at anything that moves ( including teammates ). Occassionally get killed, then start at step one. Repeat ad nauseum.
Rating: Summary: The Coolest Game Out There Review: I just got this game demo from a magazine, and I did not know what to except of this. So i Installed it and it was the coolest game I have evered played. I want it but I do not have the money. I am saving up. This is what I am getting at: If you have 40 dollars and you are looking for a good computer game get it. Period!
Rating: Summary: Lacking the Unreal Challenge Review: Although the Graphics in Unreal Tournament 2003 are excellent the game lacked the one on one challenge I experienced with the orginal Unreal Tournament. Here you can only run and shoot, no strategy needed, no making a stand with a snipper riffle.
Rating: Summary: If you can run it. Review: This game looks great, if you can run it. If you don't have a new pc with a smokin' video card, save your money. If you can't run the graphics on a high setting your missing alot. I would love to play this game now that I own it but don't want to purchase a new pc to do it. Be warned !
Rating: Summary: Great. Review: I'll let you know right away that this game is basically the same as the original Unreal Tournament. However, there have been updates in every area. The graphics are spectacular now, and the player skins are extremely detailed (I especially like the Egyptian skins). Can't wait for new maps and mods to come out. Speaking of new maps, the game still comes with the editor, and it's improved immensely as well, with more buttons and options than you can shake a flak cannon at. Map makers should be very happy with the new Editor.

Rating: Summary: Just as addictive as the original Review: If you are a fan of first person shooters this is the game for you. Unreal Tournament 2003 is set up more like a sporting event than the traditional mission based structure. First and foremost, make sure your system can handle this game and you have a fast enough internet connection. I would recommend a P4 2.0GHz/AMD XP 2100 or greater speed CPU, 512 megs of RAM and a Geforce 4 or better video card for optimal performance. Also you should use a DSL/Cable or greater speed connection. This game is broken up into 4 different categories. Traditional deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Double Domination, and Bombing Run. Of all of the game types, I think Bombing Run is the best. It's basically soccer where two teams play against each other and there is a ball (bomb) in the middle. The object is to put the bomb in the opponent's goal. If you run it through the goal you get 7 points, if you shoot it in the goal you get 3 points. The game that reaches 21 first wins the match. While holding the bomb you can't use any weapons which calls for your teammates to help support you while you run towards the enemy goal. UT2003 comes with a full level editor tool, the exact same tool the developers of the game used in designing and building everything. This means that the MOD (modification) community can thrive, and does thrive, in creating new things for the game, be it levels/mutators/or character models. Currently there are thousands of user created maps out there on the internet, some of them quite well designed. UT2003 is a very fast paced game. If you want realism then I would suggest looking somewhere else, however if you want a fast and fun arcade style game then this is it. Graphically there is no equal to this game right now (Doom 3 will be out in July however!) The 'rag doll' physics of the character models is impressive as well. The character models will actually interact with their environment. For example, if they fall on some stairs the body will be manipulated so that each stair bump will move a body part in the right way. Finally the learning curve for this game is challenging, and that is a good thing. Throughout various maps there are small tablets called adrenaline that you can collect. You are also awarded adrenaline by fragging an opponent, running through a goal, etc. When it reaches 100 you can do a special combination, such as double your speed for a short time, or become invisible. This can really change the tactics of the team gameplay. In closing, I highly recommend this game for anyone that is a fan of first person shooters. I didn't go into the other modes, but I'm sure if you know FPS games you have played something similar (especially DM and CTF).
Rating: Summary: boring and crappy rolled into one. Review: After spending 49.99 on this game, hoping it would be at least a shadow of Unreal Tournament, I was so dissapointed. The amount of disk space it requires is ungodly (3 gig) and the system requirments are unforgiven. Think your 1.4 ghz is fast enough for this pos? Maybe with everything set on low detail. The makers focused on flash and forgot about content. All the really cool weapons are gone, or replaced with what the makers say are improvements. Forget your sniper rifles at home kids, they're not here. The only good thing that came out of this, is I started playing UT more than ever, I only paid 10 dollars for that on the shelf. If you have to buy one crappy game a year, make it this one and get it over with. This game is going to rely on mods to keep it alive. (think half-life)
