Summary: Great, but...
Review: This is definitely the best expansion pack for me, being the extreme animal lover that I am, and just before it came out my friend (who does not have any of the games) said how they needed pets. Then I saw an ad in a magazine for it, and I bought it same day. The biggest problem is the inability to really control the pets. And you can't pick their personas, and you don't now what it is until you pay 399 for them. Not that money is a problem, once you know the proper cheats... But still, all in all, I think this was a worthwhile purchase.

Summary: My Favorite Expansion yet!!!
Review: I own all the expansion packs and this one has to be my favorite! You get to choose from dogs, cats, birds, and reptiles. The pets are fun to interact with but remember to start out with one especially if you get a dog. The dog requires a lotta time to house break and teach new tricks and obedience. Like another gamer said, start out with cat first...they require much less care and come already house broken which is a plus. Not only do you get new pets but it also comes with new objects such as a New Orleans design for a house, new cabinets, a new fridge, and new lighting. You will also be impressed with the new downtown area. And lastly you can now grow your own vegetables. You can create a garden and plant all kinds of veggies...even your puppy will help with er...."watering the plants" if ya get my drift! A must have game for a true SIM fan!!!

Summary: Fun, adorable, and yet annoying....
Review: I find that this a great expansion pack and the best that they've come out with. It is alot of fun to play with the animals and they aren't too hard to take care of (maitenance wise)once you get the jist of things. The biggest problem is that things people may have downloaded for vacation and hot date don't show up! (This is for clothing though) If you downloaded pajamas etc. and they aren't named properly, you won't be able to buy them in the store. I overall reccommend this expansion pack for the person looking for a new twist to the fabulous game, The Sims.

Summary: A Little dissapointing
Review: i think that i agree with all the other reviewers when i say that i was dissapointed. it's exciting now to have pets in my house, but everything else is a dissapointmen....

PROS:
-cute little furry pets running through the house
- the garden is fun too, because you can sell the stuff
for a Ton of cash
- they have a phone directory book to contact your
friends which makes your life SOO much eisier.

CONS:
- NO NEW OBJECTS....sure there's a litter box, and beds
for the pets, but other than that there is absolutly
nothing else there....i was so dissapointed when i
found nothing else
- YOU NEED YOUR WHOLE FAMILY IN ORDER TO GO TO THE OLD
TOWN...i had a completely different idea of going
to the old town..
- the pets have there own screen/picture thing, along
with the rest of the members, BUT you cannot control
them at all, not to mention that it is difficult to
make friends with your pet

i've only played with UNLEASED about 8 times, so i cant think of any more cons at the moment.. if you ask if im angry i bought the game, i would say no, because i do like having pets in the house....am i disappointed? well yes...i expected more stuff..you would think after the dissapointment that i got from Vacation, they would have more time to think up of new things...i forgot to mention that UNLEASHED takes up a whole gigabite of your hard-drive, so make sure that when you buy it, you have the space... lets all hope that the next expansion pack (after stupid simsonline comes out) is well thought out, and a pleasure to play =)

Summary: Good, But Not Great
Review: The Sims Unleashed offers a new addition to Sim life, pets. You can choose between Dogs, Cats, Goldfish, Iguanas, Turtles, and Birds. Althought this expantion pack offered pets, gardening, bigger neighborhoods, and community lots, it lacked many new objects, had the same old gameplay and graphics, and is unstable and freezes a lot. Overall it's a good game and I would recommend it.

Summary: My faith is restored
Review: They lost me with Vacation. I strongly disliked that expansion pack. But, they did a really nice job with this one. It is a bit buggy (try placing a sim in the shower before you add the expansion pack!). I have only had the game for a couple of days, but I am hooked. Adding a pet to the mix gives my sims something else to do and someone to take care of. My cat runs to greet his "master" when she gets home. I think this pack brought us back to the original thought behind the sims - running a neighborhood and building up the lives of families - and I for one am thankful for it!

Summary: More Promise then Punch
Review: I was very excited about this expansion PAC, perhaps too excited. Although the new town looks great, game play has not changed or even improved. This expansion PAC is design solely for the cat & dog lover (I was very disappointed when I found out a monkey could not be a pet - it's just a decoration on the Box). There is no substantial change in human interaction worth mentioning & the "over a 100 new objects" are basically for pets only. If you are tempted to get a pet dog, be careful. A full time stay-at-home sim is needed to housebreak and take care of it. The pups need more attention then a New-Born Baby Sim so you might have to kiss that high paying Sims' Job goodbye! The stray animals (a nice sounding feature)are more annoying then fun & you can't take the stray out of the cold and make it your pet. Also I think this new PAC is filled with bugs. One Example: Unknown sims from next door not only ring the doorbell for a visit, they just walk right into your sim's house. The new "zoning" option is not what Maxis lead its customers to think during its on-line pre-sale chat. Despite their promise to the contrary, many items purchased or created for the home can not be used in the "Old Town" & the animals can not be part of the Hot-Date city (what's a city without rats). Perhaps the most annoying feature is the fact that a Sim can not visit "Old Town" without dragging the entire family (including pet) with him, which leads to problems for sim children missing school and prevents adult sims from going to "Old Town" while their spouse is at work or their child is at school. It would have been better if this PAC added weekends off for the student & working sim, or added weather elements, or a calendar feature so that holidays/birthdays/wedding anniversaries could become part of the sims play experience. Maxis could have at least offered a wider and wilder variety of pets to chose from (monkey, pig, ferret, horse, maybe even a LION!) Heck, there isn't even a Basset Hound puppy offered! I am not sorry I purchased this item, just disappointed that it isn't all that special (much like the SIMS VACATION PAC)....

Summary: The Sims Unliked
Review: When the Sims first came out it was amazing. I thought life couldn't get better. With each expansion pack my thoughts toward this loved game are dwindling though. Hot Date was the first expansion pack that bored me. It seemed to be very difficult to maintain each need of my Sims and still take them downtown, which was fun but not as fun as it could have be if the Sims were allowed to not only to buy items on their own but if there social interactions were loosened allowing Sims to interact better with each other. There just seemed to be no action unless a Sim who was a friend or above with another Sim was friendly to a different Sim, which in turn only got the response of a slap. Vacation was a nice change, a little more options and it was nice to be able to sleep and raise energy levels to you didn't have to run home every three hours (which go by fast in Simville)to get your stuff together to come back. I loved treasure hunting and fishing! Unleashed is really fun, has the animals and all but I am experiancing so many problems with this expansion I can't begin. The bugs are enormus. For example, I find that whenever I throw a party or one of my neighbors/friends goes into the backyard or outside after having already entered the house they are stuck and I have to delete them. I had to delete one of my Sims children once as well, which was bothersome. I also sense fires happen a lot more when cooking. If you have a fire alarm it seems to be ok, they are saved but they constantly lose hygiene and it's irratating to have them spend half of the Sim day reading a book to get one point. I agree with so many of the suggestions that other users are giving. This game has so much potential but I am afraid my patience is running thin and I would like to see the Maxis team spend more time on bugs and making the game more real. We are WAY past it being a exciting new way to look at Role Playing, now that they have captured ppl's attention they need to expand the original thought of the Sims, not just by adding more items. Make them more versitile and give them reality, make the day go by as it should, allow the kids to grow as well as pets. AND FIX THE UNLEASHED BUGS!!!!!! Before I scream.
