Summary: A MAJOR Disappointment!
Review: Well, having finished the game, I thought it only right that I share my opinion with those who might be ready to buy it. I am THOROUGHLY disappointed. I have completed the game in it's entirety in less than 3 hours of gameplay! The graphics are decent, but not that good and certainly not cutting edge. The cinematics are ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. It's hard to describe it, but they look almost foggy, as if someone smeared virtual vaseline on the virtual lens that was shooting them. I didn't have any high expectations for this game because I thought it would be like most movie-based games --really, really bad. Well, I have to say that it sinks even below those expectations. I can't believe I paid [money]for this game. I feel dirty.

Review: I like it a lot but it could of been made better. It was a smart idea to make a game like this, but I say that it is kind of lame. For instance the graphics are cool but it is hard to addapt such an amazing novel into a a game for the storys dont match as well as I they could of. So I gave it four stars for a fun but yet it is kind of lame.

Review: This game took me 2 days to beat. It is very short. It is completely linear. And its buggy, crashed my system a few times and I have a high end system, only 3 months old.It was entertaining for those few short hours but it certainly wasnt worth [the money]

Summary: Short-lived Fun
Review: While this game offers spectacular graphics (and the graphics are the reason I gave this game 3 stars instead of 2), it falls short in the gameplay department. First off, if you haven't read the book and have only seen the movie, there are parts of the game that you won't recognize. The game is wonderful the first time through, and very addictive. Although once you finish the game, there isn't much left to do. There isn't any varying difficulty levels. I finished the game withing 2 days of buying it, perhaps with a max of 5 hours of gameplay. Again, while the first time through is a blast, the game just isn't worth this price. Its a one-shot game, so I'd wait until the price goes down.

Summary: Can We Say Overrated!
Review: I was thouroughly impressed with the cutscenes and thats about it. The gameplay was difficult: it was very hard to move around esp as Frodo and the game itself was short. And also the puzzles.....cmon Ive had harder things to solve as a toddler puttin the square peg in the round hole. Overall, I was very dissappointed.

Summary: What a dissapointment!!
Review: Being a big fan of Tolkein's work and knowing that this game was based on his "literally" work, I rushed to get this game with excitement. The PC version of the game which I got was just so disappointing that I am in disbelief. Here are the problems with the game in no particular order: GAME ENGINE; this refers to the PC version of the game so keep that in mind. The engine of the game that controls the camera angels and movements of characters is so poor and buggy that I am shocked this game was released in the first place. The camera veers off to a tree top while you are fighting a gang of Orcs and Trolls leaving you at their mercy while you are frantically trying to see where you are slashing!! BAD CINEMATICS: I guess the movie set such a high standard for visuals that anything would have disappointed, but the cinema tics of this game are so basic and crude that they are an insult to Tolkein's vision. Clearly they were trying to follow the movie without doing it verbatim but they did a very sloppy job. GAME FLOW; the game is nothing more than a series of basic role playing with levels that are easy to beat (with the occasional "puzzles" that are not about thinking or challenging you in any meaningful way, but rather all about you running around the level and pushing and pulling things to figure things out) The fighting is basic and a button cruncher. There is no strategy or brain behind this game just follow the path and hack idiotic opponents. VISUALS: Given the rich world and references in the book, this game could have been a treasure of amazing scenery and clever connections and exploration motives. But instead the game is based on an old looking engine with drab looking atmosphere. Come on people the technology's there. Maybe they should license the Unreal 2003 engine and use the stunning backgrounds available in it. Now, here's what would have been brilliant, if they had taken a few notes from Grand Theft Auto III's free for all game flow that allows you to roam around a vibrant environment and explore the maps (provided the maps had anything interesting to see or explore, in the current game the maps are devoid of any imagination). Even an idea which would allow you to stray from the book's story line with the fellowship and see what happens would have been intriguing but that would have required thinking or planning which the team on this game clearly didn't bother to do. Now if this game was released 4 years ago in its current form it would have been forgiven compared to what was out back then. But with the possibilities and ideas that are currently in numerous other games these days, had they just copied concepts from other games they should have been able to come up with something less lame and disappointing. Shame on the Estate of Tolkein for allowing such a hastily put together game to be released seemingly to milk the current popularity of Sam Jackson's movies and the enduring legacy of J.R.R. Tolkein's brilliance.

Review: I have been keeping up with this game as it has been developed and all I can say that if you want to make a Lotr game you better put a better effort into it than You need mushroom Frodo.
They should have made this a true RPG instead its linear in plot. The graphics seem ok but from what I hear the controls are sloppy on the PC. All I can say is good try but you lose.Long live JRRT

Summary: A great story ruined
Review: This game is terrible. Vivendi Universal took one of the greatest storys ever told and ruined it. The character models are cartoon-like, the textures are poor, the voices are laughable and the gameplay is not much better. I'm a die-hard Toklien fan and I still hate this game. Stay away from this game at all costs.

Summary: Moria is awesome in the game! :)
Review: Well I'm almost done with this game. I'm past Lothlorien and I need to rescue one of the hobbit boys who was taken by a nazgul flying lizard with a wraith. I love this game. I thought some parts were hard but when you know the trick to get past them it's not too bad. This game is worth getting if only to see Moria. I think that is my favorite part of the game and the most fun part too. The battles are not too hard and Gandolf and Gimli make a great fighting team! Also in Moria is the place where Fordo can make use of the ring! I thought there was no use for the ring until this part of the game. When Frodo and Gimli are adventuring in Moria it is helpful to use the ring to run past Orcs and then have Gimli fight them while you adventure ahead. I loved the part of Lothlorien I saw up in the tree with Galadriel and Celeborn. I wish I could have walked through lothlorien instead of only seeing a couple rooms up in the tree. It would have been nice as this is one part of the book that really wanted to see in the video game. The fight with the Balrog was pretty easy in Moria. I think battling Old Man Willow was harder! I'm not complaining though. Gandalf kicks Balrog butt shooting lighting zaps and then hitting him with his sword. This is definately a game I will replay. It's a short game but good.
