Rating: Summary: The best! Review: This is the best first person shooter/rpg that I've played since Half-Life. I'm only half way through the first level and already I can tell I'm not going to be away from my computer very much. Forget Diablo II, order this game now. The longer you wait the more risk you take of having the plot line spoiled for you.
Rating: Summary: Great Game, But.... Review: Let me say this right now: Deus Ex is one of the most replayable, most enjoyable games I have ever played. If you've played System Shock 2 (if you haven't, stop being a cheap person and spend the money, its a great game), the gameplay is almost exactly the same. You can interact with just about everything in the world, and use it as you want. The menus are a lot better, showing you where you experience is going, your goals, notes (automatically writing down any key codes), and other useful information. The best part of the entire game is how you can decide to go about solving the problems. Most times you can accomplish the goal in a variety of ways. For example, say that there is a door that you need to get into guarded by a robot and a security guard. You can: 1) Go in Doom-style with all guns firing 2) Find the security station and make the robot fire on the guard, and then shut down the robot. 3) Use a sniper rifle and kill the guard, then use an EMP grenade to kill the robot 4) Locate the back door to the facilty, avoiding all of the security Like I said above, the beauty of this game is that you can have different options playing it, which eventually lead to muliple endings. There are two complaints I have about the game. One is the system requirements. Unless you have a system purchased in the last year, you'll have to turn down the graphic quality and run at 640x480. The other thing is that since the game was made using the unreal engine, the graphics aren't that good unless you're running a Voodoo 3d card. However, this is one of those games that should be played by everyone who calls themselves a gamer. Graphics problems aside, this is one of the most enjoyable games to come out in a long time (Half-Life was the only other game I could think of that made me feel like I was playing something original). Go out and buy it!
Rating: Summary: Great game but do a little research Review: I picked up this game the day it came out and started playing it immediately. I found the story interesting and the game play was great. There are multiple ways and different strategies to proceed through the game so the game has the ability to conform to your own preferred style of playing. Be advised, however, the system requirements are steep and the graphics are less than stellar. I tried running it through Direct3D with all of the options on with my Athlon 650/GeForce system and found the frame rates to be frustratingly slow. I dug up an old VooDoo2 card out of the closet and put it in my system and tried running it through Glide. Much to my surprise, it ran great but the best I could get on that board was 600X800 dpi and 16-bit color. If you have a slower system and do not have the ability to run this game through Glide (3Dfx rendering API), you may want to wait and see if the patch fixes the D3D issues. Assuming you have the right equipment, the game is a lot of fun and a contender for "Game of the Year."
Rating: Summary: Game of the Year Review: I just bought this game and I can't stop playing it. It has the best story of a computer game that I had ever seen and there are just so many options you can't do them all. This game is a huge player for game of the year.
Rating: Summary: Excellent game! Review: Deus Ex is the best game of is genre(RPG/Adventure/Action) due to its non-linear and fabulous story, the futuristic-chaotic atmosphere that we feel and see, and the best of RPG in is pure state. Deus Ex is in the fund a true RPG, because we can carry out varied actions and several roles, for example I want to pass a runner with a surveillance camera and i have a good level in the Shooter caracteristics, I just take my rifle and cut into to pieces the camera, but if in the other hand i am good in the caracteristics of Hacker i can very well return to a terminal that was behind and deadactivate the system of the surveillances cameras, this way i can pass in the runner without calling the enemy's attention; this is one of the lot of possibilities of Deus Ex, each action that I make, alter's the world that surrounds me completely, this is one of the best caracteristics of the game together with the graphics a lá Vampire: The Masquerade, the incredible sonor ambient and the very well conceived chtas wiht the NPC that make us understand in the best way the world where we met. Deus Ex is really one of those games that glues us to the computer screen, making us forget that we have to eat, to sleep, go work, etc, and only remenber our hero, the equipement that we will buy next, what we will make next, etc. If you like RPG's Deus Ex is a MUST HAVE AT ALL COST!
Rating: Summary: Better than Diablo2 Review: I was pleasantly surprised by this game, I bought it on a whim and have actually been really addicted to it...racing home from work just to play it for another several hours...one of the greatest things about the game is the possibility of replaying it with different decisions made at the beginning of the game or along the way...this game could possibly satiate me for the next couple of months...It also is an excellent combination of cerebral stimulation as well as the utilization of cool weapons and destruction...who knows, could maybe be better than Diablo 2 when it finally comes out...definitely in the running for game of the year...
Rating: Summary: Game of the Year! Review: Without a doubt, this is the best game out for the PC so far this year! It is an early runner-up for GAME OF THE YEAR! I got it the day after it first came out and I LOVE it! This game is like combining The Matrix with System Shock 2, another great game from Eidos Interactive, and ALL THE ACTION YOU CAN THINK OF PLUS AN INCREDIBLE STORY-LINE WITH THE STATE-OF-THE-ART GRAPHICS AND AMAZING SOUND EFFECTS! I RECOMMEND THAT YOU PURCHASE THIS PRODUCT FOR IT IS THE BEST PC GAME OUT THIS YEAR SO FAR. IT IS ALSO AN 3D RPG!
Rating: Summary: AMAZING! This will be the game of the year! Review: After serious extensive training I am ready for my first mission; I enter the world called Deus Ex, I talk to people, search for stuff, and can move in any way I want, hidding behind crates, silently taking down enemies and by the use of many different skills and tactics I advance. I find the most amazing things, sunken ships, hidden rooms, overhear usefull conversations, while best of all is, none are required but all help, I could have played this mission in a hundred ways, but I played it MY way. Deus Ex is MY game and it will be YOUR game if you play it too.
Rating: Summary: There are many better games out there Review: This kind of game has been done to death. There is nothing original here, the graphics arent that great, the game play is sloppy and the cut scenes are less than impressive. Words of wisdom, save your money.
Rating: Summary: Game Of The Year! Review: After years of production and hype, Deus Ex is finally here. Is it good? Oh yes! The gameplay is out of this world! Never before have I been so engrossed in a gaming world that seems to change all around me. At the start of the game, you get to chose an area to focus on. This could be a firearms expert, computer whiz a sneak etc. Each way can help you and get you through the game. Example- Your breaking into a lab to find the drug you need to prove that aliens exist. Its guarded by 4 men. Do you A- Shoot the guards and run in. B- Sneak through the ventilation shafts to get in. Or C- Crack into the system, tell the guards to get off duty, and open the door. These are all options for every mission, except there are over 10 each! The game is extremely long, not done yet, and has a story of espionage and conspiracies. The graphics look nice, and the other options will keep you playing for a long time. All in all, front runner with The Sims for game of the year.
