Summary: A bizarre, twisted, and wonderful experience.
Review: This is not so much a game as an interactive horror story. It unfolds like a Clive Barker tale except with more humor. If you find chatting with kids with nightmarish deformities and walking on surfaces made of flesh your odd cup of tea, then you are in for a treat. I loved it, and introduced it to many of my friends. I didn't find it scary, but horrific, imaginative, and intriguing, filled with atmosphere through its carefully wrought graphics and sound. Especially atmospheric are the music and sound effects. It is a game like The Longest Journey in which you don't want the journey to end. --Incidently I've recently reinstalled my 4-year-old Sanitarium on Windows XP Pro (with SP1) and it seemed to work fine. The Level 2 bug patch (sanipatch1.exe) is still available on the net.

Summary: XP users, there is a way...
Review: I've run this on my XP, and have of course dealt with numerous crashes. I've found a way to proceed, none the less. As you proceed, if your system works with it at all, keep saving the game. When it crashes, start a new game and intentionally crash it in the Tower Cells, at the VCR. Then, reopen your saved game and go on. You'll have to do this a LOT, but it's gotten me as far as the Lost Village (toward the end). Unfortunately, am now stuck there. If I figure this out, I'll let you know.

Summary: Fun game, not sure it's worthy of some of the crazy prices
Review: Fun game, not sure it's worthy of some of the crazy prices it gets on Amazon though. Story is fun, creepy really. Not super difficult puzzles at all so if you fancy yourself "above the curve" (not the bell, that is) and if storylines don't grab you, forget this one. I recommend turning out all the lights and turning up your volume. Pros:
1. pretty good graphics
2. storyline is creepy
3. it's not too short like so many games
4. switches characters to unravel the plot

1. had a few issues with Win98 (not sure about XP)

Summary: I'd give zero stars if I could
Review: I have to echo what other frustrated XP users have said - even though the package says it works with XP, it clearly doesn't. Too bad...looked like a fun game.

Summary: Pretty twisted!
Review: I thought it was an interesting, fun game. The only thing is that it only took me a few days to complete. Some puzzles are very simple, others are almost impossible, and I think I got by those with pure luck. The story line is very interesting and fun to try and figure out.

Summary: Good for beginners
Review: Sanitarium is not a bad game considering it was written in 1997. Most of the puzzles, however, are a bit too predictable for experienced adventure gamers...everything you need is at any given location. The only real difficulty with any of the puzzles is not being able to find a specific item, but with any perseverence, you eventually find it. Still, it's a good start for those just starting into the realm of adventure games...

Summary: Fun Game. Graphics and puzzles not as good as MYST
Review: Overall a fun game. I felt the graphics were not very good and the puzzles were fairly easy. Still it was enjoyable and captured my attention enough to keep going. I finished in two days and now I'm looking for another game to play. Any suggestions would be great.

Summary: Puzzle your way through a man's gone Memories
Review: Just plain awesome. Top 5 material. Game-great! Voices-not sooo great. But it doesnt make you not want to play anymore. I have made it to Chapter 8 so far an am stuck on one of the puzzles. GRRRR. But it still keeps me a playin' Go buy it if you love a good story to unpuzzle. If not...go die then.

Summary: gave me freaky dreams!
Review: Loved this game very much for the warped story. Puzzles were a bit too easy but so many things made up for that. Definitely basing 5 stars on everything but the puzzles.

Summary: DOES NOT WORK ON WIN XP!
Review: You can't give it zero star so I am stuck with giving it one... Oh well, the box is kinda nice. But Windows XP users, beware: this game will NOT work on your machine despite what it claims on the box. At best, you MIGHT be able to play for a short while before the fatal crash. I went as far as playing it for 10 seconds. My verdict, useless piece of crap! This company gets on my black list for lying about its product
