Summary: Thief + Mafia = Hitman 2
Review: This game has some really good concepts to it. I love the fact that it has many of the same characteristics as Thief did and the way the screen moves is very much the same as in Mafia. These two similarities make it almost a guarenteed winner right out of the gate. Gameplay is really good and inbetween missions you get to gaze over all the guns you have aquired so far in your tool shed. This is a neat aspect, but whats even better is when you get briefed for the mission you only know certain things about what the level's going to look like. Everything else is left up to anticipation. The maps may look overwhelming atfirst but after you play a few missions you'll be able to read the maps as well as I can. If you don't have patience for stealth, you can run in guns blazing. You may not get very far but it still turns a potentially "boring" game into something more action packed. However, if you want to stay back and observe and then go in for the kill when you see your opertunity then you can do that too. Challenge yourself by trying to do an entire mission without killing anybody else but the main objective. Its hard, but not impossible.

The only thing I thought could be a little better was human/CPU interaction once you were disguised as an enemy soldier. No matter how normal you act, you will still get shot at by an enemy if you brush their shoulder. Some of the missions are hard, but most of them flow pretty smoothly.

I guess the biggest thing to look out for is the XP non-capatibility with some computers. I use XP and the game works fine for me, but for others it will crash, so keep that receipt.

Have fun with this game, I sure am...

Happy Camping,

Summary: Excelent Game
Review: This game leaves you wanting more, in every missions there is more than one way to complete an objective. Usually it's going in silent or just go in with guns raised and blasting. Now when you first start the game it will take a little while to get used to the controls but that shouldn't take to long and besides it's worth the game play. I bought this game about a week after it came out and I still play it.

Summary: The art of being a hitman
Review: I think Hitman2 is a great game for those who enjoy playing Metal Gear Solid, and other games of the genre. The graphics are superb, and controls for the main character is easy to master. The storyline was simple to follow, but I wish you could choose your missions instead of having to follow the agency's selections. The voice over is weak but what the heck it's a PC-game! The entertaining part of the game (besides terminating your intended target) is getting the best rating in making the hit on your victim. It depends on a lot of factors, which you will find out when you play the game for the first time. The ratings range from "moron", "mass murderer", "psychopath", to the most prized rating as a "silent assassin." Each level never plays the same, it all depends on how you approach your target that influences what challenges occur during the mission. So this game has a good replay value. On the technical issues of this game. I have to agree with other gamers who reviewed Hitman2- this game is buggy. But I think the problem is lessen with the new patch EIDO came out for the game (e.g. Ninjas becoming part of wooden columns). I did experience one crash and the inability to open doors the first time I played the game. It is highly recommended to update your drivers for your video and sound cards, along with upgrading to DirectX 9.0. For gamers with SB Live! sound cards. Enabling the EAX feature will make all the sound effects in the game play like you are wearing earplugs on, so disable the feature. I installed a plug-in that resolves the SB Live!/EAX issue. It is called AM3D DieselPower Configure. Overall I enjoyed the game, and would recommend to others.

Summary: Lay it straight.
Review: Ok I am going to lay it out on the table for all of you, because I am so tired of listening to people whine about this game. For starters this IS a game of stealth and it requires being swift and silent. THIS IS NOT HALF-LIFE PEOPLE! So for all of you out there who are P.O.ed over the idea that you can't going blasting your way through places and immediatley expect results(that you like)save it; it just doesn't work.
2 this sequel is 1000 times better than codename 47. I played 47 first and I personally thought it was very good idea for a game but not very well executed. I just found it frustratingly hard. But however I do recomend you at least play 47 first just to know what the hell is going on. (You wouldn't play Opposing force before Half-Life would you?)
And finally to all parents. This is not a kids game! It has a M rating for a very good reason. So if you are not comfortable with your kids going around and systematically assassinating people do not buy this game for them!

Oh before I forget if you saw the review that one guy wrote about it not working on XP, I have know idea what he's talking about, because I use XP and it runs flawlessly.
But my last and final note to this review- if you like bursting into a room and putting a double tap to some mob guys head with a silenced 9mm then this is the game for you.

Summary: Big Improvement from first
Review: After playing and finishing all twenty-one levels in Hitman 2: Silent Assassin I feel confident that I can write an honest review. I'm one of the few who have played the first (Hitman: Codename 47) in the series and because of that I was curious to see Eidos and IO Interactive work on this sequel. The original contained many flaws and short comings so I was curious if the manufactures fixed all these flaws and if they truly this time made a great game.
The original crashed almost repeatedly and with the no game save feature you found yourself repeating the level over and over again. Hitman 2 never crashed on my machine and ran smooth and fluid throughout all the levels. The game adds in-game save features besides just the auto save presented in the original. Hitman 2 also added difficulty levels so people can adjust and play on the skill they believe that their on. The original did not contain in-game saves and difficulty levels. (4.75/5)
The music in the original only really accomplished of bringing the atmosphere of being a Hitman to life. For that I applaud it but the sound usually did not bring out the atmosphere of the many exotic locations and failed to be entertaining. The sequel not only matches the atmosphere of the place and being a Hitman but also is very entertaining. The downside is if you find yourself in the same part (like Russia, Japan, etc.) you will find they recycled a lot of the music. The sound effects in the sequel are sharp when you download a file off the hitman website. (4.5/5)
The graphics in the original were revolutionary; the graphics in the sequel are not. They are of course better than the three year-old game but could have been better. They did do a nice job of creating rain, snow, and other natural effects but with the games out already, their not revolutionary, just good. There are more exotic locations in the sequel than the original (go figure since the sequel contains eight more levels than the original). In the sequel you get to visit Sicily, Russia, Malaysia, Japan, Nuristan (where ever the hell that is), and India. All of these contain nice graphics and all except two levels located in Japan look original enough to actually feel like there is a new location every time and not just a rehash of the old levels. (4.25/5)
The game play was a lot better in the sequel than the original. The story line was more addicting and did not throw in many sci-fi elements to completely blow the game. This time you had a bigger purpose instead of money. You also got additional skills topped to your old ones to increase the fun factor (the ability to pick locks, to knock out people by using anesthetic, the ability to peek through key holes, and the ability to knock out people with the back of your gun). The map is nicely improved in the sequel, becoming a valuable tool to finish the job. The missions are much more open ended with even more exotic hits. This time a disguise will not carry you far calling for some more thinking. Carrying a wrong weapon, running, lingering around, moving to close to the guard, or simply acting suspicious by picking locks, crouching, or going in a wrong room will get you shot. To combat this the creators added a threat meter, if the guards gets suspicious it will show up on the meter. This allows you to get out of a situation fast before it becomes a gunfight. The creators also added a first person view in the addition to the already existing third person view. (4.75/5)

Overall great game, a big improvement from the original: (4.56/5) A-

Summary: Those who enjoyed the first one... Read this
Review: For those who want a new experience of gaming (or just tired of shooters), Hitman 2 is a good choise. For those who really enjoyed the first Hitman (Codename 47), there are some moments of disappointment...

Unlike the first one, Hitman 2 requires way too much stealth. What was supposedly to be a fun element became a frustration because it became the core of the gameplay mechanic - and no way to avoid it. The developers probably forget how the element of stealth brightened the first Hitman by being decorative, not by being the game itself! There are certain levels you must play as a "silent assassin," or you simply dont pass. Being steathy is fine, but most levels gives you only one option to make the kill beside all the hide-and-seek you must go through. So less fun when you find out that all the "different solutions" the game promised you are only the different ways you hide yourself, not the way you execute yout targets.

The drama of the game was also weakened. Unlike the targets in the first Hitman, such as Lee Hong or Pablo the Drug Lord, all the targets are lifeless. They follows their usual routines like all the guards, and they react to your actions with no significat differences. Realistic? Yes. But where is the fun? Where is the suprise the gamers are after? Where is the tension and climax we felt in the first Hitman?

Many attractive details from the firt one were missing here too. the stylish sniper case is gone; body no longer float on water; bullets no loger leave marks on corpses; mirrors do not reflect- they look like sheet metal! Leaves no longer vibrate with your body movement, and all sniper rifles are extremely hard to use no matter how close your target is... why is R93 so loud in this one?

Over all,it is a brand new exprience for those who knew only key-searching and shooting anything that moves. Comparing to the first Hitman, it has so much less bugs and almost crash-free in all systems I know, but with so many fun and original details amiss, this game is not necessarily better than the first Hitman.

Summary: The best game of the year
Review: This in my opinion is the game of the year. The graphics and game play were excelant towards the last half of the game the graphics started to slide in quality but they were still good. This game is the follow up to one of the most original games ever created #47 was forced to be a hit man once again after his mentor (who also happens to be a monk) is kidnapped. 47 is pulled out of the monastary and has to make hits for a powerful russian dude. The game is completely open ended. You can choose how you want to make the hits, messy, clean, u can choose with wut example. in the first level u can choose between a wire or a knife. You can run around killing wut ever u want just don't get caught doing it. No one can go wrong with this game it is exceptional and is great to add to the collection i highly recomend this game.

Summary: Save your Breath : DOESN'T WORK ON XP!!
Review: Im not complaning because it stinks or anything but because of something big. THE GAME DOESN'T WORK ON XP!!!!! I returned it to see if it was my computer that is the problem but it is very common for hitman 2 to crash on windows XP. so if it says "Direct3D : unable to create device. Try changing resolution or color depth" and on XP. Return it immediately. I returned it and got it on Xbox.

Summary: Plenty of Fun, Lacking Plot
Review: For those of you who enjoyed the first Hitman, this gamne is definitely a worthy sequel. The graphics are superb(especially on a PS2)and the music very emphatic. This game doesn't have quite the same replay quality as the first, becuase there is no level select, but its save utility pretty much compensates for this. Also, Eidos was pressed for production, so there are *many* in-game glitches. The most negative aspect of the game is that the plot is not nearly as perverse and interesting as the first- in fact, it's a tiny bit cliche. However, I would definitely recommend this game as a welcome segway from the trepidations of everyday life.
