Summary: Good Game; Needs Some Work
Review: I've played Horizons for about a month and found it to be quite promising. I would agree that the game was released early, but there haven't been any major bugs to interfere with my gamplay.

The non-dragon classes seem to need a bit of work to help distinguish them further, but there's a lot of variation that will be nice down the road. There are a lot of classes to pick from in both crafting and adventuring.

Dragons recently became a lot better since they can now become adults and fly and other promised things. They have a nice selection of quests and can be quite fun.

The biggest issue I have with the game is the barren landscape, but it's been getting better. They seem to be adding more content as bugs are being squashed.

It's well worth a try if you like to craft, but it may not be as enjoyable if you prefer to adventure only as the landscape is still a bit barren and many of the quests are repetitive.

Summary: Another "new" game with all the old content.
Review: 1 star because Amazon needs you to type 1-5. In reality there should be a law against selling such trash. One day, all games will be purchased online, and you will get a 7 day trial at that, or better. That's the test of a good game. Not selling this "nothing new here and a lot less" game for $49.99.

As far as playability, the game runs fine for me, but since they are "now" offering a 7 day free trial (after misled people purchased the game and then quit) and the servers are always "very light" in population, perhaps I'm just lucky. The graphics are ok--graphics don't make a game for me.

I don't see anything in this game I didn't see in UO, EQ, AC, DAoC, AO, EAB and a few other lesser known MMORPGs, and done vastly better in those MMORPGs I might add (though none succeeded at making anything more than an elaborate time sink anyway). I do see less though. A lot less. Kill monster, get new level, kill different (or possibly same) looking monster, get new level... What's new here? Less monsters I suppose. Also, there is never any "fear" or "suspense" that a monster will kill you. It's very easy to run away, and there is no great penalty for death. I'm not an advocate for a great death penalty but I would like "some" suspense. This is just too easy.

The developers claim there is some plot, or story line, as all MMORPGs claim. It's not much, as in all MMORPGs. What amazed me most was the vast expanse... of nothing. You walk and walk, and keep on walking and walking, and there is nothing, or very little. If you do try the trial (and I suggest you pack your bags after the 7th day) join a guild, otherwise you will spend those 7 days searching for information about the game online.

Crafting? You are put on a treadmill where you mine/gather things, carry them to a station and craft "something". "Something" that all other crafters are crafting and since there are so few players playing the game there's no market. Besides, early on you don't craft anything of any great value (and later, you don't craft anything that someone else can't make). Essentially you do this over and over, much like killing the monsters, and get better versions of what you could make before. How novel. Crafting formulae are difficult to locate, so you spend your time doing the hamster on a treadmill thing... always. Very nice if your therapist recommends this type of obsessive-compulsive behavior over another.

In a nutshell, this is a horrible game that is dying quickly. The obsessive-compulsive types may carry the game for a while, but I'd rather not game with people who are psychologically challenged. They don't want to group because they have to spend months crafting in order to make something someone already can.

Summary: Didn't play it because I couldn't play it.
Review: I downloaded the seven day free trial for this game and it made me put in my credit number. That's the most idiotic thing ever and the very first time that I saw a free downloadable trial of a game that made you put in your credit card. They probably make you put it in so they won't tell you when your seven day trial is over but instead, charge you after it's over without notice. I'm giving it one star just for this reason, it shows that the company is greedy and like to give a lot of BS.

Summary: Missing Major Features
Review: This game has possibly ruined the entire MMORPG genre for me. I personally didn't have any problems with the launch as some seem to have had - my problem is with the game itself. There simply is less innovation in this game than the first generation MMORPGs. If you plan to play an adventure school then get ready for kill monster X for experience (there are no item drops - only crafting resources), level up, and then move on to killing monster Y ad infinitum. If you plan on playing a crafter, just substitute create item in place of kill monster. Nothing fun about this game at all.

Summary: Great game but don't buy used!
Review: While still working out some gltiches, the overall experiance is great with a fabulous user-based commerce and a lot of fun in the adventuring areas as well.
The glitches are not all worked out but one would assume subsequent released would fix this.

A note: DO NOT BUY THIS GAME USED. The Cd-Keys and accounts are NOT transferrable and establishing your own account will not be possible with Artifact Entertainment if the game has already been registered. Artifact will NOT transfer the code or account. I've already had to purchase a second copy of the game after a used version was untransferrable. Customer support was very helpful and polite but unable due to user agreements to assist on that one.

Summary: It's new, and a lot of fun
Review: PROS:
- Ton of fun
- Game has attracted great people
- Graphics are pretty neat, especially the coast line or the night time sky. I like moving clouds.
- Good crafting and adventuring system.
- Dragons
- More Unlockable player races
- Dynamic world that changes depending on how the players play

CONS:
- Laggy when there are a lot of people and actions, especially in the City of Tazoon.
- Graphics done with DX8, instead of DX9 so I'm having issues with my ATI card.
- I'm not thrilled that I need to use Internet Explorer to gain access to the game.
- There are some people who have no life and are already really high level because they do nothing but... hey, doesn't that say something for the game?

Summary: Needs Time
Review: The game hasn't changed much after beta.
o Not much content.
o Several players now boast level 100 just after 1 month of play.
o Server events pose lag issues worse than earlier games.
o Regardless of hardware, frame rates are below par.
o "Skater" and "standing grey corpses" as other players approach.
o Dragon race is unfinished.
o Observe several classes solo higher level mobs
o Lack of item decay keeps craftable items in low demand
o Quests are not very involved and lack creativity.

Summary: Lucklustre
Review: Firstly, I have to say that anyone who awards this game more than three stars is either on medication, employed by the game's publishers, or both.

Horizons has been called ' the Fisher Price of MMORPGs'. The only thing that it lacks from that description is the robust nature of Fisher Price products. It's a laggy, buggy mess of unfulfilled promises, delivered with the graphics engine of yesterday, demanding the machine of tomorrow to run at a decent speed. If you own an ATI card then forget it, as the DX8 (yes, NOT DX9) engine doesn't work properly with ATI cards, resulting in horrible frame rates.

Even if you do get it running decently, be prepared for terrible character models and NPCs/Players that are slowly drawn from gray blobs before your eyes. Be prepared for a dearth of anything for the adventurer and a simplistic crafting system for those people who think carrying materials back and forth makes exciting gaming. A huge empty world with a very limited number of mobs are what awaits you. When the crazed fans of this game, offer 'It has a wonderful interface' as its defence, then you know that your money is better spent elsewhere.

Also, the game is full of bugs being happily exploited with the publishers too afraid to ban anyone and contribute to the games already falling number of subscribers.

Another annoyance is the web browser login system, which forces you to use Internet Explorer and which crashes a lot.

This is another insult to the consumer from gaming companies who think they can release unfinished products, take your money and then allow you to pay them for six months while they give you some of the things promised on the box.

I gave this mess 2 stars simply for the dragon player race, but sadly that in itself is not even finished properly (despite being the selling point) and has already been nerfed!

Horizons looks dated, lags horribly and offers nothing that competes with the current crop of MMORPGs. Maybe in 12 months it might resemble a good game, but by then you'll be playing something else anyway.

Summary: WARNING: This game is a RIP-OFF
Review: After you buy the game, you MUST purchase a separate license to play on-line - or you simply can't play the game. That's BS, in my opinion. Basically, if you spend the $50 odd dollars on the game but elect not to give your credit card number to purchase the right to play on line, you end up with a useless, $50, piece of plastic (i.e., the CD itself). It's worthless.

It also made me real nervous that the game connected to it's own server right after I installed it and my firewall software (Norton's) didn't detect it as an unknown program trying to access the Internet. This is bad news. I have never known my firewall to miss a program before, which leads me to believe this software somehow 'spoofs' the firewall into believing it's trusted software. Needless to say, it's not trusted by me, and I uninstalled it immediately. I can only hope it didn't install some nefarious spy-ware program on my system that's still on there.

Buy this game if you don't mind having to continually pay for the right to play it - and if you don't mind spending beaucoup $ up front. Don't buy this game if you have a brain and value your privacy on-line.

Summary: This game sucks
Review: Played early beta, was fun. Then they opened it up, too many people. Too much lag. This game STILL (1/19) sucks, save your money for World Of Warcraft.
