Rating: Summary: Best PC game ever Review: OK, so my first review wasn't too detailed how about this...I bought this and have been playing it non-stop, it is the best first person shooter I have ever played, and believe me I have played the best. This game takes place in the future, you play as a human/cyborg code named JC Denton, the game plays like Half-Life, but has role playing elemants in it, kind of like Omikron: The Nomad Soul, for instance when you talk to someone in the game you will be given choices of what to say to them. Your character doesn't stay the same through out the game, you find augmentation cannisters to make your character better, such as energy regeneration, stealth, night vision, etc. You can also build you character skills such as hacking(you can turn off cameras and set turret guns to kill enemies), swimming(you can swim longer without drowning), weapon skills(the higher your skill the better you will be with your weapon of choice), etc. and you can upgrade your weapons with weapon mods, which give you a longer clip, less recoil, silencer, scope, etc. There is also stealth elements in the game, you can crouch down, while hiding in the shadows, and shoot an enemy right in the head as they walk by. Just do yourself a favor and buy the game, it is absolutely awesome, it gives me that feeling of being in the game like Metal Gear Solid did when I played through that. P.S. The game has graphics like Unreal Tournament, but they are darker because most of the game takes place during the night. Also make sure you have a good system and a good video card, if you want a good experience.
Rating: Summary: Deus Ex -- The Best Game You're Not Playing Review: After reading PC Gamer's "Game of the Year" edition in which "Deus Ex" received top honors, I went ahead and purchased a copy. And all I can say is "wow." Following the tried-and-true format of government conspiracies and viruses gone awry, Deus Ex places you in the futuristic role of JC Denton, an agent for a United Nations Anti-Terrorist Group (UNATCO) who has been augmented w/ superhuman abilities. Immediately, you are taken through a training mission and from there, it's off rescuing Liberty Island, your brother, and eventually, the entire human race. The game is slickly placed, starting slow and then moving into an elusive "who-do-I-trust" mode. Although the game progresses in linear format, HOW you get to the next mission is entirely up to you. For example, if you need to find a way into a warehouse but don't have the computer key code, you can simply blow up the door. Or, find a secret entrance through the basement. With Deus Ex, you're never stuck trying to figure out where to go next or how to do it. A log is kept of all conversations and any other important information you may need, so you'll never be in a scramble looking for that crumpled Post-It note that had the lock code scrawled on it. Graphics are top-notch, and voice acting is superb. Weapons are a little generic, but the enemy AI and story is so engrossing, you'll have a hard time powering down and getting some sleep. If you're looking for an RPG that gets away from the generic dungeon crawl, then pick up Deus Ex. You will not regret it.
Rating: Summary: Best FPS Ever Review: This is one of the most fantastic games i have ever played! One of the biggest pluses is how well you can interact with the environment. Like Counter-Strike, ther are crates you can hide behind, but you can also break them opened and find items. Overall, the only rel flaw I can find, is that the voice acting, and mouth movements are less than perfect. Buy this game.
Rating: Summary: Addictive! Review: Deus Ex was the second 1st person shooter I've tried, Half-Life being the first. As a newcomer to action PC games, I was initially astounded at the types of products available in the industry. After playing several different games, I developed an expectation for excellence. Eidos and Ion Storm quite easily meet those expectations with Deus Ex. I'll cut to the chase . . .this is a wonderful game, full of action, intrigue, suspense, and drama. In fact, it plays like a movie, or an engaging novel. I felt like I needed some Deus Ex Anonymous meetings after the first week-I played constantly. Thus far, I've played from start to finish twice. I am sure I will again. I always thought computer games were for losers who didn't have anything worthwhile to do with their time. I was wrong. These games are great fun. I feel like I'm IN the movie. Don't hesitate to buy this game. . .ask the wife first, as mine got sick of vying for my time. I am happy to say I can put the game down now . . . at least for awhile. I might add that I own a powerful system that supported the action and graphics wonderfully. It does take up a lot of memory though. Great stuff!
Rating: Summary: Yes it will run on XP Review: Download the demo on download.com and give it a try first. I tried the demo with a bit of skepticism but I was pleasantly suprised. Though I have been out of the gaming scene for about five years, I was sad to not be able to have a joystick in my hands -- too much fumbling around the keyboard during critical moments. Anyway, I bought the game on ebay for under two bucks.
Rating: Summary: Everything it had promised and more Review: Quite simply if you adored Half Life, Thief and System Shock 2 then you will love this as it is a mix of all 3. Go and buy one of the greatest games ever written NOW! Every First Person Shooter Fan should be with this game and it does more for its genre with nice touches like being able to complete levels in different ways and having targeting on your gun. I like these new ideas and its good to see. The game feels fresh and has lasting appeal. It is tough going but has similar traits to the aforemetioned games. SS2 - It has a similar character building theme taking a Hacker, Stealth or Heavy Approach. You look at items using the same interface method and inventory is similar. Half Life - You get to shoot a lot of excellant AI computer characters, maybe the best AI yet?? The story and plot is also deep and riviting. Nice to have both the shooting and stategy/stealth element to a game. Thief - Obviously theres the stealth mode and you can carry bodies so enemies wont see them. Silent killing with crossbow. This game takes 3 of the best FPS games of its genre and mixes them together with its own original ideas. Finally there may be a game to beat all 3 and in my opinion this is the bench mark in FPS Adventure games. What are you waiting for - Go Buy Deus ex! (pronounced Due Sex)
Rating: Summary: Conspiracies Everywhere! Beautiful Game... Review: This game is just fun to play. If you've played System Shock 2, then you have a good idea what Deus Ex is. This game is hard core RPG with FPS thrown in. Let's start the review: Graphics: Graphics uses the Unreal Engine therefore it doesnt have good D3D support. The game will run on D3D but expect some slow FPS when polygons start accumulating. A beta patch to fix D3D performance did help a bit. If you're using a GeForce card, dload this beta patch. Voodoo owners shouldnt have any problems. Interface: There's a lot of control keys to memorize but with a little practice, you'll be able to memorize each function. Prepare to use a lot of the USE ITEM key since there's a ton of items you can pick up in this game. Like System Shock 2 and Thief, Deus Ex gives you the action to lean left and right however I didnt find any option to lean forward (very helpful though when sniping from an elevated position). Gameplay: This is where the game shines. The story is based on several conspiracy theories eg. secret governments, roswell, etc. Your mission is to investigate the relationship of each conspiracy and discover that all of these conspiracies are part of a worldwide organization to control and subjugate people. Game runs via mission objectives. You are given primary and secondary goals and you can accomplish them in any order you want. There are some primary goals that you can skip too as long as you've accomplished the most important goal. Lots of skills building is involved (it's RPG). You get skill points for every goal you accomplish; goals from as simple as talking to someone in your HQ to arresting a terrorist. Most missions involve stealth, infiltration. You dont have to go into a mission with guns blazing. You can move in as quietly as possible and still achieve success. AI: Very inconsistent. In a way this is a good thing because it makes the game very unpredictable. AI here are smart. They can hear you if you make too much noise or expose yourself too much. They run away if critically wounded, and they'll gang up on you when you're cornered. Also, the AI remembers things you've done whether they were good or bad. For example, i tried to hack the ATM machine in the game. When I spoke to my boss, he warned not to try hacking into any facilities in the area. And I did my hacking almost like 30 minutes ago. That scene made me smile. Inconsistent AI can be a bad thing too. Sometimes they wont react when they see their dead buddy in front of them, and sometimes they'll sound the alarm. Must suggestion: dispose of the bodies properly. Story and Overall: The game has a lot to offer. The story is multi-varied because it runs on several conspiracy theories. And we know how much we love to listen to conspiracies. This game involves a lot of mind thinking and not senseless shooting. It requires resource management, analysis of tons of information, and a lot of stealth moves. This game is a must buy. Pick it up.
Rating: Summary: SOMEONE HELP WITH INFO! Review: could someone PLEASE tell me if this game will run on Windows XP. I want to but it, but have yet to get response from Eidos tech. THANKS!

Rating: Summary: If you haven't played this game... Review: now's the time to. This is a very revolutionary game that allows you to play it how you wish. Many games have a very linear path to follow, not Deus Ex, you can play the game without killing anyone if you want, or you can outright kill everyone you come across. The game also has 3 endings depending on the choices you make. This is a classic and should be played by any gamer that has any interest in rpg's, first person shooters/sneakers, or just someone in the mood for a good story.
