Summary: for anyone interested in tom clancy books
Review: If you have ever played a game like command and conquer or starcraft and then dreamed of a strategy game based on modern technology, then this is the game for you. Although it may appear to be only a command and conquer clone from the box, it is in fact incredibly realistic. It essentially matches 1980's U.S. technology against 1980's Soviet technology, and is incredibly accurate, down to the fuel drum found on the back of a Soviet t-72 tank. the IFV, M2 Bradley, M1A1, F16, 15, 14, 18, B - 1, Tu - 160, A - 6, Su -25, Mig - 23, Kuznetsov Class aircraft carrier, are among the dozens of actual historical military untis to appear in the game. Ticonderoga class cruisers launch towmahawk cruise missiles from miles out at sea, even accurately portraying the launch sequence. The game is also very simple to play and easy to learn, but that does not make it a simple game at all. For anyone who has any type of interest in books such as red storm rising by tom clancy, or arc light by eric l. harry, this is a game that you would thoroughly enjoy. the only problem is playing to much of it!

Summary: worth the $
Review: If you like C&C, then this games is for you. Real units w/real limits and a real complexity if you try combined arms ops. Chilling intro given the events since 9-11. A virtual way to smash terrorists.

Summary: Probably not what you think
Review: If you think this is a game that even remotely resembles 'Real War', spend your money on something else...even a book would be better than this. How they can actually say that this is based on the official 'Joint Chiefs of Staff' training games is beyond me. If our military uses anything even vaguely similar to this for training exercises, we are in BIG trouble.

However, if you have some extra money to spend and don't mind blowing it on an RTS that is only somewhat decent then Real War might be a game you'll be interested in. There are severe issues that need to be addressed with the game, including AI and balance issues. If you can overlook these issues and still want a game that has units from the real world in it, then go ahead and spend the cash.

To be honest, there are plenty of other games, RTS and wargames, that offer so much more than what this game is advertised as. It's just unfortunate that they can actually advertise this game to be exactly what it is not. Just viewed as just an RTS game, this one isn't even a good one.

Summary: VERY disappointing
Review: Im not going to even get into detail about this game. I thought it was very disappointing. The only thing I liked about it was that the infantry and vehicles were all real and the game setup, when you build a base its nothing like red alert for example. I think you can get a game 5 times as better for the same amount of your hard earned money.

Review: Played at friends and it rocks. Exactly like age of empires just in the future

Summary: AN OUTSTANDING GAME!
Review: PROS: 1-The game has excellent movies before the game and before the missions. They are a real plus for those who care about that kind of thing.

2- The way you earn money is MUCH better than that in the Command and Conquer series. You don not have to waste time harvesting stupid minerals. Helicopters fly in and bring supplies which you use to build buildings and units.

3-The buildings look very realistic and have excellent details. they are placed on the map much easier than on C&C. There are no little boxes telling you where to put it.

4-The units are very cool and have excellent details as well. Every unit has an opposing unit specificly designed to combat that unit which makes for a unique balance in the game(unlike in other RTS games I have).

5-The graphics on the map are simply AMAZING. The details, quality, realism of the map just blows Red Alert 2 out of the water. You have to see the graphics to believe them.

6-The gameplay interface is well-designed and extremely easy to use. You can fight a battle without scrolling at all, literally. The only time I ever scroll around is to admire the map.

7-The variety of units and buildings you have access to is awesome. There are so many more great things I could mention about this game but I'd go on forever.

CONS: 1-When you move units through your base, they sometimes tend to get stuck and you need to carefully manuveur them out, but no biggie(to me anyway).

2-The game can sometimes last for a long time which can get on your nerves, but again, nothing huge.

3-You can't create your own maps directly on the game for skirmish purposes. But I'm sure that some program will be availible for download that allows you to do that.

CONCLUSION: This game is a solid game that will have you glued to the screen for a great amount of time. The fun level is very high especially with all the special unit characteristics, such as guerrilla warfare with US Army Rangers(my favorite). If you like RTS games, or all military games for that matter, get this game it is well worth the money.

Summary: My two cents worth
Review: Real War is a good game but has a few bugs to work out. Tanks and people get stuck and sometimes go to the end of the map before going where you tell them. Earning money is a plus in the game instead of harvesting spice or whatever you have a supply chopper supply you with money. Buildings have very good detail but hard to place and some building have to go next to another. You have a limited # of units you can build. When the games get fixed will be a great game but it looks like the developers were in a hurry to get out the product before testing it and maybe trying to beat Command and Conquer's Generals which is suppost to be excellent. Hope this was helpful. IF you get this game make sure to update the game to work better.

Summary: So much potential...
Review: Real War is a great idea... I've never gotten into most other RTS because the units are always too faniciful or sci-fi... but RW gives you modern American units like the A-10 Warthog, F-117 Stealth Fighter, the MA1 Abrahms main battle tank, the Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier, the Seawolf Class Submarine, Army Rangers, Navy Seals, and tactical nukes against real world foreign units like the Eurofighter fighter-bomber, the Kilo Class Diesel-Electric Sub, the T-80 Soviet Tank, the Hind Attack Chopper, guerilla and terrorists troops, and SCUD missles loaded with nerve gas. This alone makes the game something new although the graphics, sound, and gameplay are pretty far behind the C&C and other similiar series of games.

Summary: My Mother could design a better game!
Review: Real War is a really poor excuse for a RTS, its not realistic, yes it has weapons platforms right out of today's military. However the game play is sub-par, and boring. You are better off spending your money elsewhere.
