Summary: Should be called WOOD & FOOD instead!
Review: Black & White has its good points and its bad points, but I'm afraid I must insist that the bad outweighs the good in this game. First of all, although Peter Molyneux has apologized, there is no excuse for the amount of bugs in this game, and while there is a patch available, it doesn't fix everything. Sure, the visual aspects of the game are superb, but so what? If the game crashes on you constantly, how pretty it looks isn't going to make you any less annoyed.
Playing through the story mode completely, it's obvious to me that this game wasn't even finished before it was relased, and that's just insulting. For instance, there is a rival god named Lethys who kidnaps your creature and casually strolls off to another island through a vortex (funny how these other gods can create vortexes to escape through, but you can't). Supposedly when you're close to destroying him, he is supposed to offer his surrender. But oddly, sometimes you have to completely take over the entire land before he will say anything, but by then it's too late since no one believes in him anymore and he is wiped out from existence. So much for accepting his offer. There was another time when I totally trashed his last village AND his temple, and he never once pleaded with me. When I entered the next land, my good conscience told me I did the right thing by letting him live, even though I completely wiped him off the face of eden! Did anybody play-test this damn game? Somehow I doubt it.
Anyway, that's only the half of it. You're forced to take on a creature of less than impressive intellectual capacity. The creature AI in Black & White is supposed to be one of the best features of the game, and sadly that is true. Unfortunately, you're better off with a lobotomized chihuahua. Train your creature for days, literally, babysitting and hand-feeding him. You will still be in the dark in regards to what he's thinking. Apparently this has a purpose, because chances are he's not thinking very much of anything, except eat->sleep->poop. He can learn--being fair--to do anything that you can. But will he actually want to do what you teach him? Not likely. You can't kill him, so you're stuck with him. Eventually he is going to snap and start killing your villagers. Irritable bowel syndrome does that to a beast.
Obviously this game has jaded me. I've played it until nearly vomiting on my keyboard, trying to have a little faith in the hype. Sorry, but Black & White ...[stinks]. There is nothing much fun about it, and there's plenty of other games available that are fun. My advice is: don't risk your sanity or waste your money on Black & White.

Summary: Beautiful but...
Review: Rather hard to control your creature and while quite a bit of practice might help, it was annoying/difficult enough I lost interest in trying.

The graphics are INCREDIBLE and the game idea is fantastic. However, just moving around the game is quite a task. The tutorial in game is pretty long yet for such an involved game it's nowhere near long enough.

Summary: I don't see what all the hype is about
Review: This game is real cool at first. "They" say you can play it any way you want but it becomes clear real fast that there is a limit to what you can do. The game comes down to making miricals to extend your relm into an ememy gods relm. Just when you think your getting somewhere and your kind of having sim city style fun with your town--you are wisked away to start over. I got bored after a couple days and I didn't get very far.

Summary: The answer to all ur questions
Review: Hey everyone...here it is..B & W...one of the best sim i ever played..i read plenty of reviews, some are kind of hard on this game...of course if u buy a simulation but u dont want to do the stuff that ur supposed to do (give food, wood...) the don;t buy the game!! Tough if u play the "evil" god, u don't even have to get food..just let them die...ur creature will be happy, human are good food..
Or if u wanna play the "good" god, just play but don't complain...and i don't know how u do this but I try a game before buying it...
I don''t understand how people can buy the game without trying it and complain after ...just because a game has plenty of publicity doesn't mean it's a good one...don't let the society eat u alive for christ sakes...

Summary: Beat that!
Review: Free rotation, look at your sky or your feet, turn left, right, back and forth. Zoom in or press F3 to fully zoom out. Place bookmarks and fly among them like a kite. Or simply TAB to jump from one Village granary to the next one.

Yeah... beat that!
Internet weather, talk and online gaming...

Well... enough said... gotta go to play

Summary: Disappointing
Review: the idea was great, but the gameplay was terrible-- cool graphics, great characters, but it's not easy to control, and the concepts are kinda counter-intuitive. . .

Summary: Too many Hours Wasted
Review: Black & White, you'll either love it or hate it, there'll be no grays about it. All the cool graphics only serve to tax your computer and slow down the game. The game is fun for the first couple of levels. But once the novelty wears off, the game becomes aggravating. The game tries to be everything for everyone, but that never works. I could have done without the stupid, impossible-to-control animal god, made worst with the awkward mouse movements. I want to be God, not some pokemon trainer. For a superior god simulation game, get Tropico. The gameplay of Tropican villagers are far more interesting.

Summary: Almost a good game.
Review: The idea of this game was great. Even the execution of the game was good as far as graphics and quality of work. The problem is that the game is boring. You end up spending all of your time doing monotonous things while trying to train a creature who doesn't want to learn, and doesn't use what he has learned. I feel I wasted my money on this purchase.

Summary: Lets all be Honest with ourselves
Review: First of all let me begin by saying that anyone who has not played this game should not be saying that it is a five star game because the PACKAGE looks cool, or they THINK its gonna be good. (which was the case in several reviews).

As far as the actual game itself. I must admit i was very excited to get this game, because the fact was that the idea and the hype about the game were out outstanding, and appealed to me. Hence i got the game.

At first it sucks you in and is very fun to play moving around your island and being able to control everything down to the locations of flora. The game even tells you you can move the game along at your own pace, (not necessarliy true).

But very shortly you hit a wall. You realize that the game is more tedious than fun. My creature spent more time defecating in my village, than helping my villagers with their needs. Not to mention he was fond of munching on them even after the game had said he would do that sort of thing anymore.(because of my training, which obviously was grossly ineffective).

I spent more time throwing trees into the store then anything else. Not to mention the irritating villagers with their "we need food", "we need....: etc. i understand that this information needs to be communicated between a deity and his people, but in this game it gets repetitive and annoying.

I did give the game two stars though. Like some other reviewers i think the graphics are outstanding, the fact that you can zoom out to an arial shot of the island or down to the snout of a pig is very nice. Also the "defecating creature" was amusing the first time i witnessed it going behind a tree. but thats it, just the first time, not the the first 50 times.

Overall, my opinion, dont get this game. And if you dont trust my review to be accurate, save yourself some $$ and wait till the price goes down.

Summary: boooring
Review: After playing the first couple of hours, I started to like the game. Then I got addicted. But the game got very repetitive. I felt like just doing the same thing over and over again. And especially when the stupid creature gets captured again it just isn't fun anymore. Its the same stuff over and over again and it just takes long.
I found myself addicted: I felt like I HAD to play. But I found no joy in playing it. It was the same stuff over and over again. And then there were those annoying characters that sing or do other annoying things. And then you find out THEY JUST WONT DIE.
Damn this game is annoying.
Finally I got myself to uninstall. Damn that was a relief! Now I can play other games again.. games that are actually fun! I really felt like I was relieved of a huge burden.
