Rating: Summary: Same old stuff Review: This game is good if you have never played the series before. It is the same as the other Unreal games. The map editor is very over rated. If you have a degree in engineering and math you might be able to draw a box. If not, dont plan on having any fun making your own maps. I have a P4 2.4 GHZ, 64Mb DDR graphics card and 512 DDR Ram and this still plays very slow. It has to be the game not the pc. Wait for the price to drop.
Rating: Summary: _ Review: ive got all the games serious sam 2 jedi knight 2 medal of honor return to castle wolfenstein quake 3 unreal tournament tactical ops urban terror and this game is unlike any of them. it reaches new hights with its superior graphics engine, one of the most satisfying aspects of this game is that when you kill someone and their body flys away from you and rolls until they are slumped over in a corner somewhere or laying accross a flight of stairs. the weapons are mostly the same as the original unreal tournament. the models/skins are ok because there are only about 12 normal-looking people, the rest are egyptians (yes, egyptians), aliens, robots, and people that look like freak dead people. the maps are very nice looking albiet a bit big. as for sound, the music can never be as good as the original unreal tournament, which had the best music of any game ever; but the player taunting is very repetitive and gets annoying quickly. for graphics, it is a very demanding game, and i play 1152x864x32, all detail options checked and detail types on high, and i get about average 40-50 fps. all in all, this is a very good game. i recommend you check out the demo first to see how you like it.
Rating: Summary: The new Unreal falls far short of the old one Review: Boring game play and lack of fighting detail. Weapons stink compared to the old Unreal Tornament. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY LIKE ME. IF YOU LIKE THE OLDER VERSION STICK WITH IT. What in the world were the game designers thinking when they put this junk out to the gaming community???
Rating: Summary: Dissapointing... Review: This games boasts more of an engine than an actual game. I don't doubt the engine's capabilities, it does render gorgeous graphics and the polygon count on the models are very impressive. But it would seem to me that the developers spent more time on the engine development than on the gameplay design. It has not changed much from the original Unreal Tournamnent and I found the gameplay to be repetitive and monotonous. The only "breath-of-fresh-air" in this game is "Bombing Run", but it still won't improve my overall impression of this game. In a nutshell, this game is BORING.
Rating: Summary: A Worthy FPS! Review: I would reccomend this game to anybody who is a fan of arena style first person shooters like Quake. If you are someone who likes mission based first person shooters, then I would stay away from this one and get yourself a copy of Medal of Honor or Soldier of Fortune. This is a great game if you like to play online against other players or face off in a "Gladiator" type tournament against computer controlled players. The graphics are fantastic (If you have a top range ATI or nvidia card). The sound is good, and the overall mechanics are what you would expect from UT. Overall: If this is something you want to try first, get a used copy of Quake 2 or Unreal Tournament 2 for cheap doe, try it out, and if you like the style of play, GET THE GAME!
Rating: Summary: What happened? Review: I have played the original UT for over three years now, and you know what? I still play it more than this new UT 2003. Sure, the graphics are fabulous, it's fast, the sounds are great and the control is smooth. What's wrong then? Well, for starters, the weapons stink. Gone is the sniper rifle, replaced by the unusable lightning gun, the mini-gun is all but useless, and the rocket/flak weapons are shadows of their former selves. My biggest problem with this game are the levels... The first UT had a great variety of immersive, moody levels, and no two felt alike. All the levels in UT 2003 feel like the same "techno-grunge" industrial warehouse done with different textures. Even the outdoor levels disappoint. Moreover, the game modes stink: gone is fan favorite assault, replaced by the ridiculously stupid and frustrating bombing run. Gone are other game modes: last man standing, etc. As a result, the game feels like an updated version of Quake III, with its identical levels and lighting fast gameplay.
Rating: Summary: WOW!!! Review: This has got to be the most fun game I have played yet. I'm usually a rail gun team deathmatch kind of guy, so i can't really comment on bombing run or ctf, but deathmatch has outstanding graphics and gameplay. I actually called in sick to work the day after I got this game so i could stay home and play all day.
Rating: Summary: Repulsive... Review: This game is a cross between "Pro" wrestling, and an online thug trainer. It's packed with cursing voices, tinged with an ebonic accent, blood, and gender confused female figures. It plays like the headlines..."Semi-literate, afri-cultural hooligans shoot each other.." Just what America needs.. Avoid at all costs
Rating: Summary: Un-real Tournament, how UNreal. Review: This game is really good. I haven't played yet, though it looks quite GOOD! The game has the best mutiplayer service ever! If you like playing online(of course it's free), just go to the store and buy this game. You can't play multi? Then I don't recommend you to buy this game. The game is pretty much the same to the original so you can stick to the old one. Thanks.
Rating: Summary: UT 2003 Review: What a controversial release! Some people love it; others hate it. I'm somewhere in the middle. As someone who prefers actual adventures to pure games, I'm probably not the prime target audience for something like this. I miss the puzzles, and I miss the creatures. Strange as it sounds, constant action does get monotonous after awhile. The prematurely titled Unreal Tournament 2003 builds upon the original and as it comes a couple years later, it's only logical that the technology will have improved. Graphics are stunning. Physics behaves better (maneuvering in low-gravity scenarios is *much* more manageable.) There are a lot of little design tweaks and touches here and there. The scenery is gorgeous; it's almost sad that you never have time to really admire it. Returning game styles are Deathmatch, Domination (each team must struggle to control separate "power points"), and Capture the Flag, while the Assault game from the first UT has been replaced by something called Bombing Run, which is a bit like football...with guns. Some of the weapons have changed. I was disappointed to see that the ripper -- easily the most fun, not to mention vicious, weapon in the previous game -- has been deleted, while the ridiculous biorifle remains. (Does anyone actually use that except as a last resort? Even the low-level machine gun is better.) There's also a rather weak lightning gun, but on the other hand a really nice kind of pulse rifle has been added. The flak cannon seems more effective in this game. The biggest disappointment about UT 2003 is that it seems, well, small. I finished the game pretty quickly. Granted, I played on novice level, but I'm sure better players than I can finish on higher skill levels in about the same amount of time. Although the final round was tough, it didn't carry any impact; in fact, I didn't even realise it *was* the final round. It's all rather anticlimactic. There isn't even any rewarding animation once you've finished. Perhaps UT 2003 is better thought of as an update. It's a fun game, and it will help tide most of us over until the next Unreal, but it doesn't feel particularly significant on its own.
