Summary: Mulitplayer is the basis of this game
Review: I cant stress that enough. The single player campaign is just filler for what is offered when you play online. I havent even played 5 whole missions in single player even though i have owned this game for months. The sinlge player game is fun, but can be tedious when trying to coordinate a mission plan that wont kill your team AI. They tend to get themselves shot when you arent managing them directly.
The multiplayer part of this game is so addictive, its insane. THis is some of the best cooperative play I have ever experienced. Of course a deathmatch or team-deathmatch style is offered, cooperative is my favorite. There are other game types as well, including hostage resues, bomb disarmings, and escorts where the other team has to prevent a pilots escape and sometimes YOU are the pilot. All in all, taking out terrorists with online pals is the most rewarding. The game has an excellent interface that automatically downloads new maps, textures, and sounds when you join a new server that is playing a new map. Its so easy to use.
If youre not into multiplayer or have a bad internet connection, perhaps this title isnt for you. If you think you will really enjoy the single player game or have tried the multiplayer demo and loved it, get this game. Take out some tangos with some friends online. Dont have any friends online? You end up making pals when you join the same couple servers every day and keep seeing the same people. Its very social and ther are rarely any creeps playing cooperatively.

I would have given a 4 and a half because the single player isnt quite as engrossing as the mulitplayer.

Summary: Tom Clancy is a GOD!!
Review: Ok I have played and beaten all of the games that Tom Clancy and Ubi soft entertainment have made but Raven Shield is the best one they have made. Oh don't even let me get started with the guns, they have put in more than enough guns for you to kill all the terrorist you want. You won't beleve the sound on this game, when you throw a flashbang in a room the ring it makes is so believable in the game. Ubi want right over the edge with the graphics in this game, you just won't believe what you see. I think this game has raisen the bar for not just first-person shooters but in all games for the rest of time. You should just go get the game yourself so you can find out for you yourself. GO BUY NOW!!!!

Summary: Best... Game... Ever
Review: Well, maybe no best game, but a lot of fun. I just did that to get your attention. Anyway, it's incredibly realistic. Every gun has its goods and bads, the graphics are just crazy and the gameplay is incredibly addictive. At first you'll just look at damage, then accuracy, then range on the gun's stats. But slowly you'll realize ho important some of the other things are such as stability and recovery. You'll then realize how deep it really is. Plus, with Up to 3 customizations for each gun (Thermal Scope, Sound SUppressor, Mini Scope, Hi_capacity Mag, etc.) You get over 150 combinations. The levels are fun, challenging and intuitive. Plus, it's not like CS or Unreal where you can just charge in guns a'blazin'. (I know that sounded redneckish) You really have to strategize. Do I open the dorr all the way and unload my G3A3, or do I nudge it open just an inch so no one notices and toss in a flashbang? Or, do I toss in some tear gas and blow them to pieces as they rush out coughing? My only gripe would be that the single-player game is very difficult. You'll ant to practice a lot before you attempt them. However, that just means I'll enjoy it longer.

Summary: Good game
Review: This is a good game. It has great graphics and is a breeze to play. I enjoy it alot.

Summary: Alright, has it's fair share of problems somewhat.
Review: I enjoy shooting stuff. Especially with a huge selection of guns. I like seeing the gun models too, it adds to the realism. Raven Shield or Ghost Recon? Which game is better? Raven shield focuses on close quarter combat, Ghost Recon, emphasizes stealth in huge urban environments with AI that don't always know you are there.

I enjoy the fighting in this game somewhat. Against human players it is great, even and fair. The AI though, is terrible alot of the time.

Planning missions is great. It is easy to set up the entire plan for a squad, sometimes they will be a bit stupid, and won't stop to kill a terrorist, but they get the job done. AI for your team is fine. The only problem I see is fighting. When your backup shoots at enemys, they look at you basically. I turned around to see where my partner was shooting, his gun was moving around crazily and I hear gunshots from it. You see, when the AIs in your group shoot at enemys and you look over in their direction, they want to turn to face you, so you cannot see where they are shooting, which does NOT help you locate the enemy AI's and sometimes gets you and your team killed.

The environments are great. Multiplayer lets you play them over and over, and they are huge and detailed. Lot's of stuff, not much to interact with besides doors, windows, and some explosive tanks, but still it looks good. I however, prefer the huge outdoor enviroments of Ghost Recon.

Graphics are great. Lots of gun models, Ghost Recon didn't show the gun models, which wasn't that cool. I like having the heavy artillery and such. Everyone dies from 2-3 hits basically. One can do the job. I prefer Ghost Recon's wounded and okay status thingy, because sometimes when my hud is off, I won't realize I am wounded until I notice that my guy limps.

As for AI and such. Well, first let me tell you about moving around. When you sit up and down and lay, it is a little, difficult. Sometimes I get shot massively because my character takes forever to stand up, normally in life you could get up and run in an instant, yet the time it takes to move between laying and standing takes too long, and often exposes your back to terrorists. Your team AI will sometimes lay with you, facing the exact same way you are, which will in turn kill them all off from a bad guy behind them. Also sometimes guns dont shoot immediately, like the AK 74. It will pause for about .5 seconds, which sometimes gets me killed. Also gun stability. It takes forever to have the crosshair closed. When you are walking or running or even crouching and walking, your crosshair goes out REALLY far. In real life, when you walk, your gun's ability to hit isn't affected. In this game they love making the cross hairs go out 5 miles when you move an inch. It is almost retarted that the creators decided to make it impossible to hit a guy 2 feet from you when you move.

Ok now I will tell you about the enemy AI. Terrible. Ferocious too. Ok, you are standing and blam, your dead. Look, there is an AI a mile away in the dark. Huh? The AI doesn't need a scope or a night vision, your team is the same way, except your team seems to have crappier vision, and doesn't shoot a guy until he comes in about 15 feet. So darkness doesn't play a role, and stealth only works somewhat, most of the time you will be seen or heard. Sometimes the AI will shoot you while they are turning around. WTF? Yes it is true, sometimes I die from a guy who isn't even looking at me, and the Ai also can see all around them, so if you appear behind them, they see you. I hate how sometimes in cooperative online I will die from crappy AI and have to wait 5 minutes to play again. Then there is the AI aiming. They always hit you basically. Even when they are walking, their gun never seems to miss. When they are standing and you are crouching behind a car, even if they are not looking at your legs, they can shoot you and kill you. Basically if you think crawling will help you get hit less, you are wrong donkey kong.

Overall? I like shooting stuff, playing against human beings is fine. Although I hate the way heartbeat sensors work and hate how sometimes when I crouch, crawl, or stand they will show the exact same reading, humans are flimsy. Heartbeat pucks, jammers, or those other kinds of pucks can easily fool them. I have seen FAR less hackers on this game then counterstrike. Over my time playing online, I think I have encountered one hacker, who died constantly because he thought hacks made him invincible. So for a change of pace, this game is much better than counterstrike for online, has great environments, a planning system that lets a player describe the entire AI path(there are also pre-rendered ones for the campaign), and finally a game that has tons of weapons, so you won't ever get bored.

Summary: Not happy with Ubi
Review: First off, do not buy this game if you do not have an "Uber Computer" (ex: 2.4+ Ghz Processor) with at least a 4x AGP videocard with 64 Meg memory. I am using a 1.4 Ghz and the gameplay is choppy unless I drop all graphics options to at least medium and wipe out the "enhanced audio". That's in addition to closing all background processes except Explorer and Systray. This game is supposed to be "graphically optimized for Nvidia graphics". Gee... I thought I had one.... Multiplayer? Don't even try unless you want to deal with the following: 1) Game hesitates for 40 - 80 sec at regular intervals even on LAN games (the main reason I bought it). 2) Online play requires you to enter a 16 digit code every time you want to play. I suspect the hesitation is due to the game trying to contact the online server to update game servers and/or trying to determine you you have a legit copy of the game. My suggestion? Don't buy this one unless you have a 3 - 4 Ghz processor, 8x AGP 128M Nvidia graphics card and 1G physical memory. And no... I am NOT happy with this game. BTW, if you do buy this game... Don't install the 1.4 patch they offer. It just makes the game even more graphics hungry. Single player is "kinda'" ok.

Summary: Awesome Graphics Rainbow Six with a lot of flaws
Review: I have been a big Rainbow Six fan games since 1998 when the first game came out.

I was extremely amazed when I see the graphic improvement in Rainbow Six Raven Shield graphics and sounds, but to bear Tom Clancy, I think this game needs a lot of works. The story line is kind of boring and not very exiting.

Red Storm entertainment should have realized that the game has a lot of bugs and try to fix the bugs before they put it on the market.

Well, Rainbow Six Raven Shield has a lot of flaws, the A.I. can shoot you from a distance away with the UZI while his eyes are looking somewhere else. Everybody who has shot a gun knows that you can not aim at a target while your eyes are not on the target. Game becomes extremely hard and very frustrating to play, since the Artificial intelligence cheats!

Another terrible flaw in this game is, the graphic runs very slow. I have a Pentium 4 2.5 with 1 GIGs of RAM and RADEON 9800 and the game still runs very slow. I tried to change the Raven Shield graphic settings and still the game runs awful! I thought it was my computer problem, but I tried to reinstall windows and tried to reinstall the game, but still the game was slow!

In conclusion, Raven Shield is an OK game. Great works on the graphics and sounds, but it has an awful story line and a lot of bugs!

Summary: Slick but thin
Review: This is a good-looking game, great range of small arms (although no grenade launchers or bazookas), cool graphics and animation. The squad controls are easy to use and a valuable addition to an FPS, even if they're not entirely effective.

But underneath the slick exterior, you'll encounter the same problems and frustrations that dog nearly every game in this genre.

The AI can be crap. If you throw down a little bit of smoke and stand in it, the terrorists, or "tangos", will not be able to spot you even though you can still see them. On the other hand, on some occasions they become remarkably eagle-eyed and can spot you from the other side of a darkened meat-processing plant even though you are using night vision goggles and they are not.

The game also incorporates features to make it more "realistic", which instead only succeed in irritating you. It incorporates an artificial level of inaccuracy into your fire so that when you're running or coming to stop you'll often find you can't hit anything even though your sights appear to be right on target. You can be in the ludicrous situation where you are blazing away at point blank range with an M60 at a tango who, after a suitable pause, will gun you down with his pistol, then run away, unhurt. Your weapons also jump around all over the place from the kick from the rounds (although you can learn to control it by dragging down on your gun).

I could live with these problems if the tangos were in the same boat, but they are not. They have no problems with accuracy, quite the opposite. Even when they are moving, the tangos' aim is unfailing after one or two bursts. They are also undeterred by your fire. Sure, some will run or switch positions when they see you. But they rarely will they take cover or become pinned down, even when you are putting heavy covering firing on them.

This means that one of the most potentially enjoyable elements of the game - long and complicated shootouts, are rare. The makers should consider lowering the accuracy of the terrorists in the next game and making them more like real human beings who fear for their lives when thousands of rounds are raining down on them. (The game also incorporates an "auto-aim" function that is optional for human players but seems to be used by all the AI combatants, making them lethal.)

The missions are okay, with great ambient sound effects and gore. The best are when you are shooting it out in a tycoon's house, peppering his wall paper with holes and smashing huge panes of glass. But again (I never know why FPS game designers always do this), the makers incorporate a finicky stealth mission where you have to creep around and are not permitted to shoot anyone or be seen. Are these missions really anyone's idea of fun? MoH Allied Assault incorporated these sorts of missions too and they were just as annoying there.

The other good and bad part of Raven Shield is the mission planning. This lends an element of strategy to the game that makes it more interesting and extends its life a bit. But the mousework setting up the mission plans can be awkward, with waypoints pointing in the wrong direction so that your team might be left facing a wall with their backs to a multitude of tangos. There are other limitations, for instance, you also can't get the team to throw grenades over balconies onto other floors.

This is a fun game but one mission quickly blends in with the others after a short while. Together with the niggling elements mentioned above, it quickly starts to feel like any other FPS.

Summary: Not bad, but not what I want as a big fan of R6 & GR
Review: This game is a few steps backwards compared to Rogue Spear, depending on your point of view. There are a few nice new things- standing/sitting/prone positions (a la Ghost Recon), better graphics, and well, I can't think of much else.

* You can attach ONE accessory to your weapon. This means that you do not have the standard options that the M4 SOPMOD offers spec-ops folks in real life. Want a scope and a silencer? Sorry!
* Many commonly used accessories are missing.
* Tango AI acts stupid when a smoke grenade goes off. It allows you to walk right up to them and shoot them point blank.
* There is still no "wobble" when shooting first person. You try holding a 9 pound assault rifle stable when standing- you will wobble some! 1 point lost for realism. "Reticle bloom" is a poor substitute in my opinion.
* No richocets. Another point lost for realism, and this is supposed to be realistic 1st-person close quarter combat.
* You've still got snipers with no real places to use them effectively. You can snipe as well with a scoped MP5 as any other rifle.
* If I shoot someone in the wrist with a .50 cal JHP round from an M89 rifle, it doesn't blow their hand off and they return fire
* If I shoot someone in the foot a few times, they die
* There are several major steps back from Rogue Spear:
- Planning mode has less features and is much less effective
- Elite level is too hard and unrealistic. I find it impossible. Forget camo, they will always see you. And they will shoot you with 1-shot deadly accuracy from a 9mm handgun at 200 yards when you're wearing body armor.
- The AI of the NPC team members SUCKS. Your men will always get killed (especially on elite level), so you're better off just going it with 1 guy. I mean, they stare at walls sometimes, they cover areas that are already clear, and they simply can't deal with the tangos. They don't seem to see anything that isn't directly in front of them.
- You can now only have 3 teams instead of 4 (and less operators I think)
- No replays anymore!!!
- Very minor- I can no longer listen to MP3s in the background while playing

So my major problems with this game can be summarized:
* Gameplay is not as enjoyable as Rogue Spear (or Ghost Recon for that matter, or probably even the first R6!), although it certainly uses more CPU...
* The developers focused too much on redoing the graphics and other cosmetic things, while the "meat" of the game suffered. There are few noticeable improvements over Rogue Spear, and many retracted features.

What I want to see as a long time R6/GR fan:
* More Realism! Not in how the faces of the tangos look, but in the way combat is carried out.
* More effective AI, and more effective planning phase
* More freedom with weapon configuration, as this is very important
* More effective sniping capabilites

Don't buy this if you haven't played Rogue Spear.. Go buy it instead. Unless you're just into Multiplayer games and don't care about tactics or realism.
