Summary: Something's Missing Here...
Review: Hitman 2 has better graphics, more missions, game saves (thank god) and more options in choosing how the hit is carried off. This sequal lacks the game-play frusteration of the original, and even better, it hasn't crashed once. The locations are beautiful and fun to explore, and just like the orignial, the music is great. There is some repetitiveness, but who get's tired of knocking out a guy who's in the middle of taking a leak?

Despite all the game-play improvements, I was surprised to find myself nostalgic and senitmental for the first hitman. This sequal does not keep with the dark, realistic grittiness that made the original hitman so attractive--a sort of grittiness only an obscure game can pull-off. This sequal dissapoints by turning into the more run-of-the-mill shooter--its like "Hitman on Ice" compared to the first one. 47, the main character and hitman, is suddenly emotional and contrite (whatever) not to mention talkative and chummy with the other characters in the game (relatively at least). This is fine, and works to an extent, but its simply not the same hitman.

Summary: Lucy You Got Some Splainin' To Do
Review: I really wanted to play this game, but it won't load on a first class system. Not talking about any gameplay here, I'm talking about technically being able to play it. Read about it on the web in general. This seems to be a hit-or-miss thing. Some systems work...some don't. Mine didn't. The EIDOS support team are unable to explain why it functions for some systems, but not for others. If it doesn't work for you, expect to just get rudely shut off from communication with the support team (this makes it doubly frustrating). They just don't know what to do. I'm sure this is a great game, but if you buy it, and it has the notorious crashing problems that it's now becoming known for, return it right away. You've gotta forget it and move on because the designers can't solve the problems, and you won't be able to either. This company may have a great game, with great graphics, but it doesn't mean a thing if you can't load it or play it...and then the support team stiff-arms you when you have these problems. Give it a try, but be prepared for trouble, and if you have trouble, dump it right away...there is no known fix. Don't buy this if you expect something to just load up...and away you go. You might be sorely disappointed.

Summary: A Fantastic Game
Review: Quite simply, Hitman 2 rocks. In fact, this is the best 3rd person action game I've played in quite some time. Heck, it's one of the best all-around action games I've ever played! My biggest complaint was that the game had to end eventually. So, what's so good about it?
· Hitman 2 offers a variety of missions that can be tackled in various ways. Do you want to break into that heavily guarded enemy base stealthily, or would you rather just mow down everyone in sight with a very large gun? Not only can you do both, but neither the stealth mode nor the action mode suffers from one getting more attention than the other.
· The game employs some of the best physics I've yet seen (even if they are purposefully exaggerated in a John Woo sort of way). Shoot a man sitting in a chair, and he'll go limp and slowly slide down in the seat until he plops right off the chair. Brilliant stuff.
· The weapon selection rocks. You can use everything from a katana to a street sweeper to dispatch your foes. Stealth kills (best used with your strangulation wire) are hard to pull off, but exciting.
· The game's missions get straight to the point. They never last a moment longer than they need to, and they never get frustrating.
· Level designs are remarkable. You will penetrate hospitals, military barracks, Japanese castles, skyscrapers and much, much more.
· The storyline and characters are compelling. The game's cut scenes have a very definite cinematic quality, and the orchestral score is pretty darn good too.
· Hitman 2 isn't exactly easy per se, but it's never frustrating. This is perhaps the best thing about the game. You very rarely wonder what you're supposed to be doing.
· Replay value is high. If you completed a mission through sheer acts of merciless brutality, then you inevitably wonder how it would have gone if you'd been subtler. And so you end up playing the mission again... and again... and again.

I could go on and on about the game's good points, but that doesn't mean we're looking at a perfect game. There are problems. For example:
· Sometimes enemy guards catch on to you far too easily. You could have killed an enemy soldier, stolen his clothes, hidden the body, and gone completely undetected, but some psychic you stroll past will sound the alarm. Annoying.
· Hitman 2 has a tendency to cheat. For example, sometimes when you kill an enemy soldier, a message will flash across the bottom of the screen warning you that the guards have found their slain comrade and are now looking for any suspicious persons. Fine - except for the fact that you killed this sentry two seconds ago, and there aren't any other guards in sight.
· The game's interface and controls are all pretty well-handled, but turning quickly to face an enemy approaching your backside is far too difficult. You generally get shot in the back several times before you can successfully spin 'round to face the opposition. This is due to the insensitivity of the mouse, even at the highest sensitivity setting.
· Enemy AI could have been better. Most baddies will just charge you blindly, even as you fire into them at will. This coupled with a map that shows you every guard's position, and even the direction they're facing, makes you a little on the unstoppable side.
· Mission objectives are usually clear, but it's generally unclear whether or not the people around you will be hostile until you've gotten face-to-face with one of them. For example, in the last mission of the game, there are several hitmen that look just like you, and are even dressed in the same dark suits, but if they so much as look at you for a second, they'll open fire. Doesn't seem logical.

All in all, Hitman 2 is a game that I couldn't recommend more highly, particularly to those who enjoy more intelligent action games. Don't miss this one.

Summary: Good Idea.....Average Delivery
Review: The premise of this game is great. Your a Hitman, given jobs to travel around the world taking the bad guys out. You have tons of cool weapons, you get to disguise yourself in a variety of ways to work your way into guarded areas. The stealth part of the game is cool. You can walk right into an enemies territory and they won't even know your there...if your sneaky enough.
Its a REALLY good idea for a PC GAME, and combined with the graphics, its amazing to me that it wasn't a little better.

So there are the positives, but after a few hours of playing it, I asked myself why I wasn't getting as into the game as I did in Max Payne, or Soldier of Fortune 2? The graphics are too "cartoonish." When you shoot, you "see" the bullets flying through the air. When they hit their target, he is often throw back 10 feet. If you've ever played SOFII, or even Ghost Recon, you'll immedietly notice the lack of realism in the violence. I'm not asking for TOTAL GRAPHIC chaos as in SOFII, but some realism adds to a shooter, and htis game lacks that. The sound is another issue. Nice music, but the gun shots and sound effects overall are weak. Not the mention the fact that you can barely save your game when you want to, and often times repeat whole missions several times.

The BOTTOM line...good graphics, weak sound, weak relism, GOOD STORY GOOD IDEA. This game could have been delivered ALOT better, maybe modeling itself a little more after a Max Payne or SOFII. I've played em all when it comes to FPS's, and this fell way short of expectations...

Summary: Hitman 2: Game of my dreams
Review: Hitman one is a great game, and Hitman 2 is alot better. I gave it 5 stars because this game is has more suspence than hitman one. Guards are more alert now, if you dres diferent they search you for guns. You can distract the guards by shooting the ground in front of them. and then you run past them.... This game is the greates game for me for now. PLay it, its realy good.

Summary: Hitman 2 or just an expansion pack???
Review: I was a huge fan of the first Hitman. Despite all the bad press it had been getting, I could see no fault with it. The idea of being able to play a professional hitman was beyond anything any other games had to offer at that time. The only fault that I had with the first Hitman was the lack of in-game saves.

Hitman 2 gave us the saves. Fine. I was hoping more from the team in terms of 47's skills/movement abilities instead of just more weapons. What about mantling - climbing over walls? Or what about the ability to distract the guards .. say, throwing his voice around? Or throwing rock/coin? Scaling building with more high tech equipments?

Hitman 2 is really more of the same, which is fine, really, if it is packaged as an expansion pack and not a sequel.

Summary: No direction, lots of walking
Review: There's no real guide or help in deciding what you are suppose to do in some missions, and no explanation of scoring... can I still win if I kill everyone? (you have to go online to read that you can, but what's the reward for being stealthy? - nothing just a note at the mission end that says so.. hmph) If you want to be stealthy, be prepared to sit and watch your guy walk through desert and snow for hours.

Don't get me wrong, if you enjoy 'Thief' or sneaking around like in 'No one lives forever' it is a fun game, and it has its moments - just needed to balance all the rave reviews with some reality.

Summary: DON'T BUY
Review: It is a H O R R I B L E Game. Don't even bother with it, the graphics are as good as bond was for N64, and it just [stinks]. The gameplay is too short and the people who made this just got arrested for BAD GAMEPLAY. BAD game

Summary: Disappointing Sequel
Review: I loved the first Hitman release because it was fresh even if it was a little rough around the edges.

The Hitman2 sequel smooths off the rough edges on the engine and fixes some of the gameplay problems. Unfortunately, it lacks imagination. It feels like you're stuck in one level the whole game. Yeah, the scenery changes, but the gameplay is always the same. No adaptation, nothing new. This might be the reason the game feels like it's over before it begins - it's way too short for the money.

Not to mention that they shipped this thing full of bugs. It crashed out on me more times than I can count. This is especially bad if you're playing without save games, since you lose big chunks of your progress when the buggy game dies. They'd better be working night and day on a service pack for this thing!

Review: I've played Hitman 1 and loved it. It took Eidos 2 years to release this new installment. 2 years!! and this edition feels like an expansion pack at the most.
