Summary: My God, the TEDIUM...
Review: Short and simple, folks: It's a nice experiment- a nice buncha folks tossing their creative effluvia into the gaming market, but it just doesn't cut the mustard... Far from being the ultimate "god game", it's a standard RTS pain-in-the arse, with your good guys always wailing for stuff you cannot provide, and "bad-guy" vilages that you have to provide these same commidities to, in order to impress, and in turn, make "good villages". The documentation is almost comically inept and insufficient, the system requirements for optimal play are absurd (they say they created the game on 800 MHZ comps, but I SERIOUSLY doubt it), and in the end, you can't help but feel let down.

It's a GREAT step in the right direction, but there are better games out today that make use of the full 3d format, and are far more entertaining and system-friendly.

Buy it if you want a piece of gaming history- a relic- a laughable trinket that was left by the wayside during a pivotal epoch in game development. On the other hand, if you want something FUN, there are dozens of titles that will fulfill your needs, and not leave your system frozen, and your mind numb with boredom.

Innovation will only carry you so far, Peter M... Ya gotta DO something with it...

Summary: Black and White Review
Review: This is almost the worst game I have played. It's great until about 2 weeks of playing it then it gets old. There are some quests impossible to complete. I have found a ton of glitches and im only on the 3 stage of the game.

Summary: Slow, Short, and Tedious
Review: This is the most over rated game ever. It has a great idea, but the story line is horrible (there barely is one), the controls are awkward, the gameplay is boring, and the game is extremly short. The only reason I gave this game 2 stars is because the graphics are amazing, but thats about the extent of the good in this game.

Summary: READ THIS IF YOUR GOING TO GET THIS GAME!
Review: Alright, let me start off this way, i bought this game and it wouldn't run. So I called technical support and they said it wouldn't run on my computer unless I got a new graphics card. If you buy this game make sure you have a graphic card with more than 8 mb of memory. If not you will have to buy one, or return it.

I gave it five stars because it sounds like such a fun game and still want to play it. I want to so much that I'm going to buy a new video card for it.

Anyway, this game looks good, if you really want it get it...if you have a good enough video card. It is probably a great game.

Summary: An ok game...
Review: I like the game, my point why I gave it 4 stars it can become very boring meeting all the villagers demands, then again, WHO said you HAD to meet them? One part in the game that was quite funny was when I had a non-believer in me, first I trashed his house then I tossed him to a galaxy far far away....=)

Summary: Black and Boring
Review: This game has wonderful sound, beautiful vibrant colors, but thats about it. In my opinion, the game is just too slow in developing. Your "Creature" is a child-like being that you train to be either good or evil, which becomes an extension of you. Good concept, but very tiring after awhile. The game becomes too centered on feeding your people, giving them wood to build, keeping your "creature" in line- over and over, again and again. This game gets to repedative to quick. I give it two stars for graphics and sound but thats about it. 0 stars for storyline and replay-ability.

Summary: Black & White now has been patched and is even better
Review: Black & White is one of the most enjoyable games I have run across in a long time. I used to work for a gaming company and tested pc games for weeks on end. Black & White is truly innovative and well worth the money. I would have said that before the patch release, as it crashed frequetly, but now that it works properly it's great.

The graphics are absolutely beautiful and it's very difficult to get tired of the villagers. A lot of time was spent making sure that this game never gets boring. Even better, while you may complete the game within a few short weeks, the challenge won't stop as you can always go online and play against others.

You can be as good or evil as you want. You have the ability to use a Creature to do your bidding. Train your creature to be evil or good, or just plain neutrally lazy, it's up to you. However, training your creature to help you either conquer your enemies, or watch over your villagers will allow you to contrate more on finishing the quests rather than cleaning up after your creature, so don't leave him parked all the time!

The manual covers only the very basics of how to play the game. It's rather impossible to cover more without spoiling the game for the user as there are so many different playing styles you can use. Take the time to go to the official site and read the stories on the bulletin boards if you want to know what successes other folks are having.

Summary: black an...d.......zzzzzzz.zzzzzzzzzz.....zzzzzzzz
Review: this is one of the most overrated piles of tripe ive ever played

the graphics are pretty but you'll need a pretty hefty card and processor to get the most out of them. my voodoo3 450mhz struggled almost constantly

the gamneplay, although hyped up something massive is dull at best. it just boils down to the people want wood so put some trees in the store. the people want food so put some food in the store. the other god wants you to get more land, put food and wood in another village's store. etc...

sound is good but it doesnt reallt matter considering the rest of the game is so dull

the creatures although made to seem like real children are boring and essentially boils down to ape picks up man, god slaps ape, ape goes "ooh", ape picks up another man. etc... i suppose eventually the ape will learn not to pick up the man but you'll have flogged this game by then.

my rating: zip

maybe 4/5 if you coiuld use the cd as a coaster maybe

Summary: Micromanagement instead of Gameplay
Review: I give this game a score of 5 stars for its ingenuity. I can't give it a lower score because I couldn't have conceived of such a splendid idea, yet I"d rather spend my time playing a game instead of living in one. Black and White is a hassle. It is nagging. It is like having too many children, and you know what happens when you have too many. You have to throw fireballs at them and toss boulders, but that doesn't seem to qualm their voices. I'm a patient man, but I"m not mad. I"m not eager to be anxious about teaching someone anything. I"m hardly learned myself. What could I possibly teach a tiger or a bunch of quebbling souls? I bought the game. But I never play it. It just wasn't fun, but it is a masterpiece.
