Review: Look, I bought this game because I love The Lord of the Rings, John Ronald Ruel Tolkien was a great guy. But this game sucks! I'll give it one for good graphics and environments, but it was just too easy! You could flip through the levels in at the maximum in three days. What the hell is that? It's not at all challenging, and you can only play as Frodo, Mithrandir, and Elessar. If you want a good Lord of the Rings game, then buy the ones made by EA games. They are more challenging and cooler. This game is best for a seven-year-old. In conclusion, do not buy this game, but buy EA's version.

Review: Thank goodness I didn't pay for this game; I bought it with a rebate offer. I couldn't get the game to launch at all. My computer is adequate to run other games comparable to this game, but this game doesn't seem to work with my computer. I have been able to run lots of other games until I tried to install this one. Poorly written game. I tried to install the patch and that didn't work, either. I put in so much effort to make this game run and it just wouldn't. DON'T BUY THIS GAME unless your computer meets the specified requirement on the dot.

Summary: Close to a hit-but wrong game
Review: Vivendi Universal seemed to do everything right with this game. Graphics-great. Sound-great. Zoom and controls-great. It seems to be an instant classic, Sso you might be wondering why i gave this game 2 stars. If they only made this exact game-but with a different story line. I have read The Lord of Rings trilogy, and it is extremly complex. Great Book, Great movie, but almost impossable to make a game out of it-if not impossable. The storyline is way to complex. You cannot roam around and do what ever you want like in a Grand Theft Auto game, for that would change the future of the storyline, and with a storyline as complex as lord of the rings, that will change everything. Basically, gandlalf or anyone else will tell you what to do, you do it, then this happens again. In a game like Medieval total war, or GTA you deside your fate. This game you dont. You either do what you are supposed to do, or you die and try doing it over. There is no sence of stratagy or thinking, whatever you do, you dont ecide what you do next, the game does. Maybe a differant storyline would change it-like the world of middle earth, except you control the armies of gondor or whatever to fight the evil lord. Get a game that you have more control over, i sugest medieval total war, or perhaps wait a bit for Rome: total war coming out soon.

Summary: More of a virtual tour with superb graphics.
Review: If you played big rpg games like Morrowind and Deus Ex, this game falls far short of the interactivity of those top games. Basically the game leads you through the scenarios of the Fellowship of the Ring either by staying more true to the book instead of the movies, or filling in the spots where the movies skipped over. For example, the society and background of Hobbiton is greatly fleshed out and you meet more hobbit characters from Tolkien's book. Same with Tom Bombadill's part and the Barrow wights. Instead of Arwen saving Frodo, Glorfindel shows up on que and Frodo rides alone past the river on Glorfindel's borrowed horse. The game completely skips the battle in Balin's tomb chamber while the movie and the Two Towers game feature it. And Bilbo's prologue and birthday party are completely skipped. Of course the crucial points are done including Gandalf vs. the Balrog. The voice acting like others have said is mediocre with Gandalf and Galadriel's voice acting the worst of the lot. As for the positives, the graphics are top notch, even by Morrowind standards. However, it's all too few with "invisible" wall limits, and a very short running time. It looks like most of the work went into the art while the role playing elements and interactivity were given up. The engine gets sluggish with many 3D characters at once, probably a clue that the game was programmed from mostly scripts and libraries using the created art rather than ground up game development. I guess overall this is to be expected for a game made only within a year after the movie. Still, if one looks at it as a tour video of Middle Earth or as a fan of LOTR, you're set for a good sightseeing ride.

Review: This game is too easy, you can beat in in less than 2 hours. Hint: All you do is just run by all your enemies and get to the last part of the level. NO NEED TO FIGHT THEM! This makes the game way to easier than it already is ridiculously easy. Not a good game to buy. Luckily, i got it for free after the rebate. :-)

Review: its ok, being the only lotr video game for the pc, you have to deal with what you get. easy to beat, only one skill level, to many pointless missions as frodo, to easy, never even needed to use the ring. buy it used, or borrow from a freind, but don't pay full price.

Summary: A trip back in time...
Review: A dose of Kings' quest, a little Zork, and a dash of Ulysses and the golden fleece...and you have , THIS GAME! The design is well done. The interface is iffy at times, but not as bad as i've seen. The feel of the game is very nostalgic. Unless you've been a gamer (as myself) since the early eighties, you will probably NOT appreciate this game. Difficult puzzles and a very colorful back-drop present you with a classic tale of medievil proportions. Don't dump this game if you've ever stared at the screen blankly back in 1986 at two in the morning wondering if you should drop down into the well or not... back before gamepads were invented and a keyboard was the most important tool for a computer...ah the good old days.

Summary: It is Boring
Review: I really gave it a try. I spent a long time just trying to get out of the Hobbit Hole in the beginning, then I had to get to The Green Dragon but couldn't find it. I love The Lord of the Rings and this game was a disapointment. Now don't think I didn't have the system requirements, because nothing was wrong in that area. The game was just designed weird. For instance,you had to watch the little introduction every time you started a game. I definitely do not reccomend this game. It's boring.

Review: THIS GAME IS THE ULTIMATE PC GAME. ONCE I BOUGHT THIS FROM THE STORE, I PUT IT INTO MY PC AND PLAYED IT FOR NEARLY 3 HOURS. IT RULES! It is awesome playing with Gandalf's spells, Aragorn's sword combos, and Frodo's One Ring. It had awesome parts (The Balrog kicks BUTT!), cool graphics, and sweet gameplay. Anyone who is a total fan of the movies and the books (like me), buy this game NOW!

Any faults? It's the same answer to this question- Are there flying purple hyenas on Pluto?

Too bad I beat it 3 times already...
